For me I believe the very first step to battling gambling addiction is abstainance in fact to Battle with any type of addiction is actually through abstainance however different methods can be applied however the most effective is usually gradual limitation and abstainance. Most time it's very difficult to promptly stop an addict from gambling. However you can help them by allowing them to gamble but. For only a limited period of time. Overtime you can continue to cut the time duration they spend during Gambling activities little by little so they can slowly adapt and they can easily end up abstaining from it.
Another thing to also do is limit how much money they spend on bets. Sometimes when people try to stop addiction all of a sudden, it doesn't work out well since it has become more of a habit making it difficult to stop all of a sudden.

When someone tells you their problem, if you aren't willing to help them why not just tell them instead of making them feel remorse?. We can help others by giving out possible suggestions and not judging them, whuch I think is very wrong.

It's just realization really imo. In my case I was on the verge I suppose? But realizing that made me easily change my ways, plan out my finance and stuff like that. If it was an addict trying to get out, then it's definitely going to be harder and I'd suggest having someone help him in some way. Not just support like "You can do it, I believe in you", that shit can go eat dust but rather stuff like trying to check up on me every now and then, helping me manage and plan out my finances, stuff like that. When someone has experienced an addiction to gambling and they choose not to tell other people then this will be very dangerous when they cannot manage the gambling activities they do later and they will continue to gamble and no one can help them to reduce their gambling activities.
I think it will help them a little if they tell us about their gambling experiences and we can also advise them to change their gambling habits so that they can gamble by limiting their gambling and also limiting the funds they will use for gambling, I sure if they have the desire to change and with a little help from others they will certainly be able to recover from their gambling addiction.

Yes I have one that always run to me always complaining that his addiction is making him not to achieve anything in life that though he usually win most times but will be tempted to gamble all to lost. So I advices him that anytime he wins a reasonable amount that he should use some amount to buy some property or start up a micro business that will be  providing a regular income than wasting all to gambling. I can relate here, I have a family member who I really suspected is experiencing a gambling addiction because most of our family members this family member of us is really into gambling even a long time ago and right now it has become worse because of mobile phones and easy accessible to gamble.

I already talked to this family member and I can feel, it's really denial, they can't accept or tell that really experiencing gambling addiction and that's the difficult part.

When I'm still in  government office working there was this department head that becomes my closest  and with years of being co worker(my boss) he open his biggest secret and problem and that is they are near going to divorce(with his wife) because of his gambling addiction and ask me what to do if I am in his shoes.

I ask him if he will let me talk to his family and he let me handle things , so  i first talk to the parents and then the wife . and yeah both parents and wife do their best to help him out and luckily he did cooperate and before i resigned in that office? he is a gambling free and now living a life not getting his finger in even cards.

Maybe sometimes we are not the one who can solve the problem as we  are only there to be the materials but still it is the gamblers decision to what will happen to their lives .
