Yes, the information on this thread is so true. To be honest, while a lot of people still don't believe in Bitcoin and still call it a scam, Bitcoin may be the only cryptocurrency I have a very high percentage of trust in. A lot of people's experience with some of these failed cryptocurrencies may even be the reason why they don't believe in cryptocurrencies anymore. Don't get me wrong, you shouldn't, cause of this believe that altcoins are scams too. They're not. They're just not as strong as Bitcoin. Some of these are good, like too good and trustworthy, Ethereum, but not all of them are food enough to be HELD for long.

In finance, people spend, and save/ invest, in cryptocurrency, people trade and hodl. You can very much trade altcoins, but I don't think it's such a wise idea to hodl them. Bitcoin should really be the only crypto you hold for long. You can do you if you feel some altcoins are worth hodling. This, at the end of the day, is just my opinion.

You just don't get it OP, the reason for why other hodl other cryptocurrency besides bitcoin is from the fact that there are some altcoins out there that can make you a hefty sum if you just sold it or you've bought when they were cheap and some people in the community have an ingrained thing about them that they can't afford to miss out on things especially for those that have seen bitcoin grow more than $0.1, they just don't want the idea that they miss out on the next bitcoin, that's why it's still popular to invest into altcoin because of the fact that you might be able to buy one that would make you rich and turn your life around.

For long term capacity I agree that bitcoin is the only thing that has certainty. But when it comes to cryotocurrencies in general there are some coins that may have a good rate of making profits. Otherwise the crypto space would not be this big without other coins being created and this is not just my understanding. If you want to be at a much safer level then holding bitcoin is the right choice and we only need to wait for the increase process to make a profit.

But since you are talking about a coin that can be traded in the long term then there is no historical argument against Bitcoin because it has demonstrated its strength so far openly. So yes, Bitcoin is the only one that has the ability to survive in the long term, even though there is a correction process along the way.

Either Bitcoin or altcoins I don't tend to hold any for long, I will take profit when Bitcoin makes a new all time high and buy back when a massive sell off happens or after a bull market is over, this is how to secure fund and end up with betyer amount of Bitcoin later.

What I won't do is buying the same old altcoins from the last bull market again, this is where there is a massive difference between altcoins and Bitcoin, it is very hard for old altcoins to make a new all time high again, most of them died after their first taste of full bull market.

This is why I always abandon the old projects and focus on the new ones that raised a lot of money, minus the likes of BNB and Ethereum, even if you plan to retire with Bitcoin it makes no sense to hold through a bull market into another bear market, like if BTC reach 90k i will sell all my BTC and maybe buy back in 2026 when a new lows happen.

I somewhat agree with what you've said. Bitcoin is the only "reliable" coin that you can hold for the long term. However, it doesn't mean that people should stop investing in other projects. A diverse portfolio is always better than hedging your bets on just one coin or asset. I also see potential in SOL, ETH, and other altcoins. Of course, research is crucial and you must not invest blindly.

Well it depends on the personal preference of each participant actually. Because if you are here long term like 10 or 20 years of investment, of course the most reliable digital asset that you can invest to that is available right now is Bitcoin. However, if you are just here short term so that you can play around with daily fluctuations then you can trade with major Altcoins like ETH, SOL, VET. Because there's no worry on it years from now. you're just there short term. You don't worry about fundamentals, you are just interested purely in possible 10x 100x or 50x of price of the coin short term.

It's not like there are no risks attached to a Bitcoin investment but it depends on the type of the investment, the time, and market conditions. When you invest in Bitcoin by buying some bitcoin from the spot market when the price is pretty low, you tend to have a very low risk of losing money because the market will probably go up from that point and then you can sell your bitcoins and earn some profit from your investment. However, if the same investment is done when the price is high and then it goes down, if you are patient, the risk is still low, but if you are new and impatient, there are risks that you might sell your assets and incur a loss because you bought them higher and sold them lower.

I agree with you. Talking about currencies I see no other alternative besides Bitcoin for long term gains. Even dollar and euro which used to be strong currencies to be used as reserve of value aren't trustful anymore. They are also heavily impacted by inflation, so we have to appeal to Bitcoin currency or another categories of investments such as stocks market and real estate. Anyway, I wouldn't pick any currencies besides Bitcoin to hold considerable sums of money.

And in my opinion everyone who cares about their future should start thinking on this same direction in order to thrive and remain relatively sustainable and autonomous in this chaotic world. Bitcoin is one of the few things we can trust nowadays because there isn't a central figure behind it changing the protocol (or the rules of the game) all the time.

On the other hand, that is what happens in our countries in real time. Authorities aren't to be trusted anymore. Their promises are empty, as are their actions in order to improve the economy. Of course, if we look at the survivability of BTC has been measured and tested while for Altcoins, especially those that do not have a reputation and history, will be very weak defense, here I am not saying for just one coin / token but most of them are like that.

Here are some of the reasons that may come from big investors where they don't want to play anymore other than BTC coins and continue to focus on this main coin whether for the day, tomorrow and the future.
