TSMC is rapidly equipping the Fab20 P1 factory in Hsinchu with the equipment necessary for the production of 2nm products, with pilot batches of products starting to roll off the assembly line in the second half of 2024, and the production of 2nm components in small batches should be established by the second quarter of 2025.

Samsung Electronics plans to launch production of 2nm products for mobile devices as early as 2025, and in 2026 expects to use this process to produce high-performance components. In the automotive segment, Samsung will begin using the 2nm process by 2027.

Intel will be the first to commercialize 2nm chips. Intel's Arrow Lake PC processor will use a 2nm process node.

NEWS ABOUT 1 NM TECHNOLOGY PROCESS according to TrendForce:

💥 According to manufacturers' plans, mass production of 1-nm chips is expected between 2027 and 2030.

💥 TSMC plans to reach the A14 node (1.4 nm) in 2027 and the A10 node (1 nm) in 2030. TSMC intends to set up a 1nm chip factory in Taibao Science Park, Chiayi County in central Taiwan.

💥 Samsung expects to launch the 1.4 nm process by the end of 2027. It is reported that in the SF1.4 (1.4 nm) process technology, Samsung will be able to increase the number of nanosheets from 3 to 4, which is expected to significantly improve performance and power consumption.

💥 According to Intel's latest foundry roadmap, the Intel 14A node (1.4 nm layer) will enter production in 2026, and the Intel 10A (1 nm layer) will begin development or production in late 2027.

I thought that TSMC moved its new business and factories to the United States.
After the crisis in semiconductors in the past two years and the United States pumping all the money into developing the industry, supported by the possibility of exploiting it in AI, I expect that we will see 1-nm chips in 2026-2027.

There will be a small plant in the USA, but it has not been built.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) (2330.TW), opens new tab, the world's largest contract chipmaker, is set to win more than $5 billion in federal grants from the U.S. government for setting up a chipmaking plant in Arizona, Bloomberg News reported on Friday.
The award is yet to be finalized and it is unclear whether TSMC will tap the loans and guarantees also on offer from the 2022 Chips and Science Act, the report said, citing people familiar with the matter.

If China attacks, then most likely these factories will be destroyed so that China cannot take them over, and then the world will have a big crisis in the production of modern chips.

With High NA EUV, Intel Foundry Opens New Frontier in Chipmaking
Intel is industry’s first mover on High NA EUV, enabling continued process leadership beyond Intel 18A.
Intel Foundry reported a key milestone in advanced semiconductor manufacturing with completed assembly of the industry’s first commercial High Numerical Aperture (High NA) Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV) lithography scanner, located at the company’s Hillsboro, Oregon, R&D site. Intel’s TWINSCAN EXE:5000 High NA EUV tool from lithography leader ASML is now going through calibration steps in preparation for production of Intel’s future process roadmap. The new tool has the ability to dramatically improve resolution and feature scaling for next-generation processors by changing the optics design for projecting printed images onto a silicon wafer.
“With the addition of High NA EUV, Intel will have the most well-rounded lithography toolbox in the industry, enabling the company to drive future process capabilities beyond Intel 18A into the second half of this decade.”
–Mark Phillips, Intel Fellow and director of Lithography, Hardware and Solutions for Intel Foundry Logic Technology Development
