i don't think dogecoin needs such a feature since people don't take dogecoin too seriously since it's a meme coin. and who wants to hide their transactions through dogecoin anyway? it's much more efficient to use alternatives like monero or other privacy coins, than having to hide your transactions through dogecoin which wasn't designed for that in the first place.
Well, some people don't want to move to another chain. They want privacy using the coin of their choice. Just like how Bitcoiners don't want to use ETH for smart contracts. They prefer a sidechain or L2 network which uses BTC as its native currency.
Dogecoin is open source, so making a privacy mechanism for it (either internal or external) shouldn't be much of a problem. It's just that developers aren't interested in doing this. The general public are only into DOGE and similar "meme" coins to make a lot of money (speculation). Not to use them seriously for day-to-day payments. Utility in the crypto industry is often overlooked these days. Hopefully, Dogecoin remains decentralized forever. We can't predict the future, so lets hope for the best.
