Scam ads on Bitget

I guess the merchant you traded with was using Floating rate. There are two types of rate when placing an add on any exchange 'Floating rate and Fixed rate' and you were supposed to see a pop message before placing the order which give you the window to decide either to continue with the merchant or not and it's obviously captured in your screenshot with the option to cancel. I have experienced this on a good number of exchanges and I don't see it as scam. It's a good thing you shared cos it has provided an opportunity to enlighten users further.

You are right with your objection but I want you to know that most Nigerian market used a fixed rate, they don't allow Nigerians to use a floating rate because since I have been using exchange p2p even before coming to this forum, I have never click on selling adds and then see a pop message for option of fix or float price, there is nothing like that but perhaps Bitget exchange allow such option for Nigerians but this is very bad because Nigerians are opportunist that will used such ignorance to manipulate sellers, not a good options to be honest.

Another thing is that the government will have more reason to ban p2p because this looks like scam and a lot of noobs who understand how this works will be cheated, sell at lower price and then buy at higher price, such behavior will tend to increase the price of dollars against the Naira and this is what the government dislike because it's kill the valuation of Nigerian currency.

This is exactly what happened to me this evening at bidget. I sent 32 USDT from another exchange to bitget account which was reduced to $28.67which I was angry about it, secondly I saw #1500+  when I placed the Oder I didn't see that the price has changed from #1500+ to #1370. I have initiated the the Oder before I saw the price. The guy quikly send me #39k instead of the #43k I initially saw. i replied him that am not happy about the deal. he just said I initiated the deal I had no option than to release asset but I told him I will tell my friends to be careful with him on bitget. below is our conversation


So I have learnt my lesson today, and I will be vigilant next time.

Sorry for your loss and I had been using Bitget recently but haven't had this experience but precautions are always necessary and I am bit shocked to see how these traders can change the price and I think there needs to be a system which should notify us if price changes and should proceed only post our confirmation like it happens in Binance as this is the biggest loophole and guess what it's your own countrymen cheating you.

This topic is similar to the one raised by rachael9385 in this post with the only difference being that her experience was in Kucoin whereas yours is in Bitget. I think what happened here is that they publish the ads with good offers but during execution, the offers are adjusted. It is a deliberate attempt to scam people because those who did not calculated what they are expected to get will easily continue with the transaction and get under paid.

If you need an exchange for P2P, Bitget is the worst one that you can go to. Do not be lured with high price. If you are looking for a better centralized P2P exchange, there is one that remains among the common ones that I have told you people before but I will no more mention it because I do not know who is reading this post right now but I believe you people will easily understand.

I have had the urge to open account in Bitget but somehow I end up not continuing. Perhaps it is because I had doubt about their reputation even though there was no reason to justify that. It's just a shame what the Nigerian government is making their citizens go through just because they want to control inflation even when the percentage of the citizens using cryptocurrency is still low but rapidly growing.

Well IMO most of this type of vendors wey dey do this kind of tricks, them dey for almost every exchange wey we know about, but if we never see for some maybe nah we never come across them before. And them no go fit use the same user name and the same details for other exchange if them dey there. This bitget exchange, somebody been done tell me about the exchange and I done create an verify everything but I never fund am, and this thread done open me eyes say nah so e dey, so the best thing nah to avoid am as e dey so.

I don't think he'll be able to do this anymore cos Bitget has improved their P2P trading with some changes... Part of it is Sellers won't be able to change price in the middle of a trade. This means those abusing this floating order won't be able to do that anymore..you can confirm this and revert Thankie..

As I see the thread I just recall say I dun see something like this for here wey another user being dey complain about and I doubted it then but as two different users dun report the same thing on two different exchanges I no get doubts again. I being talk am from day one say this one wey new exchanges dey get inflow of Nigerians to trade P2P for their platform as Binance dun delist Naira trading pairs, say scam go begin dey full for the exchange and scammers dun see ways to use carryout their scamming without you knowing, imagine if you no dey observe well na so you go go for wetin you no bargain for. Nigerian scammers sabi spoil things ehh, I believe say this exchanges get reason for allowing this features on their exchange but dem no get am for mind say scammers go take advantage of the feature and I doubt if this was available on Binance when it was still allowing Naira P2P.

Bitget belike e no dey allow Nigerians to verify their account again because the last person wey register been updated me say verification dey suspended when him try verify him identity. I no like all this new exchange names wey I dey hear. Dem no get reputation like that and e go bad say we lose the small money wey we get say we dey find how to sell them to Naira. Na why me still dey recommend local merchants over this new exchange wey dey introduce Naira P2P to take advantage of the volume wey we get.

Yeah true you're right, I haven't had the experience too. Going through the thread I saw a mention that the loophole seems to have been fixed, that's quick action imo and they need to be commended for that. Our countrymen is funny, leveraging any little opportunity to play smart.

I doubt if this was available on Binance when it was still allowing Naira P2P.

Binance has floating price but if the the ad owner change the price before the order is opened, it will always take you back to the lists of available ads to choose another ads, instead of asking you to proceed. This is how it is on the centralized exchange that I am using now also. So I will say Binance was not having the scam feature.

So technically the scam feature wasn't available on Binance exchange that makes it stand out from the rest of them. The floating price could have been a means of merchants giving their potential customers different options to choose from to trade with but on this other exchanges scamming are exploiting the feature for their selfish benefits. For those using those platforms, have you tried reporting this to their customer care maybe they don't know about this flaw and if you guys report it they will fix it. Sha na una sabi to dey patronize all this platforms wey no dey take the safety of their customers serious. Still I dey talk am say instead of patronising centralized P2P exchange make una look for local trusted merchant and patronize to enjoy real Naira P2P trading.

Well I no know if them dun lift the suspension or not but avoiding this exchange is a recommendation from me because all this centralized exchanges can't be trusted. The federal government go still get to them at some point and dem go delist Naira too when their exchange begins to pick up trading volume. The better solutions for now na a local merchant until a better DEX P2P get launched.

This one na pure daylight scam 6k loss for this kind harsh weather wey people eye dey red for money well in addition to what Obim34 said, I think it's our government that is causing all these nonsense and most of these exchange are /is fully aware of what our government is doing and since the aim of those exchange is to make money they are now using what our government is doing to play with our intelligence . Morever, it is very important for an exchange to maintain their integrity even if they are at advantage to dupe or scam people but failure to abstain from it will result to loss of customers and fame they have before.

I have been Binance, OKX and Bybit without any issues. Many people that I told to use OKX compared it with Binance P2P and said it was very good. Bybit did not have express but almost comparable. I only wanted to test Bitget to see how the P2P is. I even sent the money from Bybit at the time. I did used not only Binance before Binance disabled naira P2P and I had no complaints.

For those using those platforms, have you tried reporting this to their customer care maybe they don't know about this flaw and if you guys report it they will fix it. Also I do not think you will be able to use P2P on centralized exchanges without verification.
