For an exchange service when they are going to announce their business which board is more appropriate?
- Service Announcements
- Service Discussion > Exchanges

I think both sub-boards are self explaining but I can see many exchanges has launched their announcement thread on Service Discussion > Exchanges. It looks fine though but to be honest after looking closely between the two sub-boards, I am now confused a bit about where to suggest a client to post their ANN for an exchange service.

I think the Service Announcements section is good for ANN, but obviously, ANN threads are for discussions, so the service discussion section is also better, besides I think the second option (Service Discussion > Exchanges) is much better than the first. Besides, the definitions of both threads are really a little confusing, as they say, we should list new services, while on the discussion>Exchanges they say Discussions about specific exchanges. So this means we can post it anywhere as ANN is for discussions. Best of Luck

Based on the descriptions, actually exchange can post their thread on three board, because they fit. Exchange is a service, it's a Bitcoin service, and it's a specific exchange. So it depends on the @OP which board he want to post.

But, personally I will choose service announcements, exchanges board is more like a discussion about the exchange where we ask public opinions.

New services and significant information about existing services. Do not create excessive "announcements" just to advertise your service

Service Discussion
Comments and questions about specific Bitcoin services or about all Bitcoin services.

Exchanges
Discussion about specific exchanges, Bitcoin ATMs, and Bitcoin debit cards.

Considering your explanation which looks logical by the way, can we say that we can post same topic to all these three boards when it is an exchange? Because posting it on one board means you are missing the traffic from other two boards. In advertising perspective it is a loss however from forum engagement perspective, you have three discussion page for same topic which become messy.

I'm not sure how to post in all these three boards without breaking the rules of duplicate posting.

You can post same thread in Service and Service Announcements (Altcoins) board if you have bitcoin and altcoin as payment options.

We are here talking about an exception and I guess it was not discussed before.

Do we even need a specific section like "Exchanges"? Following it we can have different boards for Service Discussion > Gambling, Service Discussion > Mixers, Service Discussions > Wallets etc.

I think a moderator will be able to give us a good suggestion. It seems you and me both are making our own opinions based on our own interpretation of the forum guide.

Service Discussion > Exchanges is a better place for exchanges in my opinion.
Other exchanges already have ANN topics there, or moderators moved them in that board, and Service Announcements board can be used for announcing any other bitcoin related services.
Both child boards are in under Marketplace board so it's no mistake creating ANN topic in any of them.

I have one question for you, after reading the first part of your reply. Where it is written that only Bitcoin based promotion is accepted? I am still trying to find it since, nothing has been broadly explained in the rules. Or, I am not that good to find an update on the Service or Service discussion boards.

It's because there is Service Announcements and Service Discussion for Altcoins-related topics, so it's common thoughts that this boards are for Bitcoin based only, no explanation needed.

A moderator, I don't recall his username, moved most of the exchange Announcements from Service Announcement to the Exchanges board. I think the idea was to have all Bitcoin related exchanges make announcements in the Exchange's board and the Service Announcement board would then be left for other services but the whole thing is conflicting to me.

We still have other exchange ANNs in service announcements.

When I read about the purpose of the two board. It makes what the Mod was doing even more confusing.

Service Announcements (child board of Marketplace) - "New services and significant information about existing services. Do not create excessive "announcements" just to advertise your service." All Bitcoin service website announcements should go here

Exchanges (child board of Service Discussion) - "Discussion about specific exchanges, Bitcoin ATMs, and Bitcoin debit cards. ". Emphasis on Bitcoin - discussions about altcoin issues on exchanges don't belong here.

I visit Service Announcements more than the other board, so that would be my preference. I'd expect a user with a problem to start a thread in Service Discussion when needed.

I also prefer visiting the Service Announcements board more often. Discussion is more for a neutral discussion about service, most often when there is a certain problem or ambiguity, so opening a topic there helps to get more direct answers and that the topic is not cluttered with regular posts.

I assume you are asking because of Zeusmex ANN. I saw earlier that ANN threads of similar services (instant exchanger) were moved by the moderator to the Exchanges section. That part of moderation is a bit unclear to me, given that we have some exchanges that are in Service Announcements and while one part is still in Service Discussion/Exchanges.

I assume you are asking because of Zeusmex ANN. I saw earlier that ANN threads of similar services (instant exchanger) were moved by the moderator to the Exchanges section. That part of moderation is a bit unclear to me, given that we have some exchanges that are in Service Announcements and while one part is still in Service Discussion/Exchanges.

I discovered the confusion when I was working with the Zeusmex team and about to suggest them where to post the ANN :-D
Eventually the team decided to post it on Exchange sub-board because we saw some established exchanges have their ANN but it always looked better for me to have it on the Service Announcement sub-board.
