Good evening.

Due to recent problems with Samourai server, I've been trying to import it to an electrum wallet (android) and wasn't able to succeed.

First, after (correctly) typing my seeds it keeps showing on the prompt that "BIP39 checksum failed". I know the seeds are correct because I've done importations to other wallets before.

And yes, I also remembered to type my passphrase properly. Many people forget.

Second, after continuing the process (even though the checksum is failing allegedly) I wasn't able to find my wallet. I tried checking the derivation path compatibility and changing it from the usual m/84'/0'/0' to m/49'/0'/0', but still no success.
I also tried other configurations of derivations like:

Deposit: m/44'|49'|84'/0'/0'
Bad Bank: m/84'/0'/2147483644'
Pre Mix: m/84'/0'/214783645'
Post Mix: m/84'/0'/214783646'
Ricochet: m/84'/0'/2147483647'

I don't know how to proceed exactly. Is it an app problem? A problem coming from the proxy server? Or maybe even a problem of compatibility I wasn't aware during the entire process?

Thank you for your attention.

p.s.: the proxy wasn't enabled after most of the trying, but then I turned it on (server: 127.0.0.1:9050 / type: socks5), after retrying all the process again, it just showed something different "Recovey failed";
p.s.2: I also tried it out some other servers, but the result was always the same as above.

And yes, I also remembered to type my passphrase properly. Many people forget.
Have you typed the passphrase separately in the next window (by ticking "Extend this seed with custom words") and not directly next to the seed phrase?
Because Samurai's Seed Phrase should be BIP39 compliant which should have the correct checksum bytes.

Are you restoring on an online machine?
If so, just use "Detect Existing Accounts" button and Electrum will search for 'Standard' and 'Mix' derivation paths used by Samurai including succeeding account_index if the first is funded.
Derivation paths that it'll search are listed here: github.com/spesmilo/electrum/blob/master/electrum/bip39_wallet_formats.json

Of course, that'll only find anything if the seed is restored properly.

I don't know how to proceed exactly. Is it an app problem? A problem coming from the proxy server? Or maybe even a problem of compatibility I wasn't aware during the entire process?
You'll notice the Network icon (lower-right) if it's a connection issue, it's red if it's not connected to any server.
On Mobile, it's on the upper-right.

Good evening and thanks for your help but:

1. Yes, I used the other window to put the passphrase there and didn't type it right next to the seeds;
2. After I've done everything right it keeps giving me nothing. The checksum keeps failing even before I type the full seeds.

That's normal since if there's no wrong word, it wont show the "Unknown BIP39 wordlist error"
but "BIP39 checksum failed" because the incomplete seed phrase will obviously contain invalid checksum bytes.

Perhaps you've typed a similar word, missing a word, few excess word, jumbled words or something.
Other than that, I can't add anything since importation of valid BIP39 seed to Electrum shouldn't have issues.

-snip- after retrying all the process again, it just showed something different "Recovey failed";
Can you show where this error showed up?
Where did you downloaded Electrum? Have you verified its signature before using?

I have a wallet with passphrase, I import it from Unstoppable wallet to Electrum and Samourai wallet and they all work. They have the same addresses and the imports were successful. There is something you are not just getting right.

m/44'/0'/0' for bitcoin addresses that start from 1
m/49'/0'/0' for bitcoin addresses that start from 3
m/84'/0'/0' for bitcoin addresses that start from bc1

You can go to Samourai wallet to know which character your bitcoin address starts from.

You can also try Bluewallet which can automatically search for funded addresses for you. But I have used Electrum most often and it does the work perfectly.

Do you use the correct language version of the mnemonic words? You can't translate the words from one language to another as then the BIP39 checksum will still fail.

If your issue isn't related to a different BIP39 word list language and Electrum shows a wrong BIP39 checksum, then there's clearly something wrong with your mnemonic words, either one or more wrong words or a wrong word order.

I don't believe that one sequence of mnemonic recovery words pass the BIP39 checksum in one wallet and the same recovery word sequence fails the checksum in Electrum with option to recover a BIP39 wallet. There must be some issue(s) with your recovery words sequence.

Sometimes people try to be "smart" when they document the recovery words (when in fact they shoot themselves in the foot if not properly documented):
  • they reverse the word order as disguise
  • they reverse pairs of words as disguise
  • they fill rows first when in fact the words are numbered in columns or vice-versa
  • other stupid tricks where the user thinks they don't need to document them, but forget their "tricks" weeks, months or years later
