I wouldn't even want to think about working as a bank teller and being addicted to gambling. The job gets easy with experience but it'd be impossibly stressful. Thinking about not grabbing money and going away all the time.
Any teller these days would know they'd be caught very fast after stealing any amount of cash.

On the other hand it's also important to remember that people who are addicted need help. It would have been ok in my view for him to be given leave so he can receive treatment at least before he stole. After stealing however there's not many solutions other than letting such people go.

There's a problem from both the family members of the elders and the bank teller herself.

As a family member, you must support and help your elder relative whenever they will go to the bank. At least get yourself updated on their money or whatever it is since they have cognitive problems already. As for the bank teller, this is what I always see whenever I see an addicted gambler. They will do everything just to have money to be used in gambling. Well, I guess her addiction to gambling will lead her to get jailed, and aside from that, it also ruined her professional career.

What kind of conscience are you writing about here when it comes to severe gambling addiction? There are very few people who can cope with this. I was one of these years ago, but I managed to overcome this craving. Now I play sometimes, but I know the limits of my actions and money. Just last week my friends mother got scammed out of 750 Euro by a phone caller that said a wrong amount of money was deposited in her account and if she could transfer the difference back. Since she made the transfer voluntarily it's going to be hard to get any money back. The number of scams seem to be rising over the last few month and we all should help to protect our family. Especially elderly people are vulnerable and fall easily for such schemes. As long as an employee of the bank is involved it shouldn't be an issue to get the money back immediately.
