Vegas Gambling Tips/Do's and Don'ts

I've got a bunch of airline miles I am needing to burn through and crazily enough one of the few places I've never been to in the United States is Vegas.  I gamble online , St Louis, Lake Tahoe and that's about it.  I hear you should only go to Vegas for 4 days max, as a week is a burn out, and also Vegas is just very good at separating you from your money.  I'm just curious for those in the know, what would be your biggest "do's and don'ts " in Vegas?  Are there certain games that Vegas "sneaks" in worse odds than say when gambling online?  Also, I'm curious if Vegas has adopted bitcoin at all..if anyone knows? 

Just some basics is all I'm looking for really.  My favorite games are Texas Hold'em, Roulette, Black Jack, and Checkers (kidding).  Thanks!

I used to love the Las Vegas gambling experience but the modern version has gotten sterile and boring (from my perspective). I mean what is the point of going from playing on a computer screen at home to playing on a computer screen at the casino?

I can recommend the buffets, though.

I am not sure I understand what happened in this hand. Thomas made a $130k bet, Steve makes a call... Thomas folded! Why did he do that? The commentator is also confused, was Thomas scared of the clubs? But why did he fold, he could just wait and win the hand...

This is one of the most confusing hands I ever saw. I understand that Thomas feared clubs but didn't need to fold or do anything, he already won this hand. Am I missing something here?

Loool ...You replied the wrong thread. Your reply is meant for this thread, Pokerplayer lost $500k as he folds while having straight? and not this one you dropped it on. If I were a moderator, I would have moved it for you. Sadly, I am not so you have you do it manually.

I haven't been to Vegas but plan on visiting soon. Therefore, I think this is a very useful discussion for me. I'll take note of the casino. I know ChiBitCTy mentioned his favourite games. In your casino recommendations kindly add one that has good slots. They are my favourite.

I haven't been there but I wish that I will go there someday but the best advice that I've heard about is that you should never get yourself get befriended by the locals because whatever they're doing to befriend you, they're most likely trying to hustle you, that's the only thing that I can think of when it comes to this kind of thing, another thing is the timesharing scammers there, don't give them the time of your day and they can take it up when you reject or ignore them, it's a scam that will waste your time in Vegas. Another thing that would probably make things much better for you is that you also have to make sure that you're making the most out of your experience when you go there. I think most common tourist tips would also apply in Vegas, I don't see how they could be any different from other country or tourist destination.

I don't really like judging people but I think I can give exception sometimes, especially on that place. Many people lose there and they are now finding ways on how to have a capital to go back playing again. I don't really get that Timesharing scammers you are telling but I guess they are like the ones who we talked about earlier, so the same measure we will apply and that is ignore every stranger we came across or trying to get our attention.

The only difference of Vegas is they are a gambling capital, so I think it feels incorrect when you say "make the most of his experience" because that sounds like he will need to spend more money playing gambling there which is definitely not recommended.

I read somewhere that few casinos in Vegas got bitcoin ATM. Obviously gambling must be one of the highly contributed industry on adaption of bitcoin hence Vegas casinos must be having some favour for bitcoiners for sure.

The best advice one can get when going to Vegas is to stay away from cocaine and get lots of sleep. At least that’s what my advice would be. I remember going to a casino in Vegas with a restaurant that accepted BTC back in probably 2016, but it was all a gimmick. Maybe it’s more normalized now, but as a Bitcoiner I guess my best advice would be to spend your USD instead of your BTC.

Thanks for the recommendations everyone!  I just think that going to vegas is one of those things that everyone should experience at least once in their life.  One of the main reasons I want to go is to play in a few poker tournaments.  I'm a bit rusty, but I use to be pretty damn good at poker and would love to test my skills there.

If I thought the cocaine would be any good I might give it a dabble but I'm sure it's garbage like most is (not that I like doing it anymore anyhow).  And I hear ya, I've been trying to use less and less bitcoin and more USD as much as possible.

Chinese the only "do's" ypu need to know is enjoy yourself.  Don't get pressed with gambling enjoy the whole thing.  Not that you shoudnt gamble but do it for entertainment then you won't see yourself chase betting your whole trip there.  Second tip go to old town.  They have a lot cheaper table minimums than the casinos on the strip.  Also that's where the non deuchy people hang out.
