I'm not saying Monero's price isn't going to go higher. But no matter how high the price goes, Bitcoin is still going to outperform it. Also, Monero's price will only look good if Bitcoin's price is looking good. This is because the support behind Bitcoin is much stronger than that of Monero.

There is no doubt that any altcoin that is available in the market moves up or down when Bitcoin moves in that direction, whether it's Monero, Ethereum, or any other strong altcoins with a lot of supporters and investors, none of these coins or tokens can be compared with Bitcoin because Bitcoin has a very large user base and it has an extremely large investor's base, and no other cryptocurrency can have that many investors which means they can't compete with it. The growth percentage can be different and that is because the price of Bitcoin is already pretty high, which means that for Bitcoin to do a 2x or 3x, it will need a lot of investments, but another coin or token worth $5 or something wouldn't need that much. We need to know how we can differentiate between different cryptocurrencies when we are making our investments, and we should know our goals and targets before doing that.

You made good points and explained them well. I totally understand what you mean, and your opinion is really on point. I was trying to compare Monero as a coin to hold, with no less attention than the new ones. I think it was recently delisted from Binance. However, I'm not sure why, or maybe it wasn't Monero. But to be realistic, you are right with what you stated, and that's mostly how it happens when it comes to altcoins and Bitcoin.

Let's hope it will stay that way No hope needed my friend, it's technically superior to Bitcoin in every way so the evaluation of Monero will eventually surpass Bitcoin.

Monero has something different than the market that is going on for it, and because of that I think it's clear that it will not move along with the market at all. I would consider that it is going to be something that will move differently from bitcoin as well.
The main reason why monero has something different is the legality of it, in most cases hiding what you have is illegal and monero does allow you to do that, it doesn't mean that you have to be a bad person, but a bad person like a drug dealer could hide their money in monero, and then move it around whenever they want however they want, and a normal regular citizen could just say they invested early into monero once upon a time, and launder their money, hence why monero is not liked by governments and that's why it goes up or down based on different things than the regular market. I do not think that we are going to see this make big changes for monero, it will still not be a great coin, but it's a good one for sure.

Thanks to Monero I don't care what government thinks, my money is my money and it's not their business how much I have or what do I do with it Monero is not only great, it's the greatest and the only cryptocurrency project that sticks to the cypherpunk roots. If I wanted to launder money I would use FIAT. It's the same "illegal" FUD we had with Bitcoin in 2010, it's the best time to invest before it gets into tens of thousands of dollars in evaluation. Your money, your choice. I know Monero will soon hit the sky even if Bitcoin plummets. Monero is unstoppable and the market is starting to recognize it. People need efficient transaction processor. https://x.com/shopinbit/status/1811651225005195471https://x.com/CoinCards/status/1809702144288882870Monero is taking over Bitcoin wherever both are present as it's better in every way. You can thank me later for good advice or join /r/buttcoin and be angry at the whole cryptocurrency scene because you didn't invest when you had the chance. Monero does today what Bitcoin promises to do in the future, that's why I think Monero is better "store of value" aside from being better digital cash while Bitcoin is "store of hope" without real world utility aside from speculation.

Last month price change: Bitcoin: -10.26%Monero: +4.83%This year Monero is proving it's not only a better cryptoCURRENCY, but also a better store of value. That’s a very misleading comparison. Monero only has 0.08% of Bitcoin’s daily trading volume. It’s illiquidity works to its benefit over short time periods because people are unable to dump it in large amounts when the market is crashing. Over the past 6 months XMR is down 13% against BTC, so we can pick and choose whatever period is most convenient to different narratives. The 1 year chart shows they are still pretty correlated despite not being in lockstep the entire time.

While I can see that people could have a better understanding of Monero this way, there is no way that people could make me buy one, that is not going to happen and we should try to avoid it as much as we possibly could. I know that it is going to take a while, but we are going to get a greater result eventually without a doubt.
Hopefully, we could see people get into Monero if they want to, and they get what type of return they want as well, but that doesn't mean that we are going to end up with a result that would be great for us, we could see a terrible result too, so we can't be really too careful about it. I personally prefer Bitcoin, at least it's allowed and not really something that would be taking too much time.

All I did was show charts, if reality hurts you - that is your problem. I personally prefer Bitcoin, at least it's allowed...
You see, I don't like allowances - because it's only a fictional, temporary freedom that can be taken away at any time. We can already see discussions about taxation on unrealized capital gains from cryptocurrency - that's pure theft. Enjoy. I prefer Monero because it does not need allowances; it's private and fully decentralized, making it more resilient against the increasing government tyranny we see every day. I can sleep well knowing my government doesn't know how much I have, and they will never know. They only know how much I trade to FIAT, and from that, I pay tax. If you don't see the difference between a surveillance coin like Bitcoin and a private coin like Monero, you'll soon find out the hard way. People are already shifting towards Monero due to its better scalability. The end user will choose the faster, cheaper, and more private option. Why would anyone use Bitcoin, which is slower, more expensive, and has practically no privacy? Monero is a Cypherpunk dream come true. Bitcoin is for Cyberpu**ies who need permission from the government because, without it, they don't have the courage to use it. This is why I consider Monero a better long-term investment than Bitcoin. It has balls, and it doesn't break them for anyone. I am forever grateful for beta projects like Bitcoin for showing us what not to do and for the whole PoW revolution. That's my personal opinion, and it will never change, so don't get mad or upset. You respect people like this: And I respect people like this: /Over&Out.

Personally I've no problems with Monero surpassing Bitcoin's market cap (but yeah OP, I still don't get your Bitcoin hate. And there are also some other altcoin projects which still uphold cypherpunk values, like Grin). But I'm also realistic, and so I'd be already be happy if we see a new Monero ATH this year or 2026. It looks definitely possible as XMR has almost touched 50% of its old ATH at $542 when it hit $238 in February. It's also impressive that XMR was able to largely escape the altcoin crash of the last weeks. In general I think there's currently solid demand for XMR, despite of the delistings, so we can expect further growth. (And no: very likely this growth is not fueled by criminals. Criminals typically go in and out of XMR in relatively short time so they have very little incidence on price evolution. They have no incentive to HODL for longer times.) What can we expect? Let's have some values of the last charts: - March 2024: price about $130 - June 2024: price about $170 - September 2024: price about $170 - December 2024: price about $210 - March 2025: price about $210 (with an intermediate spike up to $238) So we see that we have three-month phases with growth rates up to 30%, and other phases where XMR stagnates. The growth rate from March 2024 to March 2025 was 61%. A further 30% growth would mean about $270-280, which looks very possible in the short term, i.e. in the next 3-4 months. Of course, another crypto crash could hold it back a bit, but I think many altcoins are close to a short term bottom or already have seen it. At least a sideways market is relatively likely. I think once the old $238 high is surpassed this could fuel an even bigger rally, to >$300 or >$400 in the next half year. But that's maybe wishful thinking

but yeah OP, I still don't get your Bitcoin hate.
It's a love/hate relationship. Bitcoin was a revolution that changed my life - not directly, because I never got into it, but for showing that it's possible to have true decentralized digital cash without any centralized governance. Without it, Monero would never have existed. The problem I see with Bitcoin is that it became a great tool (if not the greatest) for surveilling people, and it hasn't evolved (enough) to combat that. But even worse is the narrative within the Bitcoin community to HODL (not use it), as I already described in my other post: The grim truth about cryptocurrency community

I can definitely see where you're coming from and fully agree with your Serious Discussion topic. But from my perspective, the battle (in the case of Bitcoin) is still not lost. Even if we (the P2P cash/fungibility/censorship resistance "gang") experienced a setback by the last year's or so developments (from the ETFs to the whole strategic reserve / Trump pump thingy). I've hopes for the next bear market to boost the "P2P cash" idea again. And Taproot is also one of the relatively recent developments improving Bitcoin's privacy.
So my approach is to both defend privacy coins like XMR and to try to put my 5 cents to convince at least some Bitcoin hodlers/speculators to become real "users". </OT>
Meanwhile, today XMR wasn't pulled down too much by another Bitcoin dip and still remains above $200.
