Make bitcointalk.org great again: Add a gaming board, already!

Gaming =/= Gambling

It's a shame that I bring this up and the first thing someone says is "Oh yeah gaming? Sure go to the gambling board!"

What the heck?  

I'm talking about a place for us bitcoiners to talk about videogames.  Gaming is a large enough category to have it's own board, so don't say "Oh just use off-topic".  I'm talking about a place to talk about League of Legends, World of Warcraft, CS:GO, Minecraft, Fortnite, Genshin Impact, Maplestory, Roblox, Apex Legends, SMITE, etc... you know, actual games? A place to share screenshots, wins, losses, funny moments, etc.

Gaming culture is of the internet
Bitcoin is money of the internet
Some of the first people to mine bitcoins were gamers on their old-school gaming laptops.

A gaming board on the front page right above or below Off-Topic would make this place ten thousand times better, and more friendly to newer on-boarders.  Who, demographically speaking, will be majorly consisting of 13-21 year old males.  13-21 year old males love to play video games.  Give them a place to talk about it, and perhaps they will find the beauty in bitcoin like we all have.

Op is referring to video gamings not casino based games. But Like op said, such boards can be placed on the off topic board. Or just rather create a thread there where you can discuss gaming.

@Hatchy, in my opinion, videogaming is too big of a topic to just have one thread on.  That's why I said not to mention off-topic.  It needs an entire board in my opinion.

What does gaming have to do with cryptocurrencies? Did Ubisoft create a crypto game? There are many crypto casinos but not crypto games, so there is no need to create a separate board for gaming. Bitcointalk with its old-fashioned design can't attract 13-21 years old gamers, this place is not a Reddit. This is an old forum dedicated to cryptocurrencies. It has all boards that are related to discussions around Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. Sorry but gaming will remain in off-topic.

There is no gaming board on Bitcointalk. You can use off-topic for it. If you want admin to listen to you and add gaming board, look for a board that half of what they are discussing there are gaming. People on this forum are discussing mostly about gambling and not gaming.

If I was a non-gambling/non-crypto game developer, I would still definitely run a signature campaign on here.  Why non-gambling/non-crypto game developers don't run signature campaigns on here is a mystery to me.  This place is the first website started by the guy who created the future of money.  It doesn't matter that gaming has nothing to do with crypto, that's why it should be under "Other" where off-topic is.  It needs to be seen on the front page because it's too big to just be one thread in off-topic.

Video games aren't interested to advertise on this forum and that's why there's no board dedicated to video games. It's possible to have a separate board for video games that accept cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin as payment system but the audience to that board isn't much wide on this forum.

Here most of us refer to online gambling as gaming and there's a dedicated sub-board to online gambling on this forum with its own child boards where topics related to gambling are present and most of us are active as part of that board.

That's a serious issue, because the rest of the world defines gaming as getting a pentakill in league of legends. Not getting lucky at roulette.

I personally think this place is key to the mass adoption of bitcoin, so naturally assimilating with true gaming culture in any way would help not only bitcointalk.org but bitcoin as a whole.

Something as simple as adding a "Videogames" or "Gaming" board could be a great first step in doing that, no?

They probably don't think they have enough of their target audience here to run a campaign and advertise their products. There'll be some gamers who are also interested in crypto, and that's the target audience of crypto related game promotions, regular games have other ways of advertising which has worked for them.

I personally think this place is key to the mass adoption of bitcoin, so naturally assimilating with true gaming culture in any way would help not only bitcointalk.org but bitcoin as a whole.

It's not about "enough" of a target audience, it's "who" the target audience is.  There are many wealthy forum users on here.  Many.


Also now that I think about it harder, and digesting what people have said so far, I think a "child board" inside of off-topic would be the best place to put a gaming related board.

Exactly!  It's worth exploring at the very least and it wouldn't hurt anyone to add.  I don't blame you for not sharing the same enthusiasm as I do.

I'm sorry. I understand how anyone could vehemently vouch for something they really wanna have around, but.... I'm afraid Theymos doesn't even wanna bring in any form of distractions, regardless of whether it's a unanimously suggested or not, talk more of this coming from just you alone? ...

A lot of People that engage in discussions in here have got real life problems to solve; That alone should make anyone exclusively passionate about how they could get over it.  Others could also be focusing on how to startup an investment plan on a greener side. ^{[WFT am I supposed to tell you about video games for? Not sure that adding Gaming board would make Bitcointalk great again. I'm not against your idea, but I doubt that we have big demand for such board. Maybe I'm wrong.
But in general, it's forum about Bitcoin and it's very rare thing that they add new board not related to Bitcoin. It's even hard to get new board for altcoin related stuff.
Though, in Gambling discussion board I see some topics about Dota or CS:GO, but it's mostly discussed as esportsand about betting on it and it's not something what're asking.

Everyone is entitled to their own and what they want, so to me, it's not just about being obsessed with the game; it's also about trying to engage in conversation with people who also like the same thing as you.
 
This is a Bitcoin forum, no doubt, but it's not only discussion in relation to Bitcoin that's being discussed here; there are other things being discussed; that's why we have the off-topic and also economics, even politics and society.
 
If the OP can create a thread and topic about a video game and it attracts people to discuss it, then they can make it a place for discussion for them, or better yet, since it's about a game, we gambling board can still fit in some of such discussion, in my opinion.

But the only problem there is that most people, if such a thread is created off-topic won't even see it talk more about getting involved in it. That board is just on the total ignore list for most people in this forum, forgetting that there are fun things that could be discussed over there.

The op is correct that a gamer/miner rig would have some interest.

Not sure if you could fill board.

Back In the day I built mining gaming rigs.

There was interest.

BUT btc no longer can be mined via a gpu.
And Ltc doge can no longer be mined via a gpu
And eth can no longer be mined via a gpu.

Xelis can be mined with a 2 card gaming mining rig.

But profit margins are low.

The pitch to a gamer is tough now.

If you can get a board going I would support it but I think altcoins section would likely be the place to pitch mining xelis with a 2 card gaming rig.
