How about a rematch with Pitbull Cruz at 140 lbs? https://www.youtube.com/shorts/1zs08f-q-Y4Or will he stay at 135 lbs and fight Loma? I think the fans are going to go crazy with a Loma fight. And this is what Bob Arum's want that's why he is headed for a negotiation with the camp of Tank Davis. So all roads lead to Tank Davis at this division, although we call him paper champ because that's what he is, he has that drawing power, just like Ryan Garcia because he brings excited fight. And I also don't see Loma and Berinchyk unifying as both are Ukrainians. Pitbull Cruz’s biggest accomplishment in his career was beating an overrated Rolly Romero. He is just more of the same for Tank Davis, an unproven guy who is just good enough to be credible but not good enough to win. Cruz needs to build a resume first. Loma and Shakur are already established champions in multiple weight classes, there is no reason to avoid them.

I don't know, but before that interview, he said that he will not rematch Pitbull Cruz, perhaps the money is not there for Tank and also Pitbull is at 140 lbs already and he is campaigning at Lightweight. But he praises Pitbull though for his super performance in beating a overhype Rolly Romero. Loma and Shakur should really be what the Tank should be looking. Loma although as we have said, might be losing some steps due to age, but still he is a champion and can draw a crowd. Same with Shakur, a bit boring because of his defense, but he has been trolling Tank Davis for quite some time now.

A rematch would be interesting, though I feel like Tank Davis will still dominate. Both are KO artists, but it will boil down to who is the smarter boxer. In that area, I think the advantage belongs to Tank Davis. Nonetheless, I think this is a fight that will ensure the fans are entertained, as we all know Pitbull Cruz will live up to his name. He will be fully charged from round 1 until the end and will try to land a solid punch to KO Davis. I don't like this rematch though, might be better for Tank to just look for bigger options. And I do think that it will have the same outcome, might be very close if the fight is at Jr. Welterweight as Pitbull doesn't have to cut to 135 lbs and give Tank another unfair advantage. I like what Bob Arum's goal, Tank vs Loma is what we fans are yearning to see for years although it look like Tank is like Floyd, waiting for Loma to get's old. But in any case, there's a lot in the line for Tank, he will have to challenge for a regular belt and could bet the great Loma. And if by chance, this happens, I think Tank will overwhelm the old Loma and we might see Loma getting knockout badly first time in his career.

I'm also surprised Martin went long enough. And the fight was actually close. All judges had it 3-4 after round 7 where Tank only has 1 round advantage. It could be true that Martin sparred a bigger puncher than Tank which is why he survived that long. Martin probably felt those punches even if there were head gears during sparring sessions.
He was really doing good and was able to stay away from Tank Davis power. And he did played it tactically as what his promoter/manager Errol Spence said pre fight. But you can only last that long, unless you really have unlimited gas tank. So by the middle of the rounds, we can see that Martin is slowing down a bit and then being caught slowly by Tank in the body. Anyways, as expected, it's another KO win by Tank. My question remains the same over the years. When's the time he stops being a coward and fight the other champions? He may avoid WBC champ Shakur but IBF king Loma is already old and is no longer the same during his prime years. WBO holder Berinchyk is not popular and should be very easy to negotiate if Tank wants to unify.
Tank says that he is willing to fight Loma next. But it seems that also waited for so long until Loma is 36 years old. So that's what most critics are throwing on Tank right now. I don't think that he is willing to fight Shakur, but Shakur seems to be calling out Tank after his win, so let's see.

There's a lot of proofs on Tank and his team evading a fight with Loma for many years already. Loma although not in his prime anymore still showed that he is still a championship caliber in this division so we'll see if Tank really has the balls to fight him. If I'm Tank, I'll fight the WBO champion Denys Berinchyk and then see the other champs if they're beatable. But we do not really know if Tank is interested in entering the Hall of Fame once he retires. Maybe Tank only cares about the money so he don't care if he becomes an all time great once he retires.

He said that it will be Loma so he should stick with it otherwise if he fights other champion which for us might be easier for him like Denys Berinchyk, for sure he will get criticized again. And so it will be a win win for him, Ageing Loma and so he has the advantage as for me Loma is no longer at his peak. Although he just won against a tough Kambosos, but his no longer that technical unlike before where we see his fights, he is really like a AI in the ring hehehe. So hopefully Tank will keep his words that he wants Loma next.

And the PPV numbers are in, according to Dan Rafael, it did around 325,000-350,0000 buys Gervonta “Tank” Davis’ highlight-reel eighth-round knockout of Frank Martin to retain the WBA lightweight title for the fifth time on June 15 generated between 325,000 and 350,000 pay-per-view buys across all platforms it was available on in the United States, three sources with knowledge of the numbers told Fight Freaks Unite.
The fight headlined a Premier Boxing Champions card as part of its deal with Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service as a pay-per-view, but the same PPV broadcast was also available on other platforms, including traditional television and satellite services and digitally on PPV.com.
If the pay-per-view, which sold for $74.95, reaches 350,000 buys it would gross more than $26 million.
https://danrafael.substack.com/p/davis-martin-ppv-numbers-are-inI don't know though, it seems that this is already a standard in this era of boxing, around that numbers it is considered successful. And above that to even to the tune of 1 million PPV, it's legendary and top PPV for the year. Gone where the days that this is just a ordinary number and considered a failure specially if you have this kind of caliber fighter going into the ring.

^^ Different era, we might not have that 500,000 to 1 million PPV because there are going to be free streaming already and then those who pirated it and show it to their social media to gain traction and whatnot. So yeah, with that big amount of money generated, I think it could still be consider as a successful fight almost $30 million in revenue. Ryan Garcia though remains to be the cash cow as him and Tank generated more than 1 million PPV so I guess as what we says, it takes two to tango and promote the fight and for sure Tank Davis could have carry it and at least still continue to live to the hype but he needs to step up the competitive next.

If you talk about resume, I think he is already accomplished something by becoming a world champion already, and still even beating Rolly Romero who is overrated shows that he vastly improved since he lost to Tank Davis. As compare to Tank who is a paper champion and doesn't want to go and fight over great fighters without putting them at a disadvantage like rehydration clause. And why is Tank doesn't want to fight him when he already beat him in the first place? I mean he could be another belt for him at 140 lbs. But still the future is looking good for Tank after this time, a fight with Loma should be the best thing for him before getting a rematch with Pitbull.

Not going to happen now, even Canelo when he fought John Ryder in Mexico had a poor gate and people not buying PPV. And it could be that they really need a dance partner, like Davis vs Garcia or Crawford vs Spence to break PPV record or at least reaches at least half a million buys. But in today's era, its not that we it used to be that only one will carry the PPV and it will do good numbers. And it's obvious that because of the social media presence, it's now hard to just get the source of everything in just one network. Most likely this is also the case how Showtime and HBO had to close their boxing because they are losing a lot of money and no longer that profitable 15-20 years ago.

Yes, that's what I also noticed, it's really hard now to surpassed 1 million PPV buys unless the boxers that are fighting is pound for pound or both champions that is well known and for unification fight. And usually it's 140 lbs and higher division. So we only have like a a fights in the last 5 years that we might count to bring a lot of money thru PPV numbers. The competition as well with HBO and Sho that really contributed to their demise like DAZN who emerges now and maybe ESPN to be the top streaming PPV services for boxing. So we will see who's the next dancing partner of Tank so that it can at least go to half a million PPV buys specially if he chooses Loma.
