I have always used Windows for my daily activities since I had my first contact with a PC, I've had bitcoin wallets installed on it, I only had a problem when I had my funds stolen by a Clipboard hijacking malware, I was using an obsolete version of Windows: Windows 7.

After that, I learned the basics of using Linux, I never used Windows to store bitcoin again, at least not for large amounts.

According to the matter below, to have complete or additional security, we must pay an additional amount for inscriptions, despite being one of the most used systems in the world, it's preferred by hackers because it's the most targeted and has the most reports of vulnerabilities.

Microsoft has come under fire for charging for security add-ons despite the company's own patchy record when it comes to vulnerabilities and breaches...
(...)

While Microsoft's pricing strategy might have resulted in bumper revenues for its security business, it has come at a cost to users.

Directions on Microsoft analyst Wes Miller said: "Customers need the tools to keep their organizations secure without having to pay more and more every year for Microsoft's latest top-shelf security services — which keep moving to higher and higher shelves."
(...)

Do you think that the Windows system, considering that it's proprietary software, should already have all the necessary resources for good security without having to pay anything more for it?

We know that every company must make profits to continue existing, but from what I read in this matter, with each passing year, these complements undergo an adjustment in values, becoming more expensive for customers to finance. How worthwhile is this for the masses?

For those who use Bitcoin and other crypto, does this issue of concern and security priority that Microsoft offers if you use hotwallet on a Windows PC bother you?

I've been using Windows for years and without any antivirus installed, I've never gotten any malware or been pwned again. The same goes for Linux, I've never had any security problems with it.

Since I got myself a genuine Windows OS and don't use pirated software on my system, I haven't had any issues on my PC, no heck of any kind, or the rest of them.

People who really need to worry more about Microsoft security are those who make use of their cloud storage. A lot of data leakage is always from either customers cloud being penetrated and data compromised or from third parties and all of such.

If I can remember vividly sometimes last year, due to the constant issues and complaints from customers, they made a promise to increase their security and make sure customers were in the safest hands and had little things to worry about. All this, according to the statement, was supposed to improve security by default with no cost attached, so why the sudden change this year with too many security plans to upgrade to?

Quote
Microsoft announced on Wednesday it would provide all customers free access to cloud security logs – a service usually reserved for premium clients – within weeks of a reveal that government officials' cloud-based emails were targets of an alleged China-based hack.

I've used Windows operating systems for literally a decade without almost any problem(besides when I was in high school and pirated everything, hence malware everywhere). You'll just need to watch out for what you're installing. Don't just install shady/pirated software; and if you really need to, do it on a virtual machine.

It’s been a while since I used windows but isn’t it free these days. I remember last time I used it, I downloaded some iso from the Microsoft website and it for some reason never asked for a serial number or had some trial which expired.

I assumed it’s because if you use windows they basically sell your privacy to advertisers and that’s how they get their money back. They already force you to use a Microsoft account and they track your usage and sell that info for advertisers. Hence I stopped using it.

In other news, "water is wet"

"grass is green"

Do you think MS Windows was ever secure to begin with? Why do you think it has the most serious vulnerabilities found ever, out of all operating systems? That's right, because state actors and criminal enterprises around the world find zero-days inside Windows, and keep exploiting them for years until Microsoft finds out about it. And since the source code is proprietary, nobody is able to catch this warning beforehand. If they are even willing to create a patch for it in the first place.

I've used Windows operating systems for literally a decade without almost any problem(besides when I was in high school and pirated everything, hence malware everywhere). You'll just need to watch out for what you're installing. Don't just install shady/pirated software; and if you really need to, do it on a virtual machine.

But that is not the point. Windows can be breached in seemingly innocuous ways, without your knowledge even just by clicking on a link.

No, you still have to pay for a license if you installed Windows yourself.

I mean yeah, never said it was the best OS, but you're unlikely to get infected(but definitely not impossible) if you're careful.

Personally, Linux > MacOS > Windows. I'd recommend MacOS for the masses personally because Linux can be too intimidating. MacOS is definitely not the best but it's still better than Windows imo.

I think not only Microsoft is doing it, but all other technology companies are doing the same thing and as long as we use their devices and services, we will never avoid being tracked by them. From smartphones, computers, gmail, every application... that we are using to serve our daily lives, all are silently collecting our data. You don't use Microsoft products but are you sure that Google, Apple, Samsung products don't do that with your data?

From smartphones, computers, gmail, every application... that we are using to serve our daily lives, all are silently collecting our data. You don't use Microsoft products but are you sure that Google, Apple, Samsung products don't do that with your data?

Well Google's core business model has always been to show you ads, so can't really be surprised at that.

As for Apple, you at least have the option to disable all that by turning on Advanced Data Protection.

The others are more or less like Google and don't offer any meaningful method to stop data collection and processing. You might want to stick with using privacy friendly services like Signal and Proton instead.

Do you think that the Windows system, considering that it's proprietary software, should already have all the necessary resources for good security without having to pay anything more for it?
I don't think so, we're paying for the OS itself and additional security will have to cost more on their end. That's why this business of theirs is lucrative because if someone who wants to have additional layer of security, you have to pay for that.

Although their OS comes with a Windows Defender and if that's not enough for you, no matter how many additional security you have.

It all starts on how we browse the web, with all of the activities that we do.

I've been using Windows for years and without any antivirus installed, I've never gotten any malware or been pwned again. The same goes for Linux, I've never had any security problems with it.
It's all because you have been a responsible PC user and don't download random links sent to you and don't install unknown software.
