Make bitcointalk.org great again: Add a gaming board, already!

We have no way to get a stat unless we have a board.

That sounds like a challenge to Loyce and Ninja!  

I'm assuming these are staff members capable of adding new boards?

If so, I would love to hear their input on it.

I administrated SMF software and I don't think staffs has the authority to add boards. But anyway, considering the vote, I went for a "Yes".

This forum focuses on topics related to crypto if that particular game given by you OP does not relate to any board this might be considered an off-topic board because there's no crypto essence given on these games or else you will change your contents like the trending NFT games recently like the era of axie infinity, etc. Also those games have their own community board which is more related discussion into them like the patch, meta and new events.

When this forum was launched, no industry had a crypto essence!   Trends change, and today's gamer might be interested in crypto, since it is a "spread out" investment from GPUs they can understand.

I believe GameStop tried that already.  Bitcoin will never be used as a defacto standard of microtransactions.   It requires power to pay, and energy will be is high demand / short supply as the environment continues to change.

Creating a board which is not likely to get traffic is not being ahead if the curve. When the traffic build a board will become necessary.

Bitcoin is already successful in some industries, but they never ask for a dedicated board here in Bitcointalk.

Your request can be granted, but it will not make Bitcointalk great again just because it was added; you're just assuming it will, you have to prove through data and facts and support from votes that what you think it will is possible.

It can't make bitcointalk great again, but at least there's something new in bitcointalk. If there is  voting on whether the bitcointalk community wants to add this gaming board, I will definitely vote yes. Of course, all the games discussed should be related to crypto like it should be NFT GAMES. If they are not, they should not be posted here on bitcointalk. There are so many NFT games out there, but there is no reliable forum that can discuss those games like the bitcointalk community.

I find it hard to digest that majority of users here are playing games.

Video games are popular among teenagers mainly and I doubt that a lot of teenagers have the money to be able to be involved with crypto. So, this section will not get enough activity here if it is created. It also does not match with the theme of the forum. the subtopics should be having some relation with crypto.

I have no problem with that, The Altcoin board is good, and rules that stipulate that it should be NFT games just as you stated, or else it will just be moved in the off-topic.
If it's added here we'll see if it really will generate traffic and interest.

Is it insulting to all of us his assumption that for Bitcointalk to be great, a non-Bitcoin or Cryptocurrency should be added, Bitcointalk is still great, and a platform is non-existent in the Crypto ecosystem unless it's introduced here.
What you've recommended is good on the Off-Topic board, any industry that has and will have a section here partake of the reputation of Bitcointalk and not the other way around.

I agree with you, it could be a good idea since GameFi belong to the crypto universe and is not really represented here. It could maybe belong to the micro-earning section probably but it doesn't seem to be the case in people minds at least, since nobody talks about this topic there. So a gaming section dedicated to GameFi games and non-crypto games could be relevant IMO. The forum cannot cover all the topics in the world, but I agree with you that gaming is not far away from the cryptocurrency area and is linked to it through gameFi, so it could attract newcomers.

In 2024 I don't think anyone will consider [well depends on the financial condition obviously] anything near to 1 BTC as the entry fees. I can consider 0.01 BTC the max 🤪

GameFI is just a trend like DeFi and the others, we can't create a board for every trend so the altcoins boards fit all those trends discussion since they aren't Bitcoin related topic. What type of crypto are used mostly in those GameFI, is altcoins obviously and not Bitcoin so having their discussions on the altcoins boards looks more suitably. If a sub board was to be created, assuming that is going to happen, it should in the altcoins section. I doubt if we'll be having a big deals with GameFI come next 10/15 years. All I'm just saying is the whole gaming with crypto hype will die down then what happens to those boards we created (we get more dormant boards that nobody visits).

Cryptocurrency can be linked with everything and gaming isn't a bid deal, the attraction to the forum should be about those would want to associate with like minds and discuss cryptocurrency first before anything else. And I guess we all can agree that the forum can't truly cover all topics through creating their individual board but if we have interest in any topic, we can always create a thread and connect users with the same interest and if the discussion on the thread outgrows the thread, we can then request for a board and await the adminstrative action.

Video games aren't interested to advertise on this forum and that's why there's no board dedicated to video games. It's possible to have a separate board for video games that accept cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin as payment system but the audience to that board isn't much wide on this forum.

Here most of us refer to online gambling as gaming and there's a dedicated sub-board to online gambling on this forum with its own child boards where topics related to gambling are present and most of us are active as part of that board.

If the videogames have crypto in them, it's most likely in altcoin so I think that in a way, we do already have a board for Gaming which is the Altcoin Discussion, I don't think that we should even add that because in my opinion, gaming is such a big word that I don't think it will fit in just one board, gaming already have a lot of dedicated forums so why stay here when there's some website out there that's passionately talking about gaming only.

Yes, video games and gaming industry has reached huge levels and that's why a single board won't be enough to cover most topics related to gaming, and as Bitcoin community we don't need such board because that isn't related to Bitcoin and it's useless to create such board on this forum.
