Exactly. This is very true . Op is taking Bitcoin too far by relating it with regret on a sick bed. Just like you mentioned, the biggest regret a person would actually have on his sick bed is the kind of wrong turn he had in life. Probably he didn't take family seriously or he lived a careless life. Regretting about Bitcoin is possible but mentioning a sick bed regret is just too extreme.

I relate the Op thread to FOMO. It is an extremely double edged situation.

You can invest long term and NOT live your day to day life at the maximum.  Then reach 60 years of age and finally live the best of your life.

But by the time you start enjoying your money.  You will be already having health issues most likely.  You may not be able to fully enjoy your life as you wish you could.

Still, this is the good side of the story.

What if you invest long term and NOT live your day to day life and then you find out you have only a few months or years left to live.  Or you get into a car crash and die or get paralyzed.  Or many other unfortunate events.  Is investing long term worth it then?

Destiny and luck plays a HUGE role too.  It is just that unfortunately there is no way you can know when life ends.  What I know however is that I would not think about my investments on the death bed.  I would think of the suffering of my family and how I would never be able to see them again.
