Other than Bitcoin every other crypto is considered altcoin. Altcoins can have different subcategories like shit coins, utility coins and etc but they all are considered altcoins. In case you forgot this is a dedicated forum for Bitcoin that is the reason why there is not a dedicated board for Ethereum. If you want to discuss about Ethereum then you are allowed to create a dedicated thread on this board.

That's just it — it's just a word that was coined years and years ago; don't overthink it. It's a neutral word that shouldn't even be derogatory. (But obviously derogatory if you're a Bitcoin maximalist.)

I know most altcoins have their own features/limitations, but that's just one part of the market, and through different periods we have different opinions on them. Even bitcoin was considered a scam before, anyway, the altcoin environment shows complexity and volatility, the general altcoin category here is more than enough for us to be able to exchange everything necessary related to it to different problems without further decomposition.

This is a Bitcoin forum, even from the name you should understand this, Bitcointalk mod was generous to allow other Altcoins here, Ethereum too has its own forum can you go there and open thread for Solana or BNB on the forum, I believe the answr is no. Altcoins sections carter for all these tokens where the top or shit coin  which I believe is good for fairness to every other projects

Certainly, Bitcoin is the pioneering cryptocurrency and no other crypto currency can match its deflationary nature, inherent security and decentralization. All other are categorized as altcoins including Ethereum which holds significance importance  due to its widespread real life use case from creating smart contract to dApps, NFTs and many mores, its ecosystem has attracted investment of billions of dollars from influential investors reflecting its value and utility.

There is indeed Bitcoin and altcoins. And tokens too. But, although some maximalists have a way too narrow opinion which you also were unlucky to see, no, not all altcoins are shitcoins. A tiny minority is good coins.

Since Satoshi Nakamoto have chosen to remain anonymous, thats the more reason we're watching bitcoin pumps and crash in the market, because the top whales and traders are completely lost because there's nobody to hold or sue. Everyone have their pattern, check what happen to the CEO of Luna Terra when the project crashed, he was sued for huge sum and also accused of fraudulent activities, Nakamoto wouldn't want to settle for this, would he? Crypto is absolutely one of the best smooth projects to get acquainted with.

We all have different understanding when it comes to this one, and not all shitcoin are under ETH.
In fact you can consider other coins aside from Bitcoin are shitcoin but then again that’s on a different view. We make money with altcoins and that’s fact, Bitcoin is not perfect that’s where Altcoins came to solve the problem. We understand the supremacy of Bitcoin but its better to give some attention as well to other good projects or else you might be missing a lot of opportunities.

I am not getting offended here but just explaining all the Altcoins are not shit coins because they are utility tokens and they have some purpose like they aim at making our life easier with their innovative solutions. But on the other hand you have memecoins and NFT you can term them as shitcoins. Not all the Altcoins are shitcoins as they are alternative to Bitcoin.

How do you mean a separate category? ETH is an altcoin and shitcoins are altcoins, but that doesn’t mean that ETH is a shitcoin. Let me use a popular example to describe it. All hackers are programmers, but you can’t say that all programmers are hackers. So understand that Altcoin is the family name and ETH is under it. So are many other tokens/coins (NFT, gaming, meme, etc), and shitcoins too.
