Beloved by Bitcoin enthusiasts, the sign has spawned countless memes, derivative works, and imitation stunts

Pubkey Bar in NYC will host the auction ending at 6pm on Wednesday April 24th.
The sign will be on public display at Pubkey throughout the auction.

while I agree with you and dont care for the XCP NFT's and/or ordinals, many would argue that both are run on Bitcoin. No differently than LN is.

This image offers the best proof, with donations to the BTC address starting right after the timestamp. You can inspect the handwriting by comparing it to other auction images.

Those near Pubkey can inspect the sign IRL on the final auction day.

'Bitcoin Sign Guy'  will also issue a COA in buyer's preferred format.

As far as counterfeiting collectors items goes, this has to be one of the easier items to replicate if someone did want such a thing. Say how much you want to pay and I’m sure someone would be willing to make you one.
