It simply depends on who you are and what your personality is; things are subjective when it comes to satisfaction. Some people are fine just playing because they are not or no longer in need of big amount of money becaause they have their own wealth outside this industry. But of most the people here for sure are into gambling activities to earn profit. You'd only be engaging on either entertainment or financial satisfaction and rewards. I cannot think of other reason why do people gamble aside from these two. Winning is a part of a person's ego and it could be a drive. However, that drive depends on your needs and desire. If it is winning over opponent then that's valid if that's how you percieve things but more likely there'e a deeper meaning for you to be too eager of things. You can name all of those things but for sure majority of it would fall under monetary needs.

I think their satisfaction lies on the uncertainity the gambling game provides to them. There is a theory which says personalities like politicians, for an example, are used to be on the control of the situation all the time. They are a dominant force which decides the direction not only of their lives, but also the directions the whole society is going to take.

This burden annoys and stress them in some moments, so they feel the need for relief through activities where they aren't in charge of the situation anymore, becoming just the passive agent, resigning themselves to the active and dominant force of someone else. In this case we can consider this force to be the luck factor at gambling games.

As consequence they feel pleasure and satisfaction by not knowing what is going to happen next. If they are going to win or lose the bet. If they are going to quit the gambling session in profit or loss. This uncertainity is what gives them the thrill!

Casino is one of the favourite place for rich people to hangout, they are not necessarily involved in betting to make money for their living but their goal is also make some money as fun, while doing it some people get addicted and gamble more to recover the loss and lose more while attempting it.

Gambling for making money is wrong ideology, if someone is doing with such thoughts will learn the lesson in hard way.

There are many reasons why millionaires are addicted to gambling, even though they are already rich and should have enough with what they have - but it seems they are not satisfied with what they have and gamble to fulfill their lust and pleasure. Why are they like that? It's nothing other than that because of their lifestyle, lust, pleasure, and triviality towards gambling because they think that their wealth is so large that it's not a problem for them to gamble and have fun. I think when someone has an addiction to gambling, of course they gamble too often until they have difficulty resisting the urge to gamble and for those who think that by gambling they can get rich, of course they will continue to gamble in the hope that they will be able to get a big win from the bet they make. play and some rich people gamble, of course they don't think about winning, they think about how they can get pleasure from the games they play.

The way I see it those people are addicted to the feeling they got when they gamble, not just about the profit, socialization or drinking.
We have some gamblers who are addicted to it without even socialization.
I think rich people became addicted to gambling because of the satisfaction that they got from winning, and they are risking their money to get that satisfaction.

The reason for entertainment and enjoying the results is understandable. For many millionaires, gambling is a luxurious form of entertainment. After all, some millionaires value preserving their hard-earned money and probably don't want to risk gambling. Raising capital is a procedure that requires diligence, intelligence and tactics. Therefore, they choose to invest wisely instead of just relying on luck. On the contrary, some millionaires also have a hobby of gambling. Even though they are aware that gambling is high risk, they are still motivated by the desire for wealth and the possibility of winning big. The way I see it those people are addicted to the feeling they got when they gamble, not just about the profit, socialization or drinking.
We have some gamblers who are addicted to it without even socialization.
I think rich people became addicted to gambling because of the satisfaction that they got from winning, and they are risking their money to get that satisfaction.

The pleasant feeling they get from gambling makes them addicted and want to get more. Without them realizing it, they become more and more addicted and if there is no self-control, they will get deeper into gambling.
If they have been gambling for too long, it will be difficult to cure them and they will only spend their time gambling. They will not want to stop their gambling activities because for them, gambling has become a necessity.
But if rich people continue to gamble, their wealth will run out because gambling is not a place to make money. They must realize it before it's too late, so they don't regret it later.

Well, addiction is addiction even if you are rich or not, winning or not, losing or not because they may not be concerned about the financial consequences in the same way that someone who is struggling financially might be even the rich still keep on gambling though they are not afraid of losing but they can't stop because they are being addicted but while they are not afraid to lose, they will have a significant impact on their lives like losing their relationships, reputation and even their freedom but I think it's important to consider all of these things and not just assume that money will protect someone from the negative effects of gambling.

It doesn't matter if someone is rich or poor, we all start gambling for fun & easy profit. The stakes are different, everyone has their own limit and perception of a min bet & big win.

Rich men prefer other means of entertainment also and not depend on gambling like people that are not rich that are looking for a day to win jackpot and win huge amount of money. I can say that rich people are more sensible and avoidinf irresponsible gambling than people that are not rich.

I am not really sure what you wish to say here... Poor people also prefer other means of entertainment, and poor people can also be very responsible with the money they have. Poor or rich people look for jackpots, and you should know that it's a different jackpot if you play with $0.1 and $100 per bet... so even rich people can easily get a lot richer if they hit a jackpot with some high bet. So 100 $0.1 bets are $10, and 100 $10 bets are $1000... Everyone plays with stakes they can control, and those stakes can bring big profits or big losses.

It's not a question of how someone becomes too addicted to gambling, I think we are all addicted, so the real question is how well we are able to control it. Without control, anyone (rich or poor) can lose everything they have and get into debt on top of that.

You are right. But non rich people gamble to make money and that makes rich people to be different because they do not look for money from gambling the way people that are not rich are looking for money.

It's not really about the money you hold that will help you get addicted to gambling, whether you are rich or poor. As long as you don't have self-control and are too greedy, there is nothing that will stop you from getting addicted.

If it is land based casinos, socialization is among the reasons you will see rich men that are gambling. But some rich people also prefer online gambling and that can not just be because of socialization if the rich person only prefer to gamble online and prefer privacy. OP is right about the money not being the fuel of addicts in the long run.

People usually start with money it's the main goal at first and the reason they try so hard. Then it becomes a form of spending free time. Winning helps, but the games are constructed in such way that it's almost impossible to keep losing. Usually gamblers are at a loss but it's a small one so they keep playing ending a few sessions with a profit and then a few at a loss, but that profit keeps them in the game because a bankrupt gambler will not return.

When you win your brain releases endorphins and you get that feeling of happiness combined with a sense of accomplishment. That's what gets really makes people come back to the game even after a losing streak.

No amount of money is always enough for most persons, so even though they are rich, they would still want to double their money, however gambling isn't for only rich people, it's for every class of persons in the society. Addiction can affect anybody in the society, or do you think addiction should be solely for the low income earnings in our society?, I believe your answer should be NO.

Socialization brings awareness to everybody not only the rich, however people gambling for different reasons, some to double their money while others do it for fun.

Gambling is not determined if you're rich or poor. If a Richman decided to gamble, it's just for him to make extra cash to his existing business by adding value to his money .
