This is a psychology experiment. Let's see if this auction goes anywhere at all. This is round 2. Round two only lasted 1 hour, so this round will last a minimum of 24 hours so that more people will have a chance to get involved. Smiley

The rules:

1) Highest bidder at the end of the auction gets all bitcoins in 167gBwPnorxou8mKF2CUr95y7xdfgpfxsd at auction's end.

2) To bid, you must actually send the amount of your bid to 167gBwPnorxou8mKF2CUr95y7xdfgpfxsd (that's right, every bidder pays their bid whether they win or not)*.

3) Immediately after adding it (before the payment makes it to blockexplorer so someone else can claim it), you must post the amount of the payment you made here.

3) Auction ends either at 22:00 20 December 2011 UTC or when no payment has hit blockexplorer exactly 1 hour after a prior payment hits blockexplorer, whichever comes later (according to the times listed in blockexplorer for the transaction). If your payment hits blockexplorer after 22:00 and one hour and one second after the prior payment, you are among the losers.

4) Within 12 hours of auction end, I will send the entire contents of the wallet to the winner.

*To be clear, the amount you send is not totaled cumulatively. The current high bidder must send that amount in 1 transaction.

I've just put 0.01 in the wallet to start it out. I won't participate from here on out because I would have insider information being able to see the wallet before the transaction hits blockexplorer.

Grrr... I'm using an instawallet and although there is still 0.01 in the instawallet, blockexplorer indicates it's technically now at a different address. Rest assured, there's still 0.01 there for the taking. Smiley

You might want to re-think this, then, because so can the rest of us.

Good point. Well, that's fine, then, as long as no one has an unfair advantage. I'll just stay out of the auctionanyway since I started it. Smiley

Can't we all see the wallet before it hits BE?  just go to bitcoincharts.com/bitcoin...

Companies claiming they got hacked and lost your coins sounds like fraud so perfect it could be called fashionable.  I never believe them.  If I ever experience the misfortune of a real intrusion, I declare I have been honest about the way I have managed the keys in Casascius Coins.  I maintain no ability to recover or reproduce the keys, not even under limitless duress or total intrusion.  Remember that trusting strangers with your coins without any recourse is, as a matter of principle, not a best practice.  Don't keep coins online. Use paper or hardware wallets instead.

If Instawallet is scraping money out of your address automatically, you should create a real wallet address for this game, transfer the payments so far to that address, and edit the first post giving that address.

It looks like you have one high bid of 1.41421356 so far (the sender didn't follow step 3 to claim it by posting here too, and Googling the addresses doesn't provide any owner, so I'll claim it!), and two donates of .01.

Only problem is you can't edit auctions.

Actually, the first 0.01 and 1.41421356 were for the first round of this game. I should have created a new wallet for the 2nd round, but I didn't.

So far there is 0.01 in the wallet this round. Since I can't edit the OP, I'll leave it the same wallet, everyone will just have to know the total is the total amount RECEIVED (ignore sent) since Block 158142.

I guess you are stuck using that address, since auction forum posts can't be edited, and the address is in other poster's subjects anyway...

I may do a third round. But I'll let this one go on whether anyone cares to enter it or not since I can't edit the OP.
