This is why I put forward this advice: before you advise someone to quit gambling as a gambler, you have to hide your gambling activities from them so it doesn't look like you are advising them to do something that you yourself cannot do.

I don't quite agree with your method, it is not good to be deceptive when trying to help a friend. What if he somehow finds out that you're still gambling? That'll definitely rubbish your good intentions for him, I think that you should make him to understand the difference between responsible and irresponsible gambling and let him decide the one that he prefers. You should let him to understand that he can choose to keep gambling without being addicted, let him have a gambling budget and be disciplined to stick to it. Gamble with the amount that he can afford to loose and don't try to recover loses. If he accepts these advices then he can continue gambling and be just fine, if he doesn't then it's not your fault if he becomes totally addicted, you can't force a horse to drink from a stream.

I completely agree with you that the adviser should not look like a player, because there will be no logic in this. How can someone advise us to quit the game if we play it ourselves? Of course, no one will do this, no matter what motivating words we say to the addict.

Before playing gambling, we need to have a foundation of earnings that will bring us a guaranteed profit to cover our basic needs for housing and food. Of course, gambling cannot be considered as making money, but many beginners want to believe in it no matter what. The whole point is that they will check it only on themselves and after they discover the losses, they will begin to think about it and rethink it.

I would give advice to such players that gambling should not be perceived as something frivolous and not requiring mental stress. Therefore, they should better study the theory and understand the whole essence of the game and how the institution itself makes money from it, maybe they would better see the whole picture.

If you also notice that these people are gambling as a source of income, you can help them find other, more reliable sources of income while advising them that gambling is not a source of income so that they no longer see gambling in that light.

That will not cure the urge. The man will end up using his source of income to gamble; if you want a jobless gambler to stop gambling, don't help him find a job; cure the urge first when the urge to gamble is cured, then help him find a job.

Another practical suggestion to help cure addiction is to help him find another activity that will help him forget gambling, like sports activities that he loves. If he is into basketball, join him in tournaments; with all his time in this sport, he will forget gambling.

Gaming addiction is a serious illness, comparable, according to some experts, to drug addiction. Therefore, talking about other methods of help, in addition to specialists aimed at curing gambling addiction, is unlikely to be beneficial. People trapped in the game are treated not only with beliefs about the dangers of the passion of the game but also resort to methods such as hypnosis. Can ordinary people use hypnosis?
On the other hand, if you deprive a person of places where gambling is carried out and engage him in good work, then it is likely that this can have a beneficial effect on the psyche of the player. But everyone understands that in our time it is possible to deprive the Internet only in places where freedom is given to a person to a minimum. Therefore, the best way is to turn to specialists. Otherwise, in the event of any failure, everything will happen again.

"Practice what you Preach", so if you are saying someone to stop gambling then you have to be following it in the first place and I am not that convinced about faking cause sooner or later they might know which will lead to distrust in your relationship.

Instead you can promote responsible gambling,

  • Betting money that you are willing to lose
  • Gambling as a source of income will never work
  • Don't make it as habit forcefully or as a coping mechanism to avoid daily stress

It might cure it. I have a friend that was a gambling addict before. He stopped gambling totally after he found job. But he has lost to a greater extent before which could serve him a lesson.

Another practical suggestion to help cure addiction is to help him find another activity that will help him forget gambling, like sports activities that he loves. If he is into basketball, join him in tournaments; with all his time in this sport, he will forget gambling.
This is true but not that you will help him but you can encourage him and advice him to be engaging himself in the activities. Such activities like sport and others are even recreational and can help his health as well.

Advising other people can be quite an annoying job, especially advising gambling addicts, because even if you are not a gambler and have nothing to do with gambling, if they are basically stubborn, then they will not listen to what you say to them. So in my opinion, there is no practical method that can help gambling addicts, except themselves. And then sympathy from those closest to them, because what these addicts need is not an insult or judgment about what they are doing, but how they can be made aware of the mess they have done.

- Stay away from all device
- Send all of your financial to someone you're trust
- Move away from the city and go to a village

Some place while there is no gambling place + make your self bussy without accessing to mostly internet. Could take times 1 years+ and tested your self comeback to the city, can you facing the temptation or not.
In this current generation, can someone actually stay totally off the internet ? I personally don't think so because the world is already going very digital that it seems very impossible for a frequent internet user to stay off the air for that long especially because of something that he believes might even change his life story for good.
A lot of people think addicted gamblers only gamble just for the sake of gambling but in the contrary they also have the hope and expectations to win and that extreme expectations to win is what makes them continue gambling at all cost.

Is sending all your funds to someone actually save? I understand that you have to trust the person before giving them your money but the question is, can the other person also trust and stay committed to safeguarding your funds?
The world is evil and the Bible also stated that the heart of men are desperately wicked and everyone knows that money itself has its own spirit and can make someone do things they never expected to do which makes giving out funds isn’t the right idea.

Personally I think one of the good ways to practically help an addict is being physically present with them because what they actually need is love and patience

I don't know if providing job source suggestions is the best. but it might be doable.
what I encounter with gamblers around me may not be like that. I can say they are addicted gamblers. they have jobs as their source of income. as well as the source of funds for the gambling they do. but what goes bad is that they spend all the money they earn from work on gambling. they even borrow money to gamble.
It turns out that some of these gamblers rely on money earned by their working wives for their living needs. who knows what they were thinking that they spent all the money they earned on gambling and lived dependent on a wife. it looked like a burden.

Definitely no lol, who're the ones that want to stop catching their dreams, stop to build their career, leave their family, friends and anything that they already comfortable with the place they live just for fucking gambling problem.

It's like learn how to kill your soul, you can get rid from gambling problem, but you will have new problem like depression, culture shock etc.

What other practical methods can we use to help addicted gamblers become better, aside from professional help?
There is nothing practical to cure an addicted gambler because everything requires a process to cure it, after all, by handing it over to a professional you will not necessarily be cured, every gambler has a different character so the handling of healing is also definitely different, but the basic thing is to let them stop by itself because if we remind it it will not necessarily stop it or reduce it and yes you are right that it is better for the people we advise not to know that we are gamblers because they will not hear it and ignore it. There are many ways to keep him away from the internet but keep in mind that he also has to have his own will to recover without that it will be very difficult.

This is why I put forward this advice: before you advise someone to quit gambling as a gambler, you have to hide your gambling activities from them so it doesn't look like you are advising them to do something that you yourself cannot do.
Does it mean that the only good advice to a gamble addict is to quit gambling? I don't quite agree with this because many of us in this forum have exhibited addiction at one point or the other in our gambling journey and some have manage to overcome while some are still battling with it. Those that overcame are better gambler and somehow benefitting or have the hope of benefitting some day because gambling needs patience. Quitting gambling should be for those who cannot come out of addiction or those who are not making progress in their gambling after trying several options and have given it time yet no result to show.

It’s very hard to convince someone to stop gambling especially when they are already addicted because you will just be branded as kill joy or hindrance to their happiness.

I remember one time when my friend just recently hook with slot. He is not a that kind of addicted but he is already dedicating too much time and money on gambling. I show him my real betting records which I almost lose my life savings in able to discourage him. I’m not sure if he really discourage but I feel that he thinks about potential repercussions when he becomes overwhelmed by gambling.

What other practical methods can we use to help addicted gamblers become better, aside from professional help?

NB: The discussion was first started on altcoinstalks.

Honestly, I don't have a good answer for this. for example, as you said, we ourselves are part of the gamblers themselves. We have actually discussed many issues regarding gambling addiction cases, whether we realize it or not, I don't feel like I am giving advice, but rather sharing experiences that we have experienced. yeah, apart from the words of advice that we are not aware of. whether it's in the community, or in our own social life.

Regarding your question, I often say in my posts that the most crucial thing in bringing a gambler out of his addiction problem is himself. I mean, after an addict gets help and support from parties who are competent in dealing with this problem. such as psychologists, for example, rehabilitation centers, family approaches and various other methods. The things I say are part of the support after someone can be sure that they have the determination and intention to recover from their addiction, at least mental problems are one that must come first. If someone has strong intentions and determination, other supports will synergize with each other to assist in recovery. I don't know what the method is, but the main thing is within the gambler himself, or for example us. If we are not supported within ourselves first, it seems that professional help will not be effective.

Even as a responsible gambler, you may not be taken seriously if you advise another fellow gambler who is having problems and slowly becoming an addict to stop gambling completely.

This is why I put forward this advice: before you advise someone to quit gambling as a gambler, you have to hide your gambling activities from them so it doesn't look like you are advising them to do something that you yourself cannot do.

If you also notice that these people are gambling as a source of income, you can help them find other, more reliable sources of income while advising them that gambling is not a source of income so that they no longer see gambling in that light.

What other practical methods can we use to help addicted gamblers become better, aside from professional help?

NB: The discussion was first started on altcoinstalks.

For us to make some alternatives to divert these addicted individuals, there's some other ways to deal with it like helping your family who got in trouble like this to enjoy their spare time with sports and entertainment.
With respect to professional help, I don't think so because most professional person is prone with addiction because they got enough funds to capitalize their activities. What I can offer is only moral support and encouragement. I was once experienced from a friend who's really fun and addicted with cockfighting online gambling, and all beneficial advice I've given on him went useles because until he's been doing same. Nobody could help them but only themselves, all we can provide is advices and motivations.

Honestly whether one is playing responsibly or not but it will be difficult for a gambler that is addicted to take an advice from a fellow gambler, and I don't even know how easy it will be for a fellow gambler to be free to think of advising someone thst is playing gambling.  This two person's they are gambling because they both love gambling, a gambler can only feel free to advice someone who have not started gambling not to play gamble.

Do you know it is not only people who see gambling as a source of income are addicted to gamble, even people that have good source of income still fall by being addicted to gamble.

Only what can make people to change is when they realize that they just have to change. If someone is addicted and he has not lost so much or still think it he can make money through gambling, advising the person may not yield any good result because the person could prefer to continue to gamble. What I noticed that is effective for gambling addicts is when they have lost huge amount of money that cause them significant pain. Many of the gamblers will even change without going to a rehabilitation center.

If you also notice that these people are gambling as a source of income, you can help them find other, more reliable sources of income while advising them that gambling is not a source of income so that they no longer see gambling in that light.

What other practical methods can we use to help addicted gamblers become better, aside from professional help?

I don't think there is more practical than having the help of a professional; all the other will not work; when we say addicted, there are symptoms that need to be taken out, so only a professional can devise a plan to take those symptoms, and there's also monitoring, mere advice will not work.

Much more if he finds out that you are also a gambler, you also have to be transparent to show that you are a good role model as a gambler.

n fact, showing him how to become a responsible gambler like you will bring better results because it is a real example.
If you advise other people to stop gambling and lie that you don't or have stopped gambling, most of them won't listen to your advice, we know how stubborn a gambler can be when someone advises him to stop.

If you also notice that these people are gambling as a source of income, you can help them find other, more reliable sources of income while advising them that gambling is not a source of income so that they no longer see gambling in that light.
is is indeed the best solution and the most hoped for by many gamblers who have financial issue because they cannot get a job or/and often lose when gambling.
The problem is that not everyone can do that because it is not easy to get a job nowadays.

NB: The discussion was first started on altcoinstalks.

The most winning approach that I have verified is really simple. Ask to a gambler to count wins and losses, eventually counting what percentage he is losing according monthly earning. It's a must also understand "why he is gambling"? For Fun? For earning?

It's also important join a group of Anonymous Gamblers or similar that could provide some tips ( I will not count as a professional help).
Generally speaking, all free resources are very useful in cases that not requires a medical helps and mild situation.
