Jaron Ennis vs Cody Crowley For Welterweight Title July 13

After Crawford was stripped of his IBF title and elevated Jaron Ennis as a full-time champion he will now make his first title defence against the mandatory challenger and undefeated Cody Crowley.

Make no mistake about it: Crowley is a worthy challenger. He is tough, has power, and good movement inside the ring; Ennis will be tested here if he really deserves the title that was handed to him without a fight.

I expect a lot of fireworks here in this fight.

Boots vs Crawford was expected to have been the co-main event in Caneli vs Munguia but I guess it's up to Heard after Boots moved to Matchtroom. Boots vs Mario Barrios would have been a better fight but a title defense fight against Crowley is good to see whether they could match Barrios after.  

Crowley doesn't strike like a badass fighter compared to Boots but he does earn this shot. If he wins he will be the one fighting Barrios. They will not match Ennis to Spence until  Spence shows deterioration in skill level and they sure will not feed Boots to Ortiz.

Crowley is a good warm-up fight for Ennis since the guy is also a technical fighter but I think whoever has much more power on this one, will control the fight easily, doesn't really matter if you have no loss on your record when you have beaten mostly unknown opponents because when you are up against a champion like Ennis, your real boxing skill will be tested and you need to exert all effort in training to increase your chance to win because if you don't manage to give your opponent some surprises on your movements, then it will be an easy win for him. Let's see how an underdog like him will prepare for this big fight and if he can't get it right, he will surely suffer his first loss.

Nevertheless this is a good fight, there's a lot of hype of Ennis recently, since he sign a contract with Matchroom and this is his first fight. Crowley is the mandatory for his IBF belt so yeah, this is going to be a great fight as Crowley as has pops as well in his punch.

But the fight is going to be held in Ennis hometown, so for sure there will be a lot of fans going to show support for him and he wants to have a great performance for them. Might not go to the judges though as Ennis might win in a knockout or if not, then totally dominated Crowley for a unanimous decision.

I very much agree, however, this might be a chance to create another history in boxing where Bud Crawford will do another move to unify the welterweight division by fighting the other king of welterweight. Before the fight of Crawford vs. Spence, I have always considered and argued that Crawford and Spence were the kings of their weight division. However, there was a 3rd king Boots Ennis. No one have known his name before except @Boafeng and @bisdak, who are the kings of boxing analysis in bitcointalk hehehe.

On creating legacy for Bud, Ennis will be a good opponent for him and the next will be Canelo. The promoters should promote Canelo vs. Crawford! This is my wish as a fan of boxing and it should be yours also.

But it's not very sure if Heard will really match Crawford and Ennis though. This is not the case in the old boxing since they all want to see whose going to defeat who but in today's boxing, everything is monetization.

Yes, his name was not in the discussions, during the reign of Spence and Crawford, they just beating other guys and Ennis was left because the potential money fight for the two. But now that it is done, we don't know if there will be a rematch between the two or moving up to the next weight class.

So that is a perfect opportunity for Ennis to take the limelight at 147 lbs, although he is still chasing either of the two, it might be good for him to just remain at 147 lbs and get the chance to unify the division and become undisputed.
