So I'm sure you all are very familiar with the two services Cloudflare and DDoS-Guard. These two services protect your server from incoming DDoS traffic that will disrupt your operations. It is true that the service plans for these websites that actually provide this functionality are quite pricey, but they both only take card payments.

I know quite a few crypto websites that would benefit from this kind of service if only they could pay in cryptocurrency.

Cloudflare don't even have many FIAT alternatives. (AWS is the only legit alternative probably) I was searching  one and I came across to these comments:

The value of CloudFlare comes from its network, not the software they run. You can hack together a caching reverse proxy (intentionally oversimplified) pretty easily, but it won't be "CloudFlare".

this is, as the kids say, a *MOAT*. you could leak the entire source of cloudflare and cloudflare's value would be unaffected.

Pretty much what they said.

Cloudflare is kind of what you call: "a monopoly".

It is not like some start-up that accepts crypto will be as big as cloudflare anytime soon. If that happens in the future for some reason, cloudflare won't exist that day.

I found some few of them but i can't tell how reliable they are in terms of ddos protection and their uptime status in terms of hosting. Compare to CF they are just youngsters.

You may check it below, both accepting cryptocurrency as payment method.

Do you mean that the owners of those "few crypto websites" can't convert their crypto into fiat and can't pay for the service offered by Cloudflare? Really? Grin
What do you mean by "crypto version of Cloudflare"? The DDOS protection service offered by Cloudflare has nothing to do with the crypto industry or blockchain technology in general. It's Cloudflare's choice about whether or not to accept crypto payments. I guess that they won't be getting any new customers simply by adding crypto payments, so there's no point for them to do such thing.

Soon as I read OP I realised "crypto version of Cloudflare" isn't what I thought it meant. I thought it meant a blockchain-based version (or at least, a less private form of distributed serving).

I seem to recall during one of the latter revival attempts for Namecoin, which was a "crypto version" of DNS (curiously it still seems like you can do it now) that were was a project trying to replicate Cloudflare on a decentralised blockchain. Trying to look it up but can't find it.

I think Telegram also tried to do both (DNS and content delivery).

Am sure one or more of these projects survived (yes, I'm asking if anyone knows).

No, not a decentralized version - as the servers and datacenters would all have to be centralized for DDoS protection to work anyway - but just something that you can buy with crypto.

I'm not talking about bulletproof servers you can rent either, but a true layer 3 / layer 4 protection service that you put your whole server behind.

In a recent video I saw that random movements of a substance inside transparent liquid containers are recorded by a camera and these movements are digitally encrypted. This is how Cloudflare generates unique protection. This is interesting way of using unpredictable security keys.

Those are just lava lamps and they don't help me with my predicament here.
