Godfatherism in Nigerian politics has eaten deep into the nation’s political space and economy.it shows in clear terms that you can’t occupy a juicy political position in Nigeria based on your credibility and merit but based on favoritism as you must be ready to kneel before, worship& bow down to your godfather. However, as concerned citizens we must begin to eradicate this menace that has eaten deep into the Nation’s political structure.
https://www.thecable.ng/the-menace-of-godfatherism-in-nigerian-politics/amp/Godfatherism isn't the problem at all, there's godfatherism in almost all works of life starting from apprenticeship, mentorship, even in business partnership, there's a contact you can be going for and you'll need the recommendation of a more superior person, or a known face to be successful. As simple as a military gym I visited today, they bounced me and requested that a military man (not civilian worker) introduces me to the gym. That recommendation that I got from a military friend today is another form of godfatherism .
The problem is therefore the selfish interests of the godfathers on the political sector. They don't want to lose control of the political positions even when they've served their terms. They go ahead to bring their own candidates who will remain loyal to them and allow them continue their evil manipulations
