ETH/ARBETH Same address???

hi i hope this story is not as confusing as it is quite a long and complicated one but i really need some help

1. i have some btc that i wanted to convert into a stablecoin
2. unknowingly, i converted it into usdt (tether) on the eth network
3. now i want to convert my usdt back to btc but the problem is the wallet (exodus) is requiring me to have at least 0.0002 eth for gas fees
4. the minimum eth purchase or transaction is too high on exodus so i had someone send me some eth instead of directly buying or converting some of my other coins to eth (my coins do not reach the minimum amount for a transaction)
5. now i thought all is going to be well until i see that my eth is on arbeth
6. i checked my eth address that i sent and saw that it is just the same as my arbeth address
7. going back to my original problem, i still can’t convert my usdt to btc because exodus keeps requiring me to have 0.0002 on the eth network
8. i can’t convert my arbeth to eth because exodus says it is lower than the minimum amount needed to make a transaction

questions:
1. why eth and arbeth have the same address and why did it go to arbeth and not eth when the person sent me eth?
2. is there any way for me to convert my arbeth to eth without needing to buy more just to reach the minimum amount on exodus?
3. is there any way for me to convert my usdt to btc with some reduced gas fees?

1. Arbitrum is a second-layer solution for the Ethereum blockchain; although arbitrum and ethereum share the same address, they are on different blockchains. 
2. You can try to bridge your ARB ETH to ethereum on the ethereum blockchain using owlto, https://owlto.finance/, which I frequently use to bridge eth from other blockchains to the ethereum native blockchain. 
3. Your USDT was on ethereum blockchain, and I recommend you use a non-KYC centralized exchange site to easily convert your USDT. 

It requires you to pay lower fees than doing a chain swap.

1. Because it's different token, one address doesn't mean can only receive one token.
2. Find instant exchange that allow you to exchange small amount ARB to ETH.

1. As long as it's EVM, then you will find the same address for receipt, not only valid for Arbitrum, but also networks such as Polygon (MATIC), Binance Coin (BSC) & any other network that is compatible with EVM. And why you received $arbETH and not $ETH, it's because that person sent you $arbETH and not $ETH.

2. I don't think there's any other way than to increase the amount until it reaches the minimum redemption limit.

3. AFAIK, You can look for CEXs that accepts USDT on the Arbitrum network for deposits, then you can trade the USDT in the BTC/USDT pair.

1. If both of them are not the same, then why they do share the same addresses? One address does really mean that it can only receive one token and that is what happened to him.
2. I'm not affiliated with them but I've been using Fixedfloat for a long time now, or whenever I need to convert/send some cryptos like for example if I need a BNB coin to convert/send my BSC token, or if I need a TRX to send my USDT in Tron network. The fees there are only cheap and transactions are processed quickly. Lastly, they are legit of course.

To understand that you need to know what ETH layer 2 network is. Arbitrum is a layer 2 network that is built on top of ETH mainnet. It have all the elements of ETH mainnet but it is more scalable. That is why they share the same address configuration, but when someone made deposit on arbitrum that ETH stays on Arbitum layer 2 not in ETH mainnet. Not only ETH but all the token that ETH mainnet has can be bridged to arbitrum layer 2 due to   its being a chain on top of ETH.
