We've made some changes to Ixcoin to implement Artz's 51% time attack and to support merged mining. This is a compulsory update otherwise your Ixcoin client will not communicate with other updated nodes after block 43,000. The blockchain remains intact.

What's new in 0.3.24.3?

  • Fix for Time-Travel Attack to Difficulty Algorithm

This is the Artz Fox fix for the timetravel exploit. Takes effect on block 43,000. (commit)

  • Merged Mining Support

DoubleC added support for merged mining. Takes effect on block 45,000. (commit)

  •   Other Miscellaneous Changes

    * Blockchain lockin at block 36,500 (commit)
    * Added bitparking to seed nodes (commit)
    * Removed DNSseeds (commit)

Where can I get the source?

The latest source is available at https://github.com/ixcoin/ixcoin

Where can I get the executables?

On Sourceforge:

ixcoin-0.3.24.3-linux.tar.gz

ixcoin-0.3.24.3-linux-src.tar.gz

ixcoin-0.3.24.3-win32-setup.exe

ixcoin-0.3.24.3-win32.zip

Looking forward to your comments. Thanks!

Thomas.

Thanks for the update however it fails to build on OSX due to the missing auxpow.o & .h in the makefile.osx once they are included it builds fine. BTW if you want to complete your binary collection above I can send you the universal binary I have compiled up it is using the BDB version 5.1 not the 4.8 that was called in the makefile, it is ~8mb compressed.

Thanks for the tip and build. I'll modify the build file when I get a chance. Do you happen to have a link to the build so I can include it on the ixcoin.org?

EDIT: committed fix  https://github.com/ixcoin/ixcoin/commit/5c2d93addcf72b41d1e074d60167b9a514966384

Some Info on coin (hopefully no math errors):
=================
144 blocks a day
13,824 coins a day
21,000,002 total coins
reward halves after block 210,000
All mining rewards other than transactions stop at block 227,499
block 210,000 is estimated to hit 2/25/2015
block 227,499 is estimated to hit 6/27/2015
However, due to re-target algorithm times should be shorter.

How/why does "mining stop" in 2015?  How will transactions be processed if there is no mining?  Do you mean that fees are to replace new coins rewarded for mining?

"rewards other than transaction" oops.  Thus no more 96 or 48 rewards added to blocks.

Gotcha, so are there mandatory transaction fees with ixcoin?  As far as I can tell, bitcoin only has voluntary transaction fees.

However the merged mining may allow ixcoin to survive with very little transaction fees.  I would think long term that no trasaction fees would not be good for the chains life.

15,000 IXC sent to DoubleC for first half of merged mining bounty.

We'll stick to Bitcoin's transaction fee scheme for now - except if it becomes apparent in the future that changes need to be made.

...I can send you the universal binary I have compiled up...
Do you happen to have a link to the build so I can include it on the ixcoin.org?
Is it wise to publish a binary of uncertain provenance for public download?

Is it wise to download any of the binaries around here, unless you audit all the code yourself before compiling it you should not be running any of it with that concern...

Run them inside a virtual machine that you don't use anything else for and you're almost certainly safe.

How often do you get the chance to work on a potentially world-changing project?

I had a 1050 coin bounty on there for best ixc graphic website before end of year.  Since no graphic was submitted I decide to give it to the ixc best site.  ixcoin.org is full of spam so I decided to post here.

Winners
1. http://blockexplorer.sytes.net/
2. allchains.info
3. http://mmpool.bitparking.com/pool
4. https://vircurex.com/

Both 1. and 2. are down for ixcoin at the moment.  If neither are up by 1/15/02, I will send it to 3. doublec.

"I examined IxCoin’s sourcecode after unsuccessfully imploring him to drop his losing bet on IxCoin. Quickly it was apparent that the entire thing was unstable and a get rich quick scam. Within 6 years, the system would become unstable and shut down overnight because of technical reasons."

Question: Does the block reward just go to zero?  Will blocks still be created just with no block reward as long as there are connections and miners?

If not maybe nasakioto can add a 1 block reward after coin 21,000,002 is minted?
