It's very true about what you said, basically gambling is not a place to be a source of income, but to gamble for fun with money that is ready to lose. That was really a risky one but you made it out safely. Every gambler is different and don't posses same level of knowledge and luck on gambling. Your friend is so irresponsible, the earlier he stops, the better for him. What I see here is desperation and idiocy, is it not a source of income that was giving him the money he was wasting on gambling, why not focus on the source and also invest the excess money wisely in other honourable channels? Must it be gambling? This is the issue with people, they want very cheap money as if their $2,000 could give them $200,000 immediately, but is it that easy? These are the reality questions he needs to ask himself and also tell himself the truth about the answers.

We don't just know when to start but also know when to stop. Ideally, we have to limit our gambling time, losing for 3 consecutive bets (at least) is enough for us to think "I have to stop and relax for now' because the more we push through, the more it causes losses.
