I thought he was a merit source because he is always distributing merits to posts that deserve it. There have been many applications for merit sources that have not been approved. And this can be discouraging but I hope your application will receive the right attention and subsequent approval. Just like others, I totally support your quest to become a merit source.

I also express full support for @Lucius' merit source application. We of course both know that there are many merit source application still pending - so even if @Lucius is one of the well-known users with his bitcoin contribution and knowledge, then I think he also needs to wait patiently for the decision. Regularly updating the thread with some quality posts is a advice that has been stated before in several other merit source application - so I don't need to repeat the same advice as @Lucius is probably already aware of that.

@Lucius - I hope theymos pay attention to your application soon. Apart from that - I think these statistics can also be used as reference material that you deserve to be a merit source. The following is a screenshot of the Merit Dashboard by @DdmrDdmr.

Yes we do, and I only needed to see the name in the title of the thread to know I'd support this application.  Lucius has been a positive member of the community for as long as I can remember, so if any new merit sources are going to be tapped by Theymos he should be one of them.

And as always when I see new merit source application threads, I have to wonder if there are going to be new sources added.  I would suggest to Big Boss Theymos that it's about time to do so.  Older ones might have dropped out, and even those that didn't might be getting burned out given the general mediocrity of "discussion" these days.  New blood, Theymos.  Sometimes it's needed, you know?

Surely 9 years in the forum isn't 9 days we're talking about 3,285 days of activeness and positive contributions to the community across all boards. Don't really need long words to give my support to Lucius merit source application, for what is worth it his merits record has shown that he's really going to be a good merit source with an eye for quality posts if given the opportunity. I have no doubt about the success of his applied whenever Theymos makes approval for new merits sources.

I consider Lucius as a friend, even though I've never met him. He's an active, reputable member of this community, always willing to help others whenever possible. His generosity (in merit) is unmarkable and has helped many users, including myself, to acquire merit, while he can distinguish a post worthy of receiving merit. Adding him as a merit source will expand his reach, by being able to contribute to the forum even further than he currently is. I fully support his application.

They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, but I will still write something considering that it is about a application to become a merit source. I believe that as someone who is online practically every day on the forum and visits various boards, I could contribute to the forum in the way of being a good merit source - and besides, it has just been 9 years since the registration on this forum, which, along with all the other statistics, has some significance.

I would like to see your (applies to any candidates) election program (how you will contribute to the forum) and hear arguments to convince you to vote for you (although the decision to transfer you to merit sources depends on the forum administration).

I believe that there are many good posts that do not receive a single merit, but also that there are many that I personally reward with only 1 merit because unfortunately my sMerits supply does not allow me to give more. I know that there are currently several applications that are active from good members who will hopefully become merit sources in the near future, and I hope that the admin will consider mine as well.

There is no hidden/inner motivation in the fact that I just expressed my desire to be a merit source. The only motivation is to be in a position to give merits to anyone who deserves it.

If there was some official responsibility for the position called "merit source", then the answer would make sense, but it is known that no one who holds that position has any obligations in terms of how much merit they will share, at what time and in what way. My contribution to the forum is expressed through the statistics of shared merits, which are visible, or through the number of reports seen by moderators/admins.

Some will certainly not agree that I am a good choice for this position, but their silence will speak for itself in relation to the support they gave to other candidates. But that does not mean that I consider any of them as competition, on the contrary - those who applied before me should get a chance before me.

How will you be better than others?

I don't think I need or want to be better than others, as I already wrote, I don't consider this a competition. The merits system was set up to enable good members to progress, and to make it difficult for bad ones on the forum. This can only be achieved by working in a group, the individual is not too important.

Have seen Lucius' posts since the days of their "GameOfBitcoins" faucet rotator, its worth pondering how time passes with faucets being a huge hit back then to mere nothing today.

100% support to their source application, I am sure they will perform their duty regularly and well both in Croatia local board and the global boards.

Even with some discussions at a very low level, I still consider that there are a lot of good things happening here... just the fact that bitcointalk is still alive today in this environment where social networks are dominating is something really worthy of applause, total resilience.   Maybe things will improve in the future, after all there are many people who are new to the market and don't even know that this forum exists.

Regarding the Lucius application, I support it, as I also support some other good users I saw here (Charles-Tim, Joker_Josue  for example)

There could be a turnover in merit source, because it is like a job, it involves a lot of reading, interpretation of text, sometimes some sources can get tired of the work. I don't know, just an opinion...

Yes, I got the same feeling when I saw the name in the title. Lucius has been a really good member of the forum and someone like him could be a very useful merit source. Such a member should be highly considered when selection of new merit sources take place.

I agree with you that when Theymos starts adding new merit sources then a reputed member like Lucius should be part of it. New merit sources are highly needed and I believe Theymos should think about it. I'm pretty sure someone like Lucius could be pretty helpful for the community as a merit source.

But I am satisfied with the sincerity and reasonableness of Lucius’s answer. Which, in my opinion, confirms the worthiness of this candidate for the role of merit source. If the user has the opportunity (time) and desire (to view many other people’s posts), then why not satisfy his request.

The requirement/criteria is very simple, as set by the admin, 1) be a reputable member and 2) collect and post 10 posts you think are of good quality and haven't received enough merits.

That being said, Theymos cannot immediately make everyone who applies and meets the criteria merit sources. I think he keeps some in the pipeline, and whenever he thinks there is a reduction in merit distribution in the forum, he can pick from pending applications and make new merit sources.

I couldn't have agreed more. I was one of those growing newbies who learned much from him during my early days in the forum, as he corrected me a few times and I earned my first few merits from him until I got to my member rank.
 
If I could remember correctly, he was still correcting me on a few of my threads and making comments where necessary. He is someone I have always respected and derived motivation from not giving up while I was struggling to grow in the forum.

I have been expecting for this long time ago that you make it up on this, but its also something to be excited about for you pushing forward your merit source application, you're not only an active member of the forum, but a prominent one, you have been consistent about your way of contribution to the forum and your pattern of meriting to members remain unquestionable because you earn your merits genuinely and could as well through this discharge the duty of a merit source by distributing merit with justice, i wish Theymos could at least consider this among other applications for merit source sooner.

I honestly thought that the support would be greater, but when you are not a member of any "gang", then you shouldn't expect too much.

Everyone has their own opinion about who deserves something, although I wouldn't go in the direction of dividing members into those who have good or bad intentions when it comes to something like the merits source. I think that such discussions have a place in the Reputation board, here we only show our intention and support, and the final decision is still up to someone else.

I am aware that such a decision can be made today, but also that nothing has to happen for years. This is a reality that we all have to accept.

Some members are not frequent in the forum, so the bump is necessary so that the can see the thread. Looking closely at the support you have gotten, I think it is commendable. Some reputable members supported your application by commenting while others did that by meriting the thread. Anyway, I agree that you shouldn't expect much because it might lead to disappointment. Hopefully, when the next set of merit source application is considered, you own might be approved.

I would like to add that being a source of merit is not as easy as many people think, and the applications submitted by our esteemed participants really deserve praise. Everyone probably understands that such a position, except for volunteer enthusiasm, does not bring any material benefits to the person himself. In addition, being a good source of merit means being on the forum long enough to notice many good and worthy posts.
I vote again for an honest distribution of merit, without personal PMs, and reading posts from those who do not beg for merits in PMs, but sincerely communicate on the forum. Just look at those users to whom Lucius distributes his merits, there is no support for a specific local section, the merits are distributed absolutely equally.

 You, Lucius, are very well suited for such a position.
