The ratio between elderly gambler's and younger gambler's is very high and at some point, it is important to take into consideration some factors that could have lead to that such as responsibility, I believe those between the ages of 18 years and above till 45-50 years have already t of responsibility in their hand and will be pushed to Gambling either to was off pressure or win some money to sort out some of the bills.
But those elderly men don't have such responsibility since probably they may have retired and dependant by then so gambling for such people is just fun or addictions and all this still start fresh m they young age.

In my country, both generation are fond of gambling.  Whenever I visit a land-based casino, I see a mixture of ag of people, from young adults to senior citizens.  Since gambling has been in the history of mankind, we can expect that there is always a gambler in each generation so I think the distribution of what age of people gambling is equal of course except for minors because they are not allowed to.

I can't find a definite answer to your question, especially because I didn't find any data or survey results about the age of gamblers in my country. The majority of gamblers I know are aged 18 to 55 years, but among the working age group, there are more of them than those aged 45 years and over.

If there is data then it is more likely to be not accurate since they can't take the count of people gambling on their house.  What they can have is just a survey which barely fit as representation of the actual number of people who gamble.

I guess a different type of gamble? From what I've seen in my neighborhood, instead of games like poker, slots or whatnot, most of those who are above in age usually enjoy lotteries, scratch it tickets, and Bingo. To be more specific, they usually have this weekly kind of gathering in my neighborhood where they setup a tent and tables in the road (not enough to be a hindrance) and just, well, play it out there.

In my area, people love playing card games and bingo,  the age involved in that gambling activities are both from young adult to senior citizen with mixed genders.  And most of the male gambler are into cockfighting and horse racing

However, participating in gambling in violation of the law and government regulations has become a common thing in our country. Although the government may strictly regulate offline gambling but online gambling lacks government regulation, generally the younger generation is more attracted to online gambling. If offline gambling is considered then the elderly participate more than the younger generation. On the other hand, when online gambling is considered, the younger generation is more attracted to it. I have lived in many communities and some States or regions in my country and there are some communities I went and I discovered that women are more productive by going to farm and other daily activities to provide food in the family than men. While the male sons and fathers are busy playing bet with Checkers Game and popular known in my locality "Draft Board Game" and bet on "Whot Card Game". And their.wives would go to farm or fishing to feed the families. Till date those things are common in the places I have visited in the country, mostly the elderly ones who the young once are busy using the casino centers and websites to play their games.

The elderly ones are still busy playing games with the traditional methods so most of us didn't notice that they are gambling but they bet with money and that has become automatically a gambling habit while the younger generation is using the new methods of online and casino Halls. Mostly of this elders would left home early morning to the draft games centers and stay there till evening. Playing games with one another. In most time they use places that sells drinks and smoking things like cigarettes and others. Those places are always busy with elderly people.

I think a case can be made for both age groups, the younger ones being stronger and able to visit the casino more, then again there are elderly gamblers that are literally on life support, breathing apparatuses and all shit still gambling like it's nothing. Really funny shit if you'll ask me.

You could also argue that yes, the younger audiences being more tech savvy than their older counterparts could equate to them being able to gamble more, as it could directly mean that they are able to access online casinos and gambling sites, which would've been unavailable to the older audiences, since most of them are expected to not be able to even operate a smartphone these days.

At the end of the day, I think it's not about who's who at this point, but it's all about who's more susceptible to gambling addiction. I say the younger audiences experience far more destructive consequences for gambling addiction, since they practically got their whole lives ahead of themselves, whilst the elderly, let's face it, do not have much time left on the planet.

As someone from Africa, I don't agree entirely with your evaluation. I have lived in multiple environments and in those environments, youngins are usually the ones much more actively involved in gambling than aged people. The only exception would be that the environment with more older people indulging in gambling vs youngins is underdeveloped areas. In more urban areas, the reverse is the case because its a different bull game and more bills to be paid.

For Romania ...we have a huge problem with how many bookies we have on the streets as it's way more easy to find a betting shop than finding a regular shop and that says a lot about how corrupt our Government is because they are giving licenses to almost anyone who wants to open a betting company here. That's why , we have more and more young people betting but on the same time I see a lot of elders gambling on slots and this was not the case before pandemic but somehow betting exploded and almost anyone started to bet which is pretty sad if you ask me. Both I think are engaging in gambling.  The adoption of smartphones I think contributed to all these siesta moments even in the time when they are supposed to be working.

Social media is more addictive than gambling though, this is where people are spending more time on social media trying to learn what each other is doing.  But the casinos are also grabbing attention especially if it's about national sports, people are betting on it online regardless of age.

I think with the emerging of online games, I can see that young generation these days have easily get hooked into those variety of games and eventually fall into gambling addiction. But what we also don’t know is that even elders these days are still into gambling, although they’re not visible playing with their smartphones but that’s because they are having more fun with gambling in betting shops or real casinos wherein they can socialize with other gamblers as well. I don't know the numbers for my whole country but just using my environment as basis, there are still more old people who are gambling than the young ones. I think the answer is simple on why the young ones are still not gambling, they are still busy with the smartphone games especially the online ones where they could play with their friends or even strangers.
The older ones, on the other hand, are not intrigued with those types of games, they are either in the cockpit near our place or they are simply gambling the other way, online.

Elderly ones are mostly gambling here but it depends on what games because when if they see younger ones or minors playing with them, they usually prevent them and command them to leave or go home. they don't tolerate the kids to play. It is likely to be that we came from the same place because I can relate understandably with what you are talking about but where I am convinced is where the women are the ones providing for the family while themeb lavishes their times and resources in gambling.

I am only aware that women are more hardworking basically on family because it serves as source where they generates money and also finds food to feed on.
The men are much more of fund in spending too much leisure times on gambling and gaming without assurance of profit returns.

I think the general sentiment is that younger people now spend much more money in gambling now and that's mostly due to the marketing of online casinos. The elderly generation might not even know how to use a smartphone because a technology that's out for 15 years to them is new and probably they will never learn to use it either so they don't care that much. Here in the United States I would say middle aged people are easily the biggest group of gamblers. The 30-50 age ranges. I fall in this range and I’m in a few text groups of buddies from college and it seems like damn near every one of us are gamblers. Small or big we all seem to make bets fairly regularly. We have a law in our country that only allows 18 years old and above to bet on the lottery and other physical gambling platforms and they are not allowed on the vicinities of these places either, and young people rely upon their parents for their allowance since they are still in school and do not have stable jobs.

Well, these stats may vary from place to place but in general, the elderly people or the adults in the early 30s to late 40s gamble more.
The reason is that gambling requires money and people have the most money in this time period.
Yes, people between the ages of 20 to 30 also gamble but I do not think they have control over the money as this age is basically career-building and one may not possess many funds during this time.

Also as you grow older than 50, the responsibilities take over, you may again start to get lose on the financial controls and near the retirement age, lack of funds may result in less gambling. There are a lot of factors to consider while collecting this data.

I agree with you, with now the existence of this online gambling makes many young people interested in doing it, not even just young people. I think all people do it, it's just that the more dominant ones are young people who eventually lead to gambling addiction that is not easy to stop. In my neighborhood, online gambling is very rampant, so many people in every hangout always tell their friends about gambling. It has always been the elderly who gamble here (in finland), and gambling gets more popular during economic depression that we are facing. But just this morning i heard the news on on my alarm clock radio where they said that young people are gambling even less now then few years ago, and their overall attitude against gambling is more hostile, which is interesting.

In fact every negative comment about gambling has came from youngsters, and that argument is that it's a scam against poor people who are bad with their money, and old people who play their pensions to slot machines and lottery tickets. I feel that they have more acceptance for sports gambling, but casino and lottery type games seem to be very unpopular among young people in here.

And especially middle aged people in here seem to gamble online, at least those that don't use it as excuse for socializing. Because it's safer and takes less effort.
