I found Russian Roulette to be true but illegal in most part of the region where it exists like in Eastern Europe and parts of Asia.

Bruh, nobody is actually playing Russian Roulette other than movies!
The only ones that actually play it with live ammunition are either drunk or drugged to the max or forced to play that thing, nobody would be playing at 16% odds to die!

According to what I found out, where it is not illegal, not that it is legalized but what if the person is charged with alleged killing of someone. So I will say no country legalize Russian Roulette oulette.

Does anybody know where his name comes from? as it is called Russian roulette and the OP asks whether any Russian has seen it being played, but chances are that it doesn't come from this country. Anyone knows whether it was really invented/popularised there? I think that this stupid game would've been more common between cowboys with their guns. Like the "Spanish flu", which had nothing to do with Spain, but was known by this name all around the world.

Russian novels, there was no actual proof of it being used anywhere in the world before that, and the first case incident was named so after the publishing of those fictional stories.

But not sure if this is really done in gambling because I don't believed it is, specially that lives are on the line. Maybe we can see it more in Hollywood movies very often as obviously they try to gloried it.

I don't think it was ever formally used in gambling those ones that might have been seen participating in Russian roulette were doing it informally. The whole act is just too dangerous for one to think that it will actually be accepted, if it wasn't lethal I'm sure we would have been able to participate but the fact that one's life is at risk during the whole process of the game makes it difficult to accept.

So the whole idea that it was actually not a real game played anywhere was all fiction? I really thought as much, because I don't even know how someone will come up with such a game idea unless it's a matter of the person already committing a crime that warrants death punishment, and to give the person a chance of survival, that's where the person can be forced to play such a game because it's completely a suicide decision that anyone in their right state of mind can't make.

What a good way for people to finally commit suicide, especially those who are tired of living and desperately wants to end it all, they can easily engage themselves in this type of game, if they lose and get shot in a dangerous part of their body, then their mission to kill themself is achieved, but if they are shot in a part of their body that gives them a chance to live again, then they can assume their God doesn't want them dead just yet, lol 😂 - just kidding though..

On a more serious note now, this is actually something very serious, I've never heard or read about such type of game before, and common sense should tell us that there is no way such a game will be legal, this type of gambling will be mostly played by drug dealers and addicts, criminals and other crime commiters, just simply a game for the  recked souls, cus I believe no body in their right sense will want to play such game in the name of gambling.

No one will want to take a risk like this, even gambling addicts who really always need money, when given an offer to bet their lives in swap for money, they will definitely refuse. Because only fools play gambling like this.

Currently, technological developments are very sophisticated and there are many types of gambling games that really challenge the adrenaline and the mindset of today's gamblers is more modern and they will not do things that harm themselves by taking too big a risk, risking their whole life in one ridiculous game.

I don't know much about this game being played for real. I've seen it mostly in movies. If it's really practiced, it must be done as torture method by mobsters to punish someone or by suicidal individuals. But as a gambling game involving money prizes I think it's highly unlikely, because you risk your life when playing this game, so it's unethical and even criminal. Nobody wants to be associated with this.

On the other hand, if there were huge prizes involved, such as millions of dollars, I don't doubt many desperate people would voluntarily play russian roulette gambling game. It would be similar to that South Korean series: Round 6 (Squid Game), where hundreds of people into full debt went to a game of life or death to earn the jackpot, and achieve a comfortable financial status after so many failures in life.

I have not heard about such Russian roulette as described in the OP, but I know that some things that are presented in movies must have been something that has happened somewhere in the world or something that is happening somewhere in the world. In most countries, there are usually some ill activities that go on in corrupt neighborhoods, and it could be true that this kind of Russian roulette might be going on in some part of that country.   This is more of a myth amongst men that are piss drunk and less of a real game that people played in Russia, I mean if I'm not mistaken the term Russian Roulette itself is a misnomer cause Americans just wanted to attribute something hard and brutal with the Russians following their dispositions after the World War, but I could be wrong.

However, as you would've guessed, nobody plays this game anymore not even at the expense of something magnanimous like a million dollars on the line. Plus gun laws are becoming stricter and stricter by the day so it's not like you can just grab a pistol and play with it amongst friends for a buck and a half.

I believe it does still exist though, but not as a "game" you play, but rather more of a something that you make other people do to scare them shitless or something along  those lines. Money that's involved comes before or after and not during the fact, and lives are at stake.

So yeah this isn't a "gambling" game.

I'm not sure as well on how betting really happens on this game; is it only between the one who shoots and one who would be on the roulette or audiences gets the chance to bet as well? In my opinion this is just like a oral story that has been passed down from one person to another until it became a legend and then some authors capitalizing on the whole popularity of the word "Russian Roulette". Obviously, it could have originated from Russia, nevertheless we don't have solid proof that this game existed or someone used to play this kind of dangerous game to proved nothing.

Hahaha...Of course, this game can't exit again unless it's a kind of military cruelty game during a time of war or disorder, the world has moved passed that situation ordinarily. I think I have to research more about this Russian roulette game of a thing but let me assume in this current dispensation, nothing like that can be happening.

Movies and some weird sayings in the past could have also implanted some ugly ideas in the heads of some people to have warranted the belief that a thing like that exists. Playing with death and risking life this indeed can be called gambling but instead of using money people have to bets their life to playing this game which is not worth with the risk and i have read some articles that this game is not initially from Rusia but there was a magazine named this game Russian roulette and previously i have been seen this game was played by some people but in the movies when usually those people were lucky and can finished the game without losing their life but because this is the movies then the scenario is set by the director but for real life there is a story decades ago that there was a magician who playing this game but in the end he had to lose his life and indeed i am sure this game was illegal for all of the countries in the world but i am sure there are still those interested in playing this game but probably secretly
