new Braiins BMM 100 Mini Miner

today BRAIINS presented a new miner called bmm 100 mini miner at the BTCprague event.
there will be a limited first batch of less than 100 devices on site during the event - costing $199 each

My only question is since it looks like it is made of metal and the max power is 55W why do they need such a large fan?
A small one moving minimal air should be more then enough to cool it.
Heck, I have a 90W mini PC router in an aluminum case that is passively cooled.

Yea this looks like it could have been a bitaxe sized unit for just 1TH. Thought they were going to release something cooler.

Looks like they are using their custom controller for the S19s so thats probably why its so large.

Plus cooling is something thats is overlooked by almost all ASICs builders large and small...keeping a 6x6mm package that can output nearly 20 watts is no easy feat (and the reason why we needed to go completely custom high end vapor chamber heat pipe solution for the Apollo II).

It looks cool but its YUGE for what it is.

Nice gimmick for people who arent actually miners. The screen is cool for the information it displays.

Electronically, it's a Braiins S19 controller running two Compac A1s. Made fast and dirty, probably for advertising purposes with minimal engineering.

(I was at the Prague show and took one apart yesterday )

Lower RPM to keep the noise down as much as possible?
Still with that size and weight, taking into account the other costs for the components I wonder why they didn't go for more TH, to keep the consumption in check?

Anyhow, let's be happy that those toys are still being produced for fun, I don't think there is anyone planning to make money mining with it!

Yeah if it was 40 watts and 2th it would have been very nice.  But 40 watts and 1 th meh.

Not surprised! Looking at the silhouette-illustrations of the internals on the BRAIINS site, I was thinking about how strikingly similar it looks to the QAxe lmao. With the advertised power figures and output, it falls in line, precisely, with my 2 A1's running at 494 MHZ / 315 mV). Plus - its utilizing the BCB100 which is their Bitmain controller lol.

Braiins also ported their OS to this mini miner which phones home to a centralized "license server" before it will start mining

IAmGPIO and I did some playing with it day of and found out some fun facts. He's still parsing the wireshark output to get a sense of how much hashrate goes to dev fees.

Braiins PR claimed multiple times on twitter that there is no dev fee with the mini miner. Still, I think phoning in to report my home IP address and who knows what else is totally unacceptable. What if their license server goes down or the Czech government seizes it? Is the miner just a brick then?

There are many other mini / home miner options out there that offer better / similar performance and many of those are less expensive.

I mean, I like the idea of it. And there definitely needs to be more competition in the home miner space, but its just way over priced. In my opinion. it needs to be under $100 for a 1th miner
