Hey Guys,

what solution did you choose for the use of Hydro Miner? It's all about cooling the liquid, do you use radiators with air conditioning? If so, is it all in one room or do you take the warm air outside?

Maybe if you have a large body of water or something you could set up system to transfer the heat via conduction. That should cool down the system much faster than with radiators. The bonus is you get a heated pool/jacuzzi/barrel/whatever.  Grin The same principle of heat transfer should work for any large enough body of water relative to your rig size. Not that I have any practical experience in hydro mining.

Okay, I see, do you mean a large tank with 100 liters cools down faster than a tank with 1 liter? Sure, it takes longer for the large tank to heat up, but doesn't it take longer to cool down?

Now that I think about it, a normal pool of about 8x4x1.5 meters might probably not have a high enough rate of heat dissipation to cool down more than 1-2 miners before it heats up faster than it can cool down. Scratch the idea, unless you have a lake or a river at your disposal  Tongue

a lake is a great idea Cheesy

my biggest question is, should the warm air in an air-conditioned room be led outside (then you have negative pressure) or should you leave everything in a closed room and hope the air-conditioning system can handle it to cool down the warm air?

Depending on the set up, you could be confronted with humidity issues from condensation which could damage your miners. In a closed environment, I imagine the air conditioning system would have to work harder (higher electrical bill). Both sides seem to have their own cons.

Hello
Hydro Cooling devices dissipate most of the power cunsumption in the cooling water.
So for a 5500W power consumption miner, it will approximatively heating 1 liter of water by 1.3°K per second.

So if you uses it to heat a spa of 1000 liter,  temperature raise of spa will be approximatively of 5°K per hour.

For permanent use, temperature will stabilise when power loose of spa is equal to power of miner.  Only  a spa will not be enought to cool one hydro miner. You needs at least a swiming pool (or live at the north of alaska in winter...)

The radiators go outside! Having them indoors just exacerbates the problem of removing heat. The whole point of fluid cooling is the ease of plumbing the heat to outdoors...

Remember, most miners want to run at 50-70C so in cool weather the fans on the radiator(s) need to be controlled to hold that temperature range.

Not my area of expertise, however as a thought:-

Evaporative cooling works very effectively with large aquariums that have many KW of lighting pumping heat into them

Have a large container of water outside with an automatic water top-up system, and a set of large fans blowing air onto it.

As the water evaporates it carries the heat away with it, should be sufficient to maintain a few degrees below ambient.
