The Boston Celtics added to their legacy by beating the Dallas Mavericks for yet another NBA Finals trophy. As soon as the Celtics won the title, oddsmakers set lines for every team in the Association to win the 2025 NBA Championship. The C’s are the top play at +300 followed by the Nuggets at +750 and T’Wolves at +900. Is the Boston the pick to go back-to-back? Or will a team upset the defending champs? Top Pick to Win the 2025 NBA Championship
After upsetting the Denver Nuggets, the T’Wolves suffered a bounce against Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks. Few NBA teams, though, boast as strong of a starting five or as deep of a bench as Minnesota.

The key for Minnesota is the continued development of superstar Anthony Edwards. AE blossomed into one of the best all around players in the Association this season. Mr. Do Everything averaged 26 points, over 5 boards, and over 5 assists per game.

Edwards will be even better in 2025. Karl Anthony-Towns and Rudy Gobert will dominate most frontlines while Mike Conley is one of the top pure point guards in the league. Minnesota must find a suitable backup for Conley. If Conley hadn’t suffered an injury in the Dallas series, the T’Wolves may have made it to this year’s finals. So finding Conley’s backup is goal one this offseason.

Second Pick to Win the 2025 NBA Championship
No team in the Eastern Conference is as deep or talented as the Boston Celtics. Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and the rest dominated Doncic, Kyrie Irving and the Mavericks.

The Celtics for sure can make it two straight championships. Not only that, but dynasties are the norm in the NBA. So a second straight title is a real possibility.

But the odds make Boston a tough play. Also, if not for Conley’s injury, Minnesota may have made the NBA Finals and the T’Wolves, at least on paper, matchup much better against the Celtics than the Mavericks. Give Boston their due but think twice before backing the C’s at such low odds to win a second straight NBA Championship.

A lot is going to depend on the off season and the NBA draft in the next month or so. I think Boston has a good team of course, but can they stay consistent on the 3 point shooting and who do they lose or trade in the off season?

IMO this is the best time to gamble on an underdog and hope they have a good off season before the odds change. Someone like OKC or Minnesota comes to mind. They may just need to add 1 more piece to their roster and be the new favorite. I wouldn't count out the Pacers either as they just resigned Siakim to a 4 year deal and they had the #1 offense in the league last year. They just lacked experience and a little coaching.

Going to be interesting to see how the offseason goes.

Nuggets at +750 is a pretty good bet.  And I know I'm a Homer but the east is weak and if the Knicks are healthy they will be able to make a run.  At +1500 that's not a bad play.  Bucks at almost 10-1 odds is also a good one.  Again if fully healthy they are are always dangerous as no one can guard a healthy giannis.  Worth a shot.

We've told the same thing about Nuggets last year that they might win their 2nd championship, they were close but not enough.

But it's true that it's possible that they might get it and we've been always telling that while the title was still fresh with them.

I agree on this one, they're actually the first one that I've looked straightly on that list.

I'm not saying to take the team with the worst odds. Pacers at +4000 is about as far down the list as I would go, but without us knowing what happens this off season I wouldn't gamble too big.

Actually the best time to take an underdog is right now.  Inevitably if they have a good start of the season the odds will drop dramatically.  And on the flip side if they have a slow start to the season they can always come back.  82 games is a long season.  Taking the Nuggets at 7-1 and the Knicks for next year.  If the Knicks can stay healthy they should be able to compete with the best of them next year.
