I was browsing the old web about bitcoin because reading old forums on bitcoin is so fascinating to me. Thats how i just found this platform. I was reading through conversation from 2011 and seeing people just throw around bitcoin not knowing its future value just blows my mind. I wonder where these people are today. I was searching up some of the wallets and it seems like most of the people emptied there wallets by 2012 probably during some of the first pumps. I also came across many old users that still have around like $50,000,000 in their wallets still but havent been active for years. I wonder if these wallets are abandoned. Man this blows my mind its like being in a time machine.

The old forum can be referred to as the good old days. When I stumble on those topics from the early days, then it was all about Bitcoin no bullshit, no low quality posts, no merit phishing just pure undiluted Bitcoin talk going on. Those guys interacted with some of those bitcoin developers. The pizza guy was here too. Some of them have left here in to other things, some may be chilly somewhere in a country where Bitcoin isn't taxed and living their best lives.
For those wallets, some are lost the owners may have died, some have forgotten their password or seed phrase. Some are just holding until Bitcoin hits $1 million.

A lot of people from the early days actually expected Bitcoin to blow up but couldn't predict how much it would. You don't stay any talk about a weird digital system which has no value and no history of you do not trust the technology behind it. Some of those users are still hanging around today, some of the wallets you checked may be permanently dormant due to lost keys, but a few are bidding their time to move their funds.

I would act like I believe you not an alt. You sounded like you av been on a Time machine  Smiley
Well to your post
We can't really tell if the wallet keys has been lost or the owner is an holder or even dead.
Well then bitcoin barely had any value and people could mine up-to 50BTC per block
We of today don't even know it's future value not to mention those in the period where bitcoin were known only by a couple of few.

Quote
Some are just holding until Bitcoin hits $1 million
Curious how you could tell that they holding to 1 million and not $100K or$10M.

Quote
it was all about Bitcoin no bullshit, no low quality posts, no merit phishing just pure undiluted Bitcoin talk going on
Campaigns weren't around or that popular then
Not to mention some members stopped coming for various reasons not excluding Losing interest, death etc
But many are very much active till date.

This is life. Don't you think that in 20 or 30 years time, this present forum would also be referred to as old forum. People will check out some of the addresses used for campaign and will be surprised to see upto .5, .7, 1.5 BTC. They will also wish to have time machine to claim what we are earning today. Having this in mind will make us make some informed decisions because people already paved the way for us.
Talking about post quality, definitely the only available boards then was bitcoin boards. But today there are numerous boards and it seems that the quality of posts in the future will be worse than we have now. Maybe, by then AI might take over this forum and we will be missing the good old days of human conversations.

Going through it gives a nostalgic feeling because we can see many had predicted Bitcoin to sky rocket but never imagined it would cross $72k and even during those days there were people who didn't believe much in Bitcoin so there were believers and fudders but believers won. Back in those days reaching $1k was huge achivement and I still remember how i couldn't believe when BTV touched $1k it was like $100k that time and I am talking about the days between 2015 and 2016.

At that time it probably seemed crazy to anyone especially to people who weren’t very familiar with technology. 5 years before bitcoin’s launch is facebook’s and that was such a breakthrough for our world and just years after we are hearing about a digital cash backed up by nothing.

Those people took great risks and I hope that it paid off.

If I held my bitcoin that long I would probably have taken it out at some time to claim some of my profits just to put some back in again.

Being in a Time Machine right? Obviously it’s the one thing man can’t have, a chance to reverse the time as this would offset the very balance in nature itself. So, any fantasy of having a chance to buy at such a low price is in the wind. Bitcoin at that price could mean there are no more investors but, we ain’t about that now.

It’s had to imagine anyone who knew what Bitcoin was at that early stage, even with a small price projection to ever abandoning their wallet. The most that could happen is a lost key or having there coins on a non existent exchange but of course, they should have known better.

So we take advantage of the times we have in today to do the most at where we find price, when our resources do allow and the space we’ve got in this forum.

Hmm so what do you think about your own decision, would it be the right choice or should you have continued to accumulate I'm just asking to know your mindset as to whether you are following the legacy of Bitcoiners or traders. Haha Why I'm interested because I want to create a reference for my own words let's see if my words stand correct or not hehe I'm really interested in doing it a thread can help me more efficiently but that requires decent time which is currently unavilable.

There are many stories of wealthy bitcoin elite who have passed away. These deceased crypto holders, and those who forgot or lost their wallets are an interesting deflationary feature of bitcoin.

Imagine how much inherited crypto will be lost to the ages, and much that will lift the value of existing coin.

I just registered for the $PLOTS presale! Thank you @plotsfinance for allowing me to purchase tokens at the discounted valuation of only $0.015 per token, a special offer for anyone who participated in the airdrop. Tier II round is for the public at $0.025 per token. Allocation is very limited and you need to register first using the official Part III link found on their twitter. Register using my referral code CPB5 to receive 2,500 points.

Of course, it's nostalgic to read those early forum post here, some of them might have even interact with Satoshi himself. Maybe some of them are self made billionaires and still active in this community, or at you have describe, could have lost their bitcoin forever.

And you can't blame some of them who might forget their bitcoin and their private keys and mnemonic phrases. Because in the beginning, no one would have thought that the price is going to be big in the future.

old forum guys are the ones in crypto because of the technology. they started the community and made everyone who listened and opened the possibilities.

some wallets are still filled with lots of BTC though and some just send their coins out. i think they distance themselves from crypto after KYC implementation on exchanges. it's scares them away i guess. Satoshi did it and i guess they know something.

What if I told you that the time machine exists ? It can travel to year where the price for one coin is $127 USD.

This time machine is called, Monero.

The portal won't last for long and this post will be viewed in near future on the "waybackmachine" the same way we view old Bitcoin posts from the past.

Cheers future viewers, I'm here in the past, doing the right thing.

That is interesting.  I'm sure that many of them probably are abandoned.  Maybe purposefully, or maybe the users have since died or lost their keys...  One thing is for certain though and that is there are far less BTC in circulation than is thought to exist.  Just how much less is anyone's guess, but I think it's enough to where it has a significant effect on the market cap.  A shame that early on there are so many folks who lost so many precious BTC.  I'm sure that helped establish a growing market early on though.

It is way easier to hold nowadays, compared to holding on 2011... only a few people will keep their bitcoin from those years

Who would have thought that bitcoin will have this worth after a decade? I believe most of them thought this currency was just like new currency that won"t go mainstream. Many of them are now regretting for not keeping some of their bitcoins though.

And in today's situation, it is quite easy to hold because people are thinking that this currency will go bigger in the future as they can compare to what happened after more than a decade of its existence in the market. They have now the basis that this currency has some sort of bright future.

Most of the old investors only held their coins for a short time that their hands can bear until they grew weak hands and sold off, while some also grew iron hands and held them up until now. Those that sold earlier while Bitcoin was not up to $1k might still be alive and regretting why they sold so early, but they really did hold for only the time their hands could carry.

I used to say to myself that if I had also had the opportunity to buy Bitcoin in 2009 or 2010, I probably might not have been able to hold till the price reach $1k or $2k because I may not have been certain of what the future holds for Bitcoin back then. People who sold earlier never thought that Bitcoin would turn out to be the best coin today.

Well, thanks to the old forum users as they're the first ones that have believed to the potential of BTC. They've helped to carve the path and way for it to get introduced until it has come now to the place where it is.

I also came across many old users that still have around like $50,000,000 in their wallets still but havent been active for years. I wonder if these wallets are abandoned. Man this blows my mind its like being in a time machine.
They look abandon but wallets lately that are that old have been surprisingly became alive. The owners are aware of those wallets and they're just waiting for some time until they sell it. That only means that it's worth the wait and the trust and faith that they've put to Bitcoin from all of those years that they've knew it.

I knew a few people from 2014-2015 or so. They said they will not sell their bitcoin until it goes to like $10,000. And I know that one guy ended up selling all of his when Bitcoin went to $600-700 during 2015-2016.

So it’s one thing to read someone’s post but it’s another thing how that individual actually sells their bitcoins. I am sure many of those posts were saying they will hold forever but usually bitcoin pumps a little, doubles or triples and they cash out their investment. Obviously if they knew how high it can go they would of held.

If we look at the past, many people who owned bitcoin eventually died and couldn't access it anymore, maybe we can understand this because in the early days of bitcoin, no one thought that bitcoin could be what it is today, it's just that some people believed in bitcoin as future assets. I often read on social media people's experiences at that time when it was so easy to get bitcoin, for example from a faucet, but quite a few of them ended up forgetting the Seed Phrase which meant they couldn't access it anymore.

However, as time goes by, we realize how important it is for us to pass on our Phase Seed to our wife or children so that when things happen that we don't want, our assets can still be accessed. So the lesson we can take from people in the past is that passing on bitcoin assets to their family is indeed important. but before inheriting we must first educate ourselves about bitcoin.
