Anyone who uses X(formerly Twitter) often or usually get updated about security news may have noticed that there have been high profiles X accounts that has been compromised and this include

• Hoax: No Bitcoin ETF approval (yet)
  
• Trezor's Twitter (X) Account Hacked

These high profiles X accounts fell victim of through majorly through phishing scam and also it's now obvious that majority of these high profiles don't use 2FA base on report from Twitter (X) team.

These phishing scam, which is the most common and we can say most dangerous because malicious actors has so many ways to victimize others with.

While these might just last for a short time, others may already been victimize before they become aware such account is already compromise and this were use to target crypto investors.

My advice Is be careful of how you react to information you got from Twitter (X), especially if it's about financial investment or possibly avoid getting info from Twitter(X) since this is now becoming a common thing on Twitter yearly.

 in fact I would have prefer you being cautious more of anything about your privacy and finance in any platform or social media because we can never disrupt the fact that such accounts might be hacked and we did have similar issues about this here, last year were by many users claimed they never asked for a loan, stating their account has been compromised and in order to avoid this, it is required for anyone applying for loan to sign a message with their bitcoin address to prove their authenticity.

Also it's advisable to use a 2FA if such platform or social media accepts it especially when you know you are among the top profile there.

It's their accounts, not your account and hacks on their accounts will not affect your account or your Bitcoin wallet if you have good practice.

Hackers can use hacked accounts to spread malicious documents, phishing links and run fake, scam giveaways. If you have good practice, are not greed and join their scam giveaways, you will not be affected by many high X profile hack.

VPN is centralized while Tor that is better is for privacy and not security. They are both not for security.

You can use Windows and macOS and have security if you have the experience and avoid malware and device hack.

What is SSH key? I use password for Twitter and 2FA app which is very secure.

I have password manager but it is offline. It is online password managers that people should avoid.

Trezor, Tom Holland, Coingecko, and Certik's X accounts being hacked, they asked to connect the wallet in order to earn money or coins for free, then what? I didn't care at all, there's no free lunch in this world, even theymos promise to give 100 BTC to trade with my 12 seed phrase, I will never give my seed phrase.

As for Bitcoin ETF approval, what's the thing I need to care too? I never want to buy that since it's a fake Bitcoin.

There's no just way that X users would refrain from taking updates and trending information right in that platform knowing quite well the essence of its description and development.
Hacker would never cease to keep hunting to victimize people and for that reason, even when we've been equipped with all the necessary gadgets of how we can disapprove those hackers not to succeed in us including the speculated orientations on how we can maintain safety ness in other not to fall those victims, let's be aware that as these guides are being speculated, those hackers are also watching and reprogramming of how they can keep on manipulating users privacies and misleading others to the venue of scamming them.

Other forum users here has listed a lot of how we can keep our internet accounts safe and secured and not just about the X account because anyone who's vigilant and careful with the X but careless with other Internet accounts is not limited to fall victim so it's believe that the internet as a whole is not safe to be so loosed.
I'd rest on to say that we should always have every links suspicious and raises alarm to enquire at when we feel a user in the platform is not genuine.

I actually do see some of the tips that belong to this thread, like password reusing and 2FA. Those two can help prevent one account from getting hacked by those impersonators, and even password managers that upload users passwords to the online cloud are also dangerous as they could easily be hacked. Some of those tips are useful, especially for those who don't know about them or are ignorant of them.

I think you're right, we should never trust on the information or calls that we get from the accounts that are present on social media platforms. Sometimes those accounts get compromised and the malicious actors then give us fake financial information to loot our money.

I'm present on social media platforms myself but I always do my own research before taking any financial advice. I believe doing your own research is the best way to be safe from such scams. However, if someone firmly believes in a social media profile then that person should read this post to understand that such profiles can be hacked and controlled by the hackers and scammers.

Aside from the true that we should take precautions and stay update about on our security we have to worry also the possibility of this high profile accounts that are already hacked since those hackers have aim to scam unsuspecting customers of those platforms since all of the hacked x accounts belong to big firms and companies who have large customers based so the gullible ones may still likely fall victim for the hackers.


Using 2FA is sure the most secured way to keep your accounts from possible intruders attacks, and also offline password manager can still be used to safe your password, but then after all the security cancusness of one doesn't protect they device you can still get exposed.

I think what we should be more careful of is phishing links in social media. Hacked social media accounts would not be as harmful to any of your wallets. I don’t think there is any way to find your wallet through your social media.

As long as you don't get to access your wallets when a scammer or hacker tells you to do, you'd be safe.

Don't be too obedient with scammers when they are random to you and tells you to earn huge amounts of money especially on social media whether they use a hacked account or not, that's already a red flag.

i still can't understand how it is possible that platforms like coingecko or other famous profiles don't use 2fa to secure their social media accounts. even though using 2fa is now a basic thing in internet security, and especially coingecko, how could they not understand basic things like this? even though their platform also implements security on their platform, they still lag behind in this matter. this also explains how important 2fa is now in securing social media accounts. because by using security like that, someone cannot sign in to the profile freely since they need a 2fa code to sign in to the account.

There's no way people's accounts will not be hacked because normally since majority of people now chose to use same password all through their various accounts. And again most people don't log out of their devices so it's very easy to hack people's accounts now and there are times when you will want to register in a platform online and they will require you to login with either your email address or your social media account so some people feels it is an easier way to register without knowing that they are fraudsters that want to hack their account, it has really happened to me and if not that i was very fast to change my password i would have fallen victim, ever since then i have learnt a lot of lessons.

Former Twitter(Now X)  owner was hacked so you can tell how serious it is.
In summary not every information seen on twitter by reputable individuals should be taken as fact but properly researched.

The type of information one get can either break them or make them, so picking our source is important.
The truth is it's something that we don't usually consider and even if we know to research first there are people at there who ain't aware of this.
Let's say Binance account on X is hacked and they tweet we would be selling our BTC holdings to cover up our expenses
The market would react first before even thinking of researching
