We don't have a thread here on this particular tournament, so I decided to create one. It's now in the semi finals but I think it's still worth following this tournament and of course bet on our favorite teams.

Based from stake's odds, Puerto Rico is the heavy favourite to win over Mexico. And Lithuania over Italy. I may go for Puerto Rico, but in the other match, I'll go for Italy. So for the finals, I can see Puerto Rico vs Italy here. But let's see in the next couple of days.

Yeah I mean it might be worth a punt but everyone knows Mexico basketball can't really stand up to Puerto ricos team.  I know the odds reflect it but I can't see Mexico coming close to winning this thing.  If they keep it close I'd be surprised.  If ypu have enough money might actually be worth putting it on PR which is pretty much a lock.

This is where the "puso" will come. I mean, if we compare the capability of our players, we really have no chance, but good thing we have a MJ in our team which is Justin Brownlee, so we should trust him.

BREAKING: Kai Sotto will play tonight  in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament semifinals versus Brazil, multiple sources just told me.

This is very positive as we really need some bigs to clogged the paint, and hopefully just like in the last 2 games, Gilas will continue to shot with a high percentage especially beyond the arc.

I've bet for two matches, Greece versus Slovenia and Philippines versus Brazil. My bets;

I am both fan of Giannis and Luka but on this one, whoever wins I will be happy. But in terms of betting, I'd just go based on the odds so I'd choose Slovenia.  
As for Philippines, they don't have NBA players but they have been impressive for this OQT as they've beat top 6 Latvia and then so close with Georgia with a two point lead but even with that, PH won through quotient system and I think they've got a +10 in rankings so good luck.

I'm not usually bet on basketball, but my officemate challenged me to bet on the Philippines I took the bet for $100 against him; my officemate is so confident because all he knows is Kai is not playing, and Kai's contribution is very much needed in this game, bad news for him Kai is ready to play against Brazil tonight.

I hope the Philippines play a strong game like they did in their last two games, and I hope Kai is fully cured all of them should step up to support Kai.

The tournament comes at a good time, with all the talk about the NBA champions being regarded as World Champions, team USA will have a huge target on themselves and are on extra pressure to perform better after placing 4th in last year's FIBA world cup.

Team USA won the last Olympic tournament and a bet on them outright to win again is worth the shot.

The loss of Kai Sotto was really huge, we weren't able to defend the paint well and that's why they were able to destroy our defense. Smart coaching job by the Brazilians, they don't panic even if they were down by double digit at the start, and they came back strong especially int he 4th quarter. BTW, Slovenia (Luka) loss to Greece as well.

My prediction on the teams that will qualify in the olympics are.

1. Greece   
2. Latvia
3. Spain

That's acceptable loss for both games. That game of Gilas was commendable and they were dominant on the first and second quarter but after that, in the third quarter. That's when the poison of Brazil gets in. I thought that the Gilas won't be able to score at that quarter but they still did but Brazil took a great run until they're able to take the lead. As for Greece and Slovenia, still a fine loss for me. This is what it means to be a gambler, we lose some days and hopefully I'd be able to recover on the next days.

Based from what I saw during the qualifying tournament (and I saw all of the Croatia and Greece games), everything expect Greece winning will be a big surprise. They did pretty good in the first two games+ they are playing at home which is a not negligent advantage.

Regarding Zubac, he will probably perform good but for Croatia to have any chance of winning Hezonja will be crucial. If he starts the game good, we will have some chances. After all, back in 2016 we (Croatia) qualified for Olympic Games against the all odds (beating Greece in 1/2 and Italy in finals) so who knows, maybe it happens again.

Spain barely managed to beat a Lauri Markkanen missing Finland team, I think they won't play a big role in the tournament this time.
I watched the friendly match between France and Germany yesterday and France looks SCARY!! They already beat Turkey by 50 and also played with Germany like they were little kids.
Sure team USA is a big favorite to win but hey, France won't be an easy task for them, even with Steph, LBJ, KD and others.

They need to be consistent for sure despite of doubts. Many people were surprised of what they did on their games which means they are least expected to do so. Brownlee is a huge help on their team and if he'd be able to avoid injuries then the team will have a great potential to be on continuing rounds of the league.  There are still the giant teams who are on upper brackets or expectations of the league which they would deal with. Hoping for a bigger spotlight for my country's team.

Gaps on score are indeed shocking knowing that players are professionals on their respective countries. Simply shows how tough the competition is but there are already teams who are clearly deserving to make it to the next stage. Really excited for this year's league!
