The 'heroic' flap with about a fourth being burned off (during re-entry) was still actuating and allowed the ship to splash down successfully.
Wow!
They're now displaying the "heroic" flap outside of SpaceX headquarters. I saw an interview where they were asking Musk if his decision to use steel instead of some other metal now feels vindicated after receiving criticism on it and he said that any other option would have melted in those conditions. I guess it's great to be proven right. Also pretty awesome for Cybertruck owners to think their truck could survive a trip through the atmosphere (the body anyway). Try that in a Rivian.
