First bull run for me and I do not have any Bitcoin yet but do want some after this bull run to hold until 2030 at least.

Is it best to take my altcoin profits in the next 6-12 months at the bull run peak and then buy Bitcoin in 2026 during the next bear market?

I see some advise to just convert my profits straight into Bitcoin but in doing that I would be buying Bitcoin at the highest prices so don't understand that.

Just assume you have to first source the income and invest Bitcoins if you feel the need. The public will not just buy and hold bitcoins, they will sell them. 2030 is still far away and people are busy with the next Bullran for now. Many have the goal that if Bitcoin reaches $100k many will sell and many will hold. I think it's better to buy bitcoin now because if the bitcoin price takes a correction in the upcoming bull run then it may not take a big correction which could be higher than the current price. And if you have a long term plan of 5-6 years then buy and hold bitcoins now.

They are right when saying convert your altcoins to bitcoin but of course, you also have to consider the current situation and market price. Although investing in bitcoin is worthy and profitable of course, it is much better and more profitable when buying during a market correction or during a bear season. This is the usual strategy that most investors are doing, selling their altcoins for bitcoin because we know that this is only the most trusted and reliable project that we have in crypto.

But I think waiting for 2026 is too long enough. We can't ensure that price correction will start next year but there are some speculations it will be.
You'll be rather preparing for it and start our journey in bitcoin early than 2026.

If from the beginning you do not intend to hold bitcoin and only invest in altcoins, what is the guarantee that you will definitely profit from those investments and switch to bitcoin later? You haven't even made any profit on altcoins yet, so don't make plans to convert us to bitcoin yet, it's too early to talk about that.

It sounds easy to say but I really doubt you will do what you say. If owning bitcoin is your top goal, then you should have it first in your portfolio.
Investing all your assets in altcoins is a very risky decision and I hope you know what you are doing.

You can actually start accumulating your Bitcoin now instead of waiting till the next Bull run in 2026 which I doubt because it's not certain, don't forget that those altcoins are not reliable, however I still don't see the reason to delay till 2026, so i would advise you invest all your profit into Bitcoin, you can use the DSA method to help you start accumulation no matter the price, wether high or low.
If you can HODL till 2030 then, it's obvious your a long time holder, which I think will help you get your return in investment.

Yes, you are right there, because for sure, after the bull run, the price of bitcoin will be expensive or high. Maybe entering a bear market, it's possible that the bottom line will be the price it has right now, and this is what I think; I'm not sure.

What do you mean highest prices? If you plan on buying during a decline a price then you can time it to swap your coins either from fiat or from another altcoin when the market is down. Or there’s also another option wherein you can convert first your coins into stablecoins after you’ve gotten profit. That way your money is already stored safely and you can easily convert it to bitcoin when needed.

I agree , one is that you should move all your altcoins to bitcoin now because the real bull market is yet to come and bitcoin still has a chance to deliver significant profits. Second, you need to wait until the bear season comes , when bitcoin has corrected significantly and that is the right time to buy bitcoin instead of switching to bitcoin when it is at its peak . But it is important that you sell all your altcoins before bear season, otherwise you will have nothing left as many altcoins will become worthless when bear season arrives.

More importantly , investing in altcoins is risky and you need to make sure that you are investing in the right project that can bring you profits in the near future. Otherwise , your plan will fail.

It can be said that you want to get rich quickly through altcoins and after achieving your goal you will return to bitcoin to ensure safety . This is not a new idea but not too many people can do it because of uncontrollable greed.

Profit taking is part of the goal in any investment, so you are completely free to harvest your profit from any of the Altcoin investment. In as much, investing in certain Altcoins are very risky so investors are not meant to keep their funds for a longer cycle as not to lose their entire funds due to scam or DIPS that may never experience a bull run. Meanwhile, Bitcoin is the safest of investment to make, so I believe your decision on selling your Altcoin for profit then to invest it into Bitcoin is a good idea and through the process of investing it should be done with the right approach.

So you can wait from now till 2026 before investing on bitcoin, maybe before then all your assets on other altcoins could have vanished away on losses and you may not be left with any profit again to use in making bitcoin investment, why not do that now, take the profits and invest in bitcoin, we are still on the post halving market pump, which means if you can buy now, you have higher chances of making profits till we reach to a new all time high of above $100,000 and by the year 2026, you could have achieved what you're meant to started with already.

That depends on the altcoins you have your investment in because not all altcoins will soar during this bull run, those that will soar in price, we don't know how high their price would be, in giving us returns. Therefore, having your portfolio made up of 80% bitcoin and 20% altcoins, is not a bad investment approach toward the bull run. 

To me, the advice Aanuoluwatofunmi gave wasn't a bad one for someone who doesn't believe in altcoin investment. He's just letting you know about the risk that comes with altcoin. Because altcoin investment can have you at a loss side if you fail to sell on time during the altcoin peaks. Every altcoin has its peak, it will be hard for one to know at what price a particular altcoin will reach before they start dumping in price.

It is best to invest more in bitcoin now that it is at "post-halving market pulp" according to Aanuoluwatofunmi, and have a selling price at heart when you will sell your bitcoin holdings.

Your plan is very good and very interesting, and it is always easier said than done. I have also heard and witnessed many people say that they will not be greedy, will restrain their greed, and be satisfied with what they have. But the result is that after the 2021 bull season ended, the bear season came and none of them made a profit, and even lost everything when they were too greedy and could not control their greed.
You have never been through bull season before and do not have any experience with it, you should remember that experience is something that cannot be learned through other people's stories.

I don't like to hear others promise and explain too much, I like their actions and especially the final results they achieve. So now we won't need to say too much or give a long explanation. I will wait for you to come back here and let us know whether you have completed your goal or not.

Maybe according to op the current price of bitcoin is too high so he is looking for another alternative by choosing an alt that is quite affordable and it is possible that the price could soar by tens of percent. It depends on someone when choosing an alt, whether the alt has strong fundamentals or not. If you choose alts just to speculate, I think this is very risky for your finances. However, this comes back to each individual in determining their investment choices. I personally prefer bitcoin over alt, even though the price is too expensive, I don't care, I will continue to accumulate until the time I determine and sell it when it reaches my target price.

Personally I would say you should go for your conviction. Everyone here, including me will tell you to save play by buying bitcoin because it is the safest of all the coins. If you need to buy bitcoin there is no need to wait for a perfect time you start DCA from the day you have funds ready. But as it goes bitcoin will not give you 50x or even 10x highest in my perception right now is a 4x. The Altcoins will give you that and they may still dump with same volatility too. So the play is in your hands if you feel you can take the risk of losing them then gamble on with them. But a safer landing is always bitcoin because you’re not at the risk of it rug pulling like the Altcoins.

OP You really need to understand that Altcoins are just similar to gambling because they don't have any guarantee that they will give you a profit. The biggest fraud of Altcoin happened recently with LUNA, who stole bundles of dollars from people. Apart from this, there were many other altcoins, like OneCoin, Todex, Squid Game, etc., that stole people's money by rug pull. Even I myself have been a victim of this altcoin fruad. I have lost thousands of dollars in Solana rug pull. So now I have 70% Bitcoin in my portfolio instead of Altcoins. So I think you should consider your stance so that you don't fall victim to the same activities. If you are sitting in the hope that i will organize profit from altcoin in bull run, despite the fact that altcoin can also rug pull and give you loss instead of profit.

I understand the risk with Altcoins. Have never heard of those Altcoins you mention above so they were probably outside the top 500 or something and risky at the time?

There are thousands of altcoins but the majority I hold are in the current top 100 and probably half of them in the top 50. Cronos, ICP, Hbar, XRP just to name a few.

My portfolio is +114% currently and we still have many months maybe even a year left of the bull run so prices will rise a lot higher so I’m hoping to be at +1000% profit at least come the end of the bull run and that is when I will cash out and then convert to Bitcoin gradually.

I don't have any specific advice, but I think if you have a clear plan with clear targets for any crypto, then just let it go. During the bullish phase, switching between categories is not a problem. Han gives you a good position sometimes if it is just a loss of behavioral control then you are just being controlled by the market. But to be honest, on a personal level, I have more faith in bitcoin than all the rest. I do not deny the opportunities from altcoins, but the risk factor makes us have to be conscious to make informed asset management decisions suitable way.

Altcoins are very risky so cannot be a long term investment.  But Bitcoin is a very strong currency, the profit is guaranteed for long-term investment, so if someone can make a profit through trading from Altcoin, then he can invest that profit money in Bitcoin. Then he will get big profit from it after a long time. If one can hold his money invested in Bitcoin for at least 10 years then he can expect to get at least 10x profit.  In the future, the price of 1 Bitcoin can go up to millions of dollars due to the supply of Bitcoin.  So there are still many opportunities to be financially successful by investing in Bitcoin

I'll like to advise you that these two market are closely related to each other. If you invest into altcoins then you have to see the BTC market correspondingly in order to have clear insights about your investment in altcoins.

So it will not make much difference if you invest into any of the food altcoins or the BTC but I would prefer the investment into BTC.

I'll like to advise you that these two market are closely related to each other. If you invest into altcoins then you have to see the BTC market correspondingly in order to have clear insights about your investment in altcoins.

So it will not make much difference if you invest into any of the food altcoins or the BTC but I would prefer the investment into BTC.

There are no guarantees Bitcoin price will multiply 10x in the 10 years and there are no rules someone need to achieve financially successful by investing in Bitcoin, there's nothing wrong to make money from altcoins or business.
