Copa CONMEBOL Sudamericana 2024

The 2024 Copa CONMEBOL Sudamericana is the 23rd edition of the CONMEBOL Sudamericana (also referred to as the Copa Sudamericana), South America's secondary club football tournament organized by CONMEBOL. The competition began on 5 March and is scheduled to end on 23 November 2024, with the final to be played in Asunción, Paraguay.

The winners of the 2024 Copa Sudamericana will earn the right to play against the winners of the 2024 Copa Libertadores in the 2025 Recopa Sudamericana. They will also automatically qualify for the 2025 Copa Libertadores group stage.

I'm creating this topic to comment on the CONMEBOL Sudamericana 2024 cup, the third round is already taking place and I'm especially keeping an eye on group C in support of Internacional who were champions of the competition in 2008.

One detail that I found very interesting in this edition of the Copa Sudamericana is that there is no so-called "group of death", during the draw for the brackets, all the good teams were evenly distributed across the groups.

For me, the favorites for the title are Internacional and Boca Juniors.

But as I've already said, I'm going to bet against my team, since they've been losing all their matches

A very positive highlight is the Fortaleza team, who few people know outside Brazil and who won their first 3 games, beat Boca Juniors in their last game 4x2, and last year almost won the title, only to lose the final on penalties to LDU from Ecuador

As a "Colorado" fan, I am also following this group closely, but it s undeniable that everyone is also following Group D.

This is the so-called "death group". Because Boca Juniors is one of the favorites for the title, even after being left out of the Libertadores last season. Fortaleza is also highly regarded, as it was runner-up last year, and to complete the clash we also have Nacional Potosí and Sportivo Trinidense.

Anyway... the championship is just starting, I believe it will get even more interesting when we move on to the next phase.

The rules are a little different from the standard
Whoever finishes first is guaranteed a place in the Round of 16, but whoever finishes second in their group goes into a playoff, and that playoff will be the 8 teams from the Copa Sudamericana, plus 8 teams that finish third in the Libertadores groups
Whoever wins this playoff will go through to the Round of 16.

So there are plenty of chances for all the teams

To be honest, this team (Sportivo Trinidense) I have no idea who they are, Real Potosi I know from Libertadores and Fortaleza I haven't followed, well, from the way you said it, so it could be considered the "group of death ".

Glad that someone made up a thread for Sudamericana because this competition is way more entertained to watch than Libertadores because here anything can happen but on the same time , you must be very careful who you chose to bet on because some teams qualified this season for Sudamaericana but if you search them how they are doing in the internal championship , you will notice some of them being at the bottom right now with absolutely no chance to qualify for another Sudamaericana season. 

Anyway , I personally watched for 2 years this competition when it first arrived and I've always saw great football but also great fans who are way more vocal and passionate than Europeans.

This South American Cup will be very good, and the thread will be very interesting, I really like how Corinthias and Internacional have done, for me they are the teams that I see the most that can shine as they are, I don't know about you but for me this cup is the I really enjoy it, in fact I watch it on FOX because I like how the Argentinians narrate, not even the Colombians who narrate the matches with so many emotoins, in this case I prefer to listen to the Argentinian because they have a fairly impartial position on the teams, I think there is a little more equity, even though the Argentine teams are very good. Now, Corinthians will try to win this competition and win all the titles possible for a Brazilian club, since the South American trophy is the only one missing for them to be champions of everything, and complete their collection (just like the Internacional ).

But, to achieve this, Corinthians still needs to win a sequence of seven games and Bragantino is the first of these challenges.
In any case, I'm rooting and betting on Corinthians to win.
