     Fellow BitcoinTalk members,
I come to you today with a heavy heart to share my unfortunate experience with the closure of an AWS mining website I had been using. In June 2019, this platform suddenly shut down, leaving me and many others without access to the Bitcoin we had been mining through their service.

At the time, this AWS-based mining website was quite popular, touting the advantages of their cloud infrastructure and promising reliable returns. Drawn in by their claims, I decided to invest my time and resources into their mining operation. However, the rug was pulled out from under me when they unexpectedly ceased all activities.

The website's abrupt shutdown left me unable to retrieve the Bitcoin I had earned through their mining service. Despite my efforts to reach out to the operators, I've had no success in recovering my funds. It's a devastating loss, and I'm sure I'm not alone in this community who has faced a similar predicament.

I'm sharing my story here in the hopes of raising awareness and preventing others from falling victim to such mining failures or scams in the future. This experience has been a harsh lesson in the importance of thorough research, diversification, and caution when entrusting our hard-earned cryptocurrency to third-party platforms.

If any of you have gone through a comparable situation, I would be grateful to hear your stories and any insights you may have on navigating the aftermath of such a loss. Together, we can learn from these experiences and work towards building a more secure and reliable cryptocurrency ecosystem.

Thank you for your time and understanding.

Sorry to hear for your loss! By AWS mining website do you mean cloud mining of Bitcoin?

At the time, this AWS-based mining website was quite popular, touting the advantages of their cloud infrastructure and promising reliable returns. Drawn in by their claims, I decided to invest my time and resources into their mining operation. However, the rug was pulled out from under me when they unexpectedly ceased all activities.

Cloud mining of Bitcoin is nothing but a scam, I am sorry to say but you were scammed and nothing can be done now. I am certain that they never paid you a single satoshi and all that you saw was what they showed on their website wallet.

That is how it works they abruptly shut down or they make excuses that it is not easy to mine Bitcoin. You will never get access to the scammer as they know how to hide their identity on the internet. Mining Bitcoin using a phone, laptop, desktop or the cloud is impossible after 2017 and now it is next to impossible. A lot of such cloud mining websites came up after the 2017 Bitcoin hype, they used the opportunity to scam innocent individuals like you.

100% in agreement with pakhitheboss,

99,9% of the cloudmining sites out there are plain scams... There are a few that actually mine. They sell you 100% of their risk for a very small cut of the (potential) profits. Even those "real" mining sites are usually not a good deal.

With the info you gave, i'm pretty certain you were scammed.

I have no idear why you opened a poll, but the only poll option that makes *any* sense is seeking legal advice... But be carefull if you do: there's a whole ecosystem of scammers that prey on scam victims. Don't entertain PM's from people that tell you they'll help you... If you really want to seek advice, go to a physical lawyer in your country and ask him/her.

Sorry about your loss, I hope it's not too big. Cloud mining sites are all scams. They give you some profits at first and then steal your money. Even the profits you get in your account are all fake. You don't actually have any Bitcoin.

Regarding the poll you open about your question "How to find lost Bitcoin"
Options 1 and 2 are not useful in your case because you do not actually have Bitcoin in your wallet, but rather fake Bitcoin in your account and it cannot be recovered or even benefit from insurance.

The option 3 is acceptable, although I am sure you will not benefit anything since they closed the site and fled, and their identity is unknown.

AWS Mining website is nothing but a cloud mining scam. You can call it a ponzi shit! Majority of the ponzi scammers are now active in this market and they make unrealistic promises.

Please note one fact that in order to mine Bitcoin from AWS, you need to keep EC2 instance on and it confirms that you will never make a dime after paying the AWS invoices. It's super costly to maintain and it's highly likely to make losses.

So whenever you see such things being advertised, get out of there. I am sorry that you had to learn this in a hard way! I hope the amount is not too high.

You can't mine bitcoin using any EC2 instance or any sort of server as a matter of fact. All mining is now done by specialized ASICs so you are just wasting your time if you attempt to do such a thing.

Only coin you can mine profitably now on servers is Monero, and its derivatives. The rest either have high difficulty requirements or have moved away from PoW entirely.

Lost my Bitcoin from AWS Mining Site Closure what do u mean by the AWS here, AWS that I know is Amazon Web Services and the product never had a mining related or crypto related unless its ethereum node. AWS itself hate crypto miner.

If this a cloud mining than you been scammed like other cloud mining did. Since cloud mining is not really profitable business unless the business itself is ponzi scheme. So I believe your bitcoin is lose forever

If it's a cloud mining website, you probably didn't have any bitcoins in the first place and if you paid for it or something like that just to operate on their mining service, you just got scammed of your money and your time, got to remember that there's no such thing as cloud mining, it's already 2024 and there's still people that are falling for this trap, hopefully we can get some lesson out of this and hopefully the victims of this type of scam lessens until there's no more victims to be had, it's not the end of the world for you OP so make sure you're not sulking over this too much, moving on is the best you can do and seeing this as an opportunity to learn about what happened is the other benefit that it's got.

Putting together your leads from the service (mostly AWS Mining that took place somewhere pre-2019) I was led to this website[1] which after August 2019 stopped being able to be fetched by WayBackMachine (WBM). Granted now it looks like a crypto news service but if we use WBM we actually find that the website previously hosted this "miraculous" mining service[2] that presented their information in English in 2018, only to be changed to Russia a year after[2].

OP: This tale is as old as time by now - the only entity that stood to gain any profit were the people running the service and you never had any bitcoin to begin with. Just look at the numbers - by paying them $4000 USD you would have 10 CMP that roughly translates to ~ 1.23 bitcoin per year according to their calculator[4]. On June 13th 2018 the price of bitcoin closed at $6,349.90[5] which means that, at the time of your investment, you more than double your gains in a year if all went well. What business would be profitable in those terms with such high % of gains in such a short period of time considering the market? The only ones that achieve that are the ones that are fake all along - such as it was the case in here.
