There must be a manual attached in the box ,try checking if how much mAh in that battery
same as how fast the charger included is. We cannot give you answers with that as each
phone model and brand has different battery life and charging time.

But ad long as you are using the original charger ?then that must not take 5 hrs before fully charged .

Normally as a new phone you are meant to charge it as soon as you get home because already when you go to buy a phone  after you have checked everything about the phone you see that the first thing they will tell you is that you shouldn't forget to charge it when you get home, because normally when you buy a new phone you we notice that the battery we not be full it will be 70% or 80% but once you charge it to 100% it will make the battery to last for you, however I think once your battery is 100% their is need of keeping it in the charger  because sometimes leaving your phone in the charger why know that is already full is not really adviceble because once you are doing that within a short time period you start having battery issue.

How long should we charge the battery of a new mobile phone?

Dude, the new era mobiles use Li-ion and Lithium polymer batteries which don't need extended first-time charge like the old model. If you want you can charge it until it reaches 100% for the first time then just use it as you wish.

But every kind of battery has it's life cycle so if you go from 100% to 0% then charge it all the way up to 100% does more damage and reduces the life of your battery then charge it until 80% and use it until it reaches 20% the plug it back until it reaches 80%.

In your case, I've read that they're telling the customers to charge it first with 100% and then don't let it drain and once it reaches 20%, you have to charge it.

So charging it for the first time, it's fine to full battery. And then practice the latter about 20% and never drain it.

Most phones today have their option to prolong the battery and won't charge to 100%. The options are just about 80%-85% of battery so it's lesser charge time.

And once your phone reaches that percentage of battery, they will stop charging automatically. This is common with iPhones and samsung phones.

But you know what, my old phone is used to charge at 100% and I have never changed the battery of it. It's still alive and kicking and I am sure others have their old phones like more than 5 years to date and still working flawless and never replaced the battery too.

It depends are you using an iphone or an android?

Because as far as I know if you want to preserve battery health of an iphone then you shouldn’t constantly charge it until it’s fully charged. But for me who use android, I just charge it until I see the 100% symbol.  Grin
