From what I think it was a kind of an experimentation which made history and today the history of bitcoin is never complete without making mention of that date. laszlo's aim for offering to purchase pizza using bitcoin when he could have just used fiat currency was to push forward the idea that bitcoin can be used to purchase just any item or product.

 And it is this outstanding action by laszlo paying 10,000 bitcoins (which wasn't worth much as at the time) for 2 pizzas that opened the floor for the use of BTC in the exchange of goods and services that we do today.  And as something not to forget it makes a commemoration of that date a necessity. Hence, the yearly bitcoin pizza contest in the forum.

That's means that some experience way back to the time can make an history. Like for example is when Lazlo pay Bitcoin for his pizza and we all know that the price of Bitcoin are too small.  And then now realizing that when the 10,000 Bitcoin spent these days then only in the high class levels can afford, but from way back then I till now those simple transaction make an a very known.history  in the world of gambling and those people who actually know about it they can't forget it in their mind.

Bitcoin Pizza Day is not anniversary. But it was a memorable incident where Laszlo bought a large size pizza with 10,000 bitcoins. which is one of the most memorable events in the history of Bitcoin. Because of this, all bitcoin users commemorate this day with a pizza celebration. It introduces the event to new Bitcoin users and there is much joy to be had in the celebration. But if one wants not to celebrate it then there is no problem. But I think as a bitcoin user it would be great to celebrate such a milestone for bitcoin.

Well, people may say this is not an anniversary because it is not official, nevertheless, they celebrate it yearly, so what is that?

For me, Pizza Day is now symbolic of Bitcoin because it is a monumental event that flashes back to May 22, 2010. This is the day that Laszlo Hanyecz bought 2 large Pizzas with his 10,000 Bitcoins.

This is the first-ever transaction performed with Bitcoin, so the day is special and it has become a day to celebrate by all Bitcoin lovers, and invariably an anniversary because May 22 is happening every year, so it is now annually celebrated.

If at all no one celebrates this day elsewhere, we users on the Bitcointalk forum celebrate it in one way or another. As part of this celebration, a Pizza contest is often announced to celebrate it by giving out monetary gifts to the winners.

It's sort of like a monumental milestone for the community, it was the first recorded transaction that involves bitcoin in exchange for something that's usually given for the price of a fiat and people see this as something to celebrate because it's a big piece of history for bitcoin. The reason that we celebrate this is because we see it as a way for the people to see how far bitcoin's gone and it's a long road already and there's no end in sight for bitcoin yet, it also put things in perspective for other investors how they could be making a lot of profit if they just didn't sold too early.
