It depends. It might but there’s also a chance that it won’t. I wouldn’t really try and waste my time attempting it to be honest. You could create engaging and informative posts or replies instead. If you reply to someone’s post begging for merits then you might get yourself deleted as the moderator controls what and who replies in the thread.

As far as I'm concerned begging merit will never be attractive it will make itself more vulnerable with negative rating results. To make yourself attractive you have to do everything well based on your own merits only then will the rating be good. We need to get out of our inferior and low minded mentality.

There are case if I'm not mistaken that some account had been tagged because they begged for
merit but for me personally , what would be the reason why a account will beg for merit ? just to rank up?
because what is the sense of merits if you know unto yourself that your posts aren't  deserving of merit?
you are only fooling yourself then so better to create constructive  and valuable post and let others find
 it good and award a merit so those merit you will earn are the merits you deserve.
