I know this is common sense to the majority of people on this forum but I can't stress how important it is to gamble responsibly.

There was a recent case in Australia where a man lost his entire life savings of $400,000+ in a 48 hour gambling spree.

The gambler lost $12,000 in a single bet and then tried to chase that initial amount but ended up losing his life savings.

I am a seasoned and experienced gambler and my one piece of advice to people is to only bet what you can afford to lose otherwise you are setting yourself up for failure.

And there could be more gamblers losing huge amount of money in short amount of them because they can't control it. And that is the reality, so even if ourselves know that old adage of playing with the money that you can afford to lose, most of the time it will slip out of our money, thus our decision is clouded because we want to recoup what we have lost.

Just yesterday though, I was also losing some money and then I play roulette, hit several times, recovered the money that I initially lose + profits. But still, I already said to myself that I will stop, but when I see the ball was about to roll, I can't help it and bet until I lost everything again then deposited a second time and never recovered,  . But at the nick of time, I snap and just decided to quit and never put another money in the casino as I might lose again. So it's really very very hard to control ourselves in that moment.

This is the result of gambling irresponsibly and chasing previous losses which initially only lost a little money but as a result of chasing it spent all his savings, this is sad because the man has lost all his considerable savings.

I suspect that the man could not control his emotions because it is certain that when he lost some money he continued to increase the bet quite high as a result all the money lost in gambling, so never think that gambling can multiply because it is not the best way.

Gambling must be disciplined, manage bankroll, be responsible.

That is my personal text. It is good to gamble responsibly. It saves time and money. I always advice all my friends to gamble reasonably.

This is insane that anyone spends his entire life saving in gambling and 99% of the chance is that people will lose their money who do such crazy moves like betting with 400,000$. I fail to understand the mental state of a gambler who risk 12000$ in a single bet

It's not the first time to hear such cases as a lot of Gamblers would still make the mistake even after reading this warning. Gambling cannot be overstressed as it is a risky game and for someone who cannot control his emotions and make up his mind, he might end up just like so many other reckless gamblers out there. There are time to loss and time to win you don't have to force the whole process that's why it's called being on the lucky side. A responsible gambler should know when to back out already and stop playing for the day. Don't try chasing your losses, you will only end up losing even more than you expected initially. Imagine someone losing his life savings in a day due to him being reckless.

It's a terrible feeling when all is lost in just days while you worked for the money your entire life. He just gave it all. The dealer at the table most likely has seen this case many times and all he can do is offer the man a drink and a piece of advice in the end.  It's often a martingale strategy that makes a newbie try out thinking they just discovered the most effective strategy.

If he bought a friend with him while gambling, the friend might have helped him stop gambling and save even just half of it. Maybe a new gambler should really not entertain the thought of WHAT IF.

This advice is right on time because we cannot stress it enough. Even though casinos always put this statement in their websites, gamblers rarely pay attention to it. The above example is a good emphasis on the need to gamble responsibly and if gamblers see what damage irresponsible gambling can do, I'm sure some people will learn and gamble better.  

I have paid my own dues as regards to irresponsible gambling and I learnt the hard way. Such experience is not sweet and not many people will remain normal after passing through it. The most important aspect of gambling is managing the bank roll.

How the hell someone can bet 1/4 of his life savings in a single bet, $400K is a big amount of money, even you live in first world country, it's not easy to get it. I think the man might likely depressed due to something, then he come to casino and bet with big amount of money without think twice.

Gambling with an amount that he cannot afford to loss was where he went and chasing his losses. I don't know what he will do now that he has lost everything to gamble due to his own carelessness amd greed.

What I think is that he may want to get it to $1 million. Just the way I think about it. I do not like to see this kind of things. $400000 could be his life savings. He could have used it to open a big business in a way the business itself will increase in worth and also be generating money. Gambling should not even the last resort for someone like this person in money making. He is rich but gambled with that huge sum of money and lost it all. Very bad.

Actually I kinda doubt if he really spent all his all entire life savings in just 48 hours for the reason of chasing the previous losses.
A common reason why someone can act recklessly like that is because they are using the money that is not theirs, being trapped in a situation like that will make someone unable to think clearly anymore.

His emotion got the best part of him. He is not the only person that has gotten into such selfish and greedy action of chasing his lose and won't be the last. That is one way gamblers lose instead of walking away to try next time.

Or rather keep the fund not meant for gambling far from you. Some gamblers still make the mistake of keeping fund not meant for gambling in their gambling bankroll or wallet and when they are down losing, they still use that thinking luck will be kind to them. Emotion is very important in gambling and learning to walk away.

I agree with that and I am hoping that many gamblers are reading this.
Please do enjoy gambling and not because you are trying to make money out of it. It's made to entertain us and not as a job to make our lives easier in just one bet.
I also lost $100 ($100 is a lot of money for me) in just one night and that made me realize that we can lose a lot of money in just hours of gambling.
If you keep on losing and seems like there's no way back, stop for a second, take a rest, clear your mind, and if possible sleep it off. There are times when a losing streak will keep on and the only remedy for it is for us to stop and bet the next day. Don't force it, there's always another day to gamble because the gambling site won't go anywhere.

This is the first thing all gamblers should know if they want to be able to gamble responsibly - aside from having a good management skill they should be able to realize that gambling is for fun and not a means to earn passively and such don’t make it a must to gamble.

If you don’t have money don’t gamble, if you have money and you know it’s for something else then don’t gamble, if you have money and you have some that you know you won’t be needing or would be putting into something else then you can take a part of it and use for gambling - don’t just use your current situation to inspect if you’ll be needing that money or not, make sure you look ahead and see if there’s a possibility that an event can happen unexpectedly and you’d need that money if you can think of any then don’t gamble.

$400,000 is a lot of money and not many people have that kind of money, so I can assume that this person worked somewhere that paid a high salary, and maybe he had a very stable life to the point where he was able to pay all the bills and have more money to spend. have fun and save it in the bank. His problem maybe started if he lost this high paying job and he became desperate and started gambling to make money, I highly doubt he was a gambler for many years before he had that $400,000. one of the big reasons that lead people to do crazy things when they start gambling, is the desperation they have for a source of income when they lose a job, they think that by playing they will be able to get that source of income and end up losing everything

As strange as it may seem, most people know this, I believe that even this person who lost $400,000 knew this, but the desperation to win a lot of money quickly or constantly leads people to forget that they should only gamble with money they can afford. afford to lose. Basically, the case of a man who lost his life savings was also initially gambling with money that he was ready to lose.But unfortunately,  he did not have good self-control and also had high greed, so he continued to pursue or attempt to take back the money he had lost. Of course,this is the mainfactor for him to experience losing all his savings, and if it has happened like that then ofcourse the person will experience severe stress and depression. Of course,it is difficult to get out of such a problem, but the reality is that  there is nothing else to do but feel great regret.

Its the BASIC thing but even with this basic principle on which most gamblers or players are really that forgetting on how they would really be doing it at the moment that they would really be playing gambling.
You would really be potentially be messing up your entire life with gambling on the moment that you would really be forgetting on trying out to control when it comes on handling up your finances. You arent
that someone who does have that unlimited fund and on the moment or time that you would really be having those approach on trying out to get rich with gambling on which this one would really be the
main reason for you to be pushed up on playing further more.

This is why on the moment that you would really be that playing gambling then you should really be watching out on how you would really be that handling yourself when it comes to spending.
On the moment that you would be losing up that control then you would be having that huge potential loss on which it could cause that huge devastation into your life
in terms of finances and this is something that you must avoid.

Is there any chance you can share the article, I am curious to read it because when stories like this come up there are times when the gambler will try and sue the casino they are gambling at for failing to follow their responsible gambling policies and I'd like to know if the gambler will file a case against the casino he gambled at.

this has been the most common advice I give and have seen when it comes to gambling, sadly a lot of gamblers often fail to follow this great and helpful advice.
