We have seen other businesses accepting bitcoin as a payment method and a lot especially those who operate online, attract customers through the acceptance of bitcoin. We just might see some big ecommerce websites like Amazon accept bitcoin as their payment method seeing that they actually have partnered up with crypto before. It has been reported that they have partnered up with Avalanche.

What do you mean? overstock, newegg, rakuten, etsy are accepting Bitcoin payment since few years ago.

It's nothing new for land based company or online company are accepting Bitcoin, some of them are also accepting altcoins even though those coins aren't as safe as Bitcoin. What still new is a country that accept Bitcoin as legal tender, only El Salvador that accept Bitcoin till now, while Central African Republic was once accept it but they repealed it in the last year.

Bitcoin is easy to convert to fiat. If you are using a payment processor that is not accepting bitcoin, you can easily convert the coin to fiat. This has been what I am doing. I convert some bitcoin to fiat for spending.

There are many websites and e-commerce that are accepting bitcoin as payment. It may not be directly but indirectly through a payment processor. But I noticed that those sites may not offer bitcoin payment for people that wants to buy from another country.

Have you been living under a rock all these years? What you're stating is more of a reality than something to think about.
There are already sites that accept payment in bitcoin for goods and services provided. A quick Google search would have provided you with some websites that already do so.

There might be a few online stores that currently accepting Bitcoin as payment method. And there were times as well around 2016-2018 era as far as I can remember that many merchants have accepted Bitcoin and it really looks very promising that time.

However, due to the nature of the market, prices keeps fluctuating, very volatile and then then there is also the transaction fees that needs to be considered. Perhaps there are 3rd party that you can used to buy using your Bitcoin, but for now, I doubt that we can used it p2p as payment scheme.

As future technology advances in the future, more and more ecommerce websites may start to adopt BTC payment methods. However, there are some things you should consider:

1. Volatility: There Bitcoin 's value has fluctuated significantly ,which may result in merchants shying away from accepting it as an agreed-upon method of payment.

2. Regulatory clarity: In many jurisdictions, cryptocurrency payments still lack clear ordinances and regulations which would be dangerous in these circumstances for anyone operating or using the currency.

3. Payment processing: Integrating bitcoin into existing payment systems is a complex task requiring time and great expertise.

4. Customer demand: Merchants may not see enough demand from their customers so as to justify the effort and potential risk.

Though some of the world's preeminent companies such as Microsoft, Dell and Expedia are already accepting Bitcoin as a means of payment, there are also other companies for the likes of PayPal and Visa who will be looking into offering similar options.

I accept Bitcoin payments on my website via BTCPayserver but there isn't a big demand. I accept altcoins as well. In my country it's problematic to create an e-commerce website and accept card payments because of strict regulations regarding to stock and etc, I can't also use Stripe and other oversee payment providers. I still managed to accept visa/mastercard payments but to be fair, crypto payments are easiest and the best option for me to sell goods globally. Sadly, there isn't a demand.

I think Amazon and eBay will soon start accepting Bitcoin payments. They are giant companies and they should expect enormous payments via cryptocurrencies and I believe they have to manage many things with it. It sounds easy but for a big company like Amazon and eBay, this implementation shouldn't be easy. If there is anything that will bring more money to Jeff Bezos, he will surely accept everything.

Depends on the level of the adoption will happen since if there will be a problem will float in future and the government will think about bitcoin is illegal then discourage people to use this then that scenario might not gonna happen.

But if the government is open for development and they could able to see that bitcoin is good for economic growth then those acceptance that we want to happen will be implemented soon.

So lets see in future on what will be the outcome of bitcoin adoption since this situation will all matter on how people will approach it. If government will see a demand and there's huge money in this industry then positively we could see them adopt it and those merchants will find it good to be added on their platforms.

Ebay has actually a way of their customers to connect their wallets to convert their crypto into fiat. It is not the same as paying directly with crypto but I believe this points towards a good relationship between crypto and ebay and we should expect implementation soon.

These companies know that there is money to crypto but most likely they are still trying to figure out whether it is worth it or not. The risks and challenges have to be studied and analyzed carefully to determine how they can implement this and have all odds pointing in their favor.

This is not new anymore, a lot of ecommerce website has started using BItcoin as a means of payment few years back. In my local country there has been some business that accept crypto payment but the issue is the government are still on the fight against these online businesses. Although there is still some little challenges which Is as a result of the transaction fee where sometime it is difficult to get a confirmation block. This has made so many merchant to officially avoid using Bitcoin since it is not stable unless they are consistently sending and receiving huge amount of money.

Why? Bitcoin transaction fees are too volatile for e-commerce websites to use Bitcoin as a payment option. The next problem is why will an e-commerce customer pay a $2+ transaction fee to purchase a $10 product. In recent times the transaction fees have gone above the product price which has been listed for $40. I do not think it will happen in the future, there is still the option of buying gift coupons that I feel will continue.

The topic has been discussed before which makes me realize that Bitcoin as an asset is far better than a payment method. The E-commerce website can still integrate the Bitcoin LN which I feel is still not that secure and can be compromised, it is my understanding. Whereas they can integrate USDT or other stablecoins as payment which is ideal but why will they? They are getting fiat directly to their bank accounts and that is what they are going to continue with in the future.

That would indeed be interesting  Grin

But I think the problem is less likely about volatility since most popular payment processors enable instant conversion of crypto to fiat. Most probably the biggest setbacks would be btc being not as fast as fiat payments and most would probably still use their fiat most of the time for spending.

As a consumer, I'm also worried about the future. IMO there is more friction with crypto compared to fiat in the eyes of regulatory bodies. As it stands,  these policies are bound to get stricter over time and it wouldn't be unthinkable for big e-commerce platforms to be hit.

That could be possible, and if that happens, then it would be great, because nowadays many transactions are happening online, or what we call e-commerce. Many people prefer buying things online because it's hassle-free and more convenient. Yes, there's still cod or cash on delivery, but most of the transactions are being paid online, so I think if bitcoin will be an option in the future for e-commerce, then it would be great because another aspect is being affected and implemented with bitcoin, and that could be the start of more bitcoin applications. We just need people or e-commerce owners to accept and be ready to adopt bitcoin as a payment. There will be flaws, of course, but I'm sure it can have a solution. In short, this innovation will be a good thing because bitcoin will become more known, and people will, of course, be influenced and will explore what bitcoin is.

Some have already started the acceptance of bitcoin, but we may not have to expect all of them to begin this at once, it's a gradual process, just as we have it that only two countries have yet adopted bitcoin as a legal tender, while some other are still waiting on next thing to do and bitcoin still remains a legal digital cryptocurrency for making payment, we can also check in for some of these ecommerce organizations and companies already accepting bitcoin for payments through google search.

You're right. Soon this process will be larger and irreversible. Despite some difficulties, Bitcoin is gradually gaining popularity not only among ordinary users, but also in the business community. It won't be surprising if in a few years it will be accept most of the firms around the world.

I guess you haven't tried searching for them on google because this is not new , there have been many large businesses accepting bitcoin payments for many years . Even many members on this forum have used bitcoin as a payment method for their small and medium businesses . This is the latest thread about accepting bitcoin as a payment method for auto repair shops by a forum member.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5498925.0

But the problem we are facing is how many people will choose bitcoin as a payment method when its transaction fees are very high and people just want to accumulate more bitcoins rather than spend . Everyone wants to take advantage of bitcoin's volatility to make a profit , few people are willing to use bitcoin for payments and many see it as a waste.

Price volatility is one of the factors that have traditionally been a hurdle for widespread adoption but partnerships and advancements in blockchain technology could mitigate some of these issues.

It's not yet mainstream on every ecommerce site but there are a growing number accepting crypto, like Newegg and Overstock. Maybe it's just a matter of time before they (and others) embrace Bitcoin payments more openly.

A lot of people currently hold either BTC or USDT, do you guys think popular ecommerce websites will start accepting BTC as payment methods alongside PayPal and the rest?

For e-commerce I doubt that since Bitcoin is doesn’t have replay feature which is vital for customer refund policy especially of e-commerce. It was implemented before on our local e-commerce but they remove it later on due to the refund issue is frequent on this business sector. Imagine paying 1$ to 2$ of fee just to refund the customer funds which is a huge loss for e-commerce if this will happened to multiple users in daily basis which unlike cash that doesn’t charge/charge minimal on transaction transfer.

I think e-commerce will just stick to fiat which is working already rather than make it complicated just to cover the minority that use fiat too with their purchase.
