I haven't used my MultiBit wallet in years. Now, when I try to access my Bitcoin, I run into some issues.

I enter my 18-word recovery phrase and password on the MultiBit.info website.
I download and install the MultiBit setup file.
The wallet starts syncing, but it gets stuck at 87% and won't progress for days.
Is there a way to access my Bitcoin??

Since you have your 18 word recovery phrase, try importing it into another wallet like electrum. Download it from their official website here https://electrum.org/#home

I enter my 18-word recovery phrase and password on the MultiBit.info website.
This pretty much compromised your entire wallet.
You've just pasted your recovery phrase into a phishing website; a sane wallet software wouldn't require you to paste your seed before you can download the wallet.
If there's any bitcoins in that recovery phrase and you did that hours ago, it would've been spent by now.

You should've downloaded the binaries from their official (deprecated) GitHub Repository: github.com/Multibit-Legacy/multibit-hd/releases

You've just pasted your recovery phrase into a phishing website.
In that case, OP should consider his entire computer compromised after installing software from a phishing site.

did you mean the multibit.info is a phishing website ?
Yes, they discontinued their service few years already. That's why you see some of the guys above recommending to use other wallets and ways for you to recover your funds.
Anyone who claim that they are multibit wallet either website or downloadable application is considered as a scam, so beware of them.

If i were you check your wallet info on electrum to check if it's still on your funds there and transfer it to a new wallet, as fast as you can since you are already considered as compromised.

did you mean the multibit.info is a phishing website ?
Yes.
Firstly, the website is fairly new (19-9-2023) and most of the registrar's info are private.

But the big red flag here is: if you need to download the wallet, it'll require you to paste your recovery phrase.
No one does that.

Never enter your recovery phrase on any online website, you will certainly lose your funds in 100% of cases, wallets must be downloaded directly from the official website and multibit has closed since 2017.

Follow these instructions bellow to restore a multibit wallet to Electrum as quickly as possible

If it's a phishing site, you've probably already lost your funds, so post an update here.

Import your Multibit HD recovery seed into Electrum:

If you have an Electrum HD recovery phrase, select “I already have a seed”

After you enter the seed, click on options and check bip39.

Next, set the derivation path as m/0′

I truly appreciate you explaining this.  It appears I encountered a phishing website.  The wallets definitely weren't intended for me.  Someone sent me recovery phrases and a website address to supposedly recover their bitcoins.  Fortunately, I tested it on a computer that doesn't contain any sensitive data, so there shouldn't be any issues.

Based on this information, your entire computer is now infected...
I’m not a very big computer security specialist, but probably in such a situation you need to take emergency measures (at a minimum, roll back the software on your computer to factory settings or, at a maximum, reinstall the operating system).  More experienced software users will likely be more specific about how to handle this situation.
In any case, if the seed did not originally belong to you, this means that the attackers are targeting your confidential data (possibly related to cryptocurrencies or online banking).
Even if this is not your main computer, it is still advisable to take measures to destroy the enemy virus/worm/Trojan.

...

First you state it's your own MultiBit wallet not being in use for years.

Interesting, now it's someone else's wallet who gave you all their wallet's secret and YOU compromised that wallet and likely your own laptop (your laptop is recoverable, the wallet's content likely not anymore). You don't do any prior research, willingly handing over recovery words on an online website which is per se a total no-go with mnemonic recovery words???

I assume that your "someone's" wallet is now drained. How do you want to explain this to your someone? I'm curious!

Seriously, you shouldn't offer recovery services if you're not professional at all and what you did was the opposite of professional action.

Weird I tried to use multibit keyword on Google but the site you mentioned never appeared on the result so how did you find that phishing site?
The official website is multibit.org but its no longer works if you use that website it will redirect you to their GitHub with a notice that "Multibit is Deprecated - Do Not Use"

Pretty bad the site you mentioned above does not include software or an installer for multibit when you attempt to download the multibit it asks for a seed phrase which is pretty obviously a phishing site. If you pasted the seed phrase onto that site your seed phrase is already compromised. You must act immediately and maybe the owner of the phishing site hasn't done anything yet you can try what they suggested above and act right away and import it to Electrum and then transfer all funds to a new wallet. I hope the funds are still there if you can't find any funds there it's your fault for not asking it first here on the forum or to someone who is trusted.
