Subriel is a pressure fighter who loves to take so he can give his own because he believes in his power, after Subriel beats Paro he can set his eyes to unify the division.
I am happy about this fight, finally someone dared to fight Matias. The big mouths like Teofimo Lopez and Haney have been avoiding it. That's why I recognize the courage of this opponent, Liam Paro, brave to come to Puerto Rico to challenge one of my favorite champions. You can't take away his merit. He's hungry, undefeated, and knows that if he beats ours, he'll have millionaire fights ahead. But right now, ours also has hunger, and from the third round onwards, he will impose his aggressive fight with his combinations from all sides until they stop the fight in favor of ours.

Teofimo and Haney are not ducking Matias mate. If there's someone ducking, that's former WBA champ Rolly because they're both under the PBC umbrella. But Rolly is popular but has low level skills and was only gifted with the belt by the corrupt WBA so there was zero chance PBC will feed him to Matias. If you know PBC's history, it is very difficult to deal with them when you are a fighter outside of their promotion. Look at Saudi mega fights, only the already damaged Wilder is from PBC while the other top promoters are working together to make the best fights.

It was only last February that Matias left PBC and is now working with Matchroom. If he beats Paro I can see him unifying his IBF belt probably against WBC champ Haney since they are in the same promotion. WBO champ Teofimo Lopez is already the lineal champion of the division but pretty sure he loves to unify all the belts as well. New WBA champ Pitbull Cruz is brave and willing but I see him as the weakest among champions and I doubt PBC will also risk him without a huge return.

I don't think they are avoiding Matias, in fact they wanted to fight him but there are no incentives as Matias even though a champion, is not a household name yet. Paro has been out of the limelight and he is lucky he has been given this chance to fight for the belt again although he has to travel to PR.

If Matias wins here, then definitely if he wanted smoke he can fight Teo. But Lopez is looking for bigger prize in his fight and if Matias can't offer it, I doubt that the fight is going to happen. Most of the times this boxers are really looking for a bigger purse and other ways to make huge money.

I agree Subriel cannot match Tank Davis or Ryan Garcia's PPV and gate ticket drawing power, it's not attractive
to fight Subriel when it comes to payout, but it will add to your reputation if you fight and beat Subriel.

For Subriel to become a household name he should beat unbeaten fighters he did it again Ergashov if he can do it again, against Paro then he will be on other champion's lists.

Subriel is the new Puerto Rico superstar in the tradition of Felix Trinidad his handler and promoters should give him challenging fights, even if it means a lesser share of the profit, on all the Jr welterweight I consider Subriel the most dangerous, more dangerous than Pitbull.

Those are still no household names though, Ergashov and Paro. In this belt, there is one particular name which is Jack Catterall or even Regis Prograis. Or if he can cross over and go for unification fight, then Isaac Cruz or Ismael Barroso for the WBA. But I do agree, Felix in his prime has fought a lot of HOF, including Oscar and Bernard Hopskins. But it's a different era that we have seen know. Boxers are being protected by their promoters and managers and so we are being deprived to see great fights. So let's see if he can go and win here, might be good to see him and Isaac Cruz together in the right. Two powerful boxers with good chin.

It's another problem in boxing. Nowadays it's more on the business side. Promoters will only risk their stars and champions if they are the favorites or exploit their opponents like offering late-notice schedules or catchweights or rehydration clause. When Subriel was with PBC, that promotion also has WBA champ Rolly Romero but I haven't heard a single video, article, tweet about unifying the IBF and WBA belts when they're both in the same network. Clearly, PBC do not want to risk their popular fighter Romero against a very dangerous Matias with no solid fanbase.

Anyways, Matias is now with Matchroom. Last weekend, Matchroom's Haney lost against Garcia but corrupt WBC retained him of his belt. We'll see if Eddie can unify the IBF and WBC. I prefer this unification fight than a Garcia-Haney rematch since the former wanted to stay as a welterweight. Not underestimating Paro though. I still want Paro to win. Grin

Boxers should insist on fighting the best and demand it from their managers, yes they can make a lot of money from their promoters and managers but boxers who think that they deserve to be called great should insist on fighting the best fighters in their generation.

One example is Crawford who has to get out of Bob Arum's promotion to be able to make a match against Spence and so the fight becomes his legacy fight, Subriel skill should not be wasted he should fight or unite the titles, and I agree a fight with Isaac Cruz is going to be huge two pressure fighter with the same style if this happens it's going to a last man standing type of slugfest.

I saw Matias's highlight on YouTube recently he is one of the boxers I want to watch right now, thankfully he has this upcoming fight and we can expect that it will be another exciting match. Matias might be underrated, but his skills and determination to become a known world champion are there, and the guy is just wrecking his opponent, making them quit after fighting him. I wonder why he is still unknown? he needs some exposure in the West or the Middle East or his talent will be wasted and he won't get as much money as he can with it. need a reliable promoter to promote him.

Most of the boxers that are popular are undefeatd, he had one loss against Petros Ananyan, so that's a negative in his record. Maybe the time will come if he continue winning, he'll be able to have a big fight with the popular champion in the industry and win, then that will be a big break for his career.

In the current division he is at being a champion, there are other champions that are popular than him, if he'll able to unify the belt and he succeed, then that's it. Names like Teofimo Lopez, Rolando Romero, and Devin Haney... I think he could challenge them.

Romero and Haney already lost though, it's not Pitbull Cruz, although Haney retained his WBC belt because Ryan Garcia didn't meet the weight requirement of 140 lbs. But as far as Matias, yeah, he has power in both hands but he still hasn't break into the American fans. But maybe this fight might propel him if ever he wins and this fight like goes into a war like Fundora and Tszyu and then Matias win? I think his name might be in the radar of Teo for unification fight. Teo though is the lineal champion at 140 lbs, and for me he will be the A-side whoever he faces any other champions in this division including Matias.

I think his name might be in the radar of Teo for unification fight. Teo though is the lineal champion at 140 lbs, and for me he will be the A-side whoever he faces any other champions in this division including Matias.

Yes, I agree with you, there was initial hype after he won by TKO against Ergashev but after that, there's no news on Matias there's no hype on this fight in the US, of course, this fight is already popular in Puerto Rico but unless he beats a very popular name like Pitbull Cruz, Teofimo Lopez or Haney I don't think his name will level up in the US ground.

Lina Paro is not even popular, and you cannot consider him a main-event fighter. If this fight is going to be held in the US, it cannot stand its ground and will likely end up as a co-main event.

After this fight, Eddie Hearns should arrange a much bigger fight that will make Subriel Matias a household name
Matias deserves no less than the best fighter in his division to face.
