Hello people!

I would say I’m fairly new, so my knowledge of recourses regarding crypto are low. I was wondering if there is a general place where people trade small amounts of crypto. Like I was thinking about just purchasing 1$ worth of Bitcoin or Litecoin, but I’m not sure where to start. At the moment I don’t have much crypto in the first place, mine only values around 1cent, so if something big happens with a positive effect on the currency, the value would hardly increase, at least I think so. Again, I’m fairly new to this subject.

Thanks!

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

Since you are newbie, You should start on exchange like Binance since it user friendly and you can purchase token with small amount of money using minimal fee. Decentralized Exchange(DEX) is not suitable for you since transaction fee in there is high compared to CEX(Centralized Exchange). Also I recommend Binance because it’s the most trusted crypto exchange while you probably need to cash in fiat in able to purchased crypto which you can do through the P2P section of the exchange.

Make sure that you are willing to undergo KYC first since it’s a requirements in able to open an account and use the P2P feature of the exchange.

1 USD is too low to buy bitcoin or litecoin since most if not all exchange impose a minium trade or buy amount and such amount def falls the average limit. Not to mention, the fee/s would probably eat your 1 USD or so.

My suggestion is to save up first!  Grin

If you want to learn trading and increase your knowledge for free we have plenty of trading exchange platforms that offer demo trading.
It uses virtual funds that you can practice and enhance your knowledge using different techniques and analysis, unlike actual trading which uses real money that could be a reason for losing it.

That's a very small amount in trading, it could be eaten by the fees, remember in trading there's a corresponding fee that you must pay.
1$ isn't worth it to try.  It's ideal to try above my suggestion if you don't have yet an idea about trading.

I don't think there is any crypto exchange that let the users to place orders for $1, the minimum amount I ever heard is $5 which is also nothing compared to where we are heading so I suggest you to accumulate a capital for trading before start your trading.

Meanwhile, you can practice the trading experience using demo accounts.

Here is the link for Etoro demo account : https://www.etoro.com/trading/demo-account/

The minimum order you can make in most exchanges that I know is $10. I am not sure if there are any they offer lower amounts. The good news is that almost all these trading platforms offer demo trading in their apps and websites (Binance, Bybit, phemex, MEXC etc.). Since you are trying to learn the basics of trading, Demo trading should be good. The next step is using small amounts of real money to get self-discipline and keep your emotions in check when trading.

Considering the fees are too volatile as well, that $1 of your purchase would mean nothing because it will go to the fees and sometimes it won't even be enough.

You need at least to have $10 for most centralized exchanges to have no problem with the purchase.

Even in P2P, you won't be able to proceed by just purchasing $1 worth of BTC.

I used to be a beginner too and wanted to invest in crypto, but I didn't have enough money.
But if you only have 1 cent and want to invest with only $1 it is still very less, the transaction fee will also be more than $1, and even you have to think about that.

I recommend that you collect your money first before getting into crypto investing.
For purchases and starting investments, there are many platforms to choose from.

You can use a DEX with your mobile phone swallow, or it can be directly on the local Exchange where you live,
the local Exchange can be the first choice in my opinion because there will be more clearly how much it costs, and you can read the conditions to start investing.

All you need now is to start raising enough funds, For the first $100 is a pretty good limit in my opinion, and it will continue to grow.
Instead of having to force starting with $1 it will not be accepted by exchanges anywhere.

You've head what to do from experienced forum members, adhere to their advice and you'll be on the safe side in your trading journey, if you ignore and go ahead, you'll end up worse off than when you're trying to enter. So it's really easy to summarize what you should do, $1 is very insufficient to start trading, even though it's said that you should trade with the amount that you can afford to loose, you need above $10 to exchange it to crypto, considering the transaction fees, secondly while you wait to save up more money, you can start with demo trading, to gain some experience about actual trading.

Why not start with Bitcoin investment? We're entering bull run and you can be accumulating Bitcoin, instead of saving the money. In the peak of bull run, you'd have made a reasonable amount on your ROI that you can use to start trading, plus you must have mastered some experiences from your demo trading by them.

High withdrawal fees will make it difficult to buy Bitcoin or Ethereum with $1, but some altcoins have low buying limits, such as XRP LTC MATIC, where you can buy them with a minimum of $3 or a little less.

Many years ago, it would have been possible to buy Bitcoin with 1 dollar but right now it's not. The least amount you can buy Bitcoin on a CEX is 5 dollars. Also, you should know that CEX charges a withdrawal fee in the region of $10 - $15 dollars, which far bigger than the money you have. Bitcoin investment is not a do or die affair. If you don't have money get a job or start up a business and be DCAing based on your financial strength.

I doubt if you can trade 1$ dollar worth of cryptocurrency because most of the exchange always has limited amount to trade I mean, the smallest amount you can trade such as Binance or Okx except for only auto convert when you have a specific amount in exchange account and you weren't able to trade it what you would do is to go convert to the amount you want by this way you can be to hold smallest token/coin per say. Since your investment plan is very low you wouldn't mind of passing kyc.

I'm sure you can raise a minimum of $10 because it's not a big amount but if it's $1 to trade on multiple exchanges then you won't be able to do it exchanges also have limits where you have to trade a certain amount.

Yes like other advice it is better to collect more money first so that you can trade or invest, don't expect you with $1 it is normal because it needs other costs.

Alright, what’s a good amount overall to invest in small? 20 bucks? I was thinking about 50 even. Would there be such a thing as investing too much? (too much as in would spending a hundred on it and let it sit)

Maybe not a big amount for us but for him, yes and this is the reason why he is here with this question. There are truly people who are very poor. Some can accumulate that amount but there are consequences for it like they will now hardly eat, they won't pay their bills, and other expenses.

For now, the OP's hope is if its tiny crypto can pump up and maybe he can just use that 1 dollar to buy a crypto on some exchange-enabled wallets. You know, the ones where you can buy a crypto directly and then HODL it there. That would be his best option for now because other wallets doesn't have that feature and then buying on a real exchange and transferring them to another wallet will only shoulder him more fees.

For starters, try to compare fees of exchanges available to you and try to narrow it down that way.

I think too much in this case could also be spending more than you can afford to lose. There's always a risk in everything esp if you're planning to actively trade or not planning on hodling long term IMO.

Thanks!

Trading is not just what you will start, and you will be expecting profits immediately. Before you can start making money from trading, you have to make sure you accumulate knowledge first. If you are not knowledgeable about trading, no matter the amount you deposit to trade with, you might end up losing everything to trading.

Also, the amount that you are planning to trade with is just too small, how are you going to trade with $1? I don’t know any exchange that will allow you to trade such a small amount of money. The amount that you are planning to trade with might be what you will be using for the exchange fee, so if you want to trade, it’s better that you get some reasonable amount of money and a deposit to trade with.
