I don't think "mine" is the word, maybe "earn" would be more appropriate. Because it's not like you play a game to get merit or perform surveys. Two ways I know to earn merit is by;
✔️contributing thoughtfully and organically to posts on the forum
✔️ Creating and sharing valuable opinions on the forum.

AI generated content is frowned at, poor quoting and inappropriate responses are also frowned at and deleted. So yeah, you get to earn merit over time when you've built trust and authority by contributing reasonably to the forum discussion. So keep building here, sooner or later, I believe you'll earn merits ☺️

It wouldn’t hurt you to listen to your lessons yourself, and it’s not necessary to tick off every post, especially since you don’t stick to them.

Because it was marked as AI content does not necessarily mean it is AI content, AI tools can be wrong. I'm not going to deny using AI tools to correct spelling and grammar errors or enhance content but the ideas and a whole lot of the content is mine. Also, I already explained this to a moderator and have stopped using tools like Grammarly for contents here self.

And  you know it would not hurt also for you to be a nice person, I was new to the platform and hard to learn how things work around here. I learnt and have adjusted, do you have a problem with that dear legendary member? Was it really worth the stress to go look up my profile and get out my post?

You know I thought legendary members here are exemplary people to follow but I guess not all. Please learn to correct newbies in a kind way, you don't have to bash anyone, you are a legendary member with lots of merits, what would you gain talking me down? I've had my share of rocky start on this platform and I'm still learning so yes I've taken my advice before giving one out. Thank you

no, you can not mine for merit.
Mining is a technical action, it's brute-forcing a string untill the hash of said string is under a certain value... Merit is a record in bitcointalk's database. The two have nothing in common.
It's like asking if you can grow potatoes to hear some nice music.

If you want merit, just forget about merit and engage in the community. Learn, make friends, talk, make good posts... Merits will come sooner or later.
Make friends? How can we make friends here. I like the interesting response you gave above. The OP mentioned about mining merits and I was a bit confused about what it means to mine merits and if it was possible to do so. Your explanations helped to clarify it is not possible to mine merits but earn merits via hard work, commitment and consistency to contribute to the forum. Now, I also want to understand what it means to make friends here because it's interesting to hear it's possible to make some friends here.

On the contrary, it’s strange to see that this is strange for you.

You have come to a forum where people communicate with each other on all sorts of topics. By communicating sincerely, you will always find those people whose views and opinions will be interesting to you. You have a great opportunity to communicate with people from different countries around the world (is it necessary to explain this in the age of the Internet?) However, if not for communication on the forum, what purpose could you have here? Earnings? I’ll tell you a little secret, which, however, is known to many: your friends may be the people whose posts are closest to you. Your statements, your opinion, and your writing style may also be liked by some and not by others. I don’t want to talk about the fact that many alternative accounts transfer merit among themselves; this is a different matter. Your friends will help you with merit, just as you can later thank people for helpful answers. The forum is a small world in which, if you wish, you can have many friends.

So the little information I got about merit I'm passionate to know the possible way of mining merit to enable me know what mining of merit entails and how possible I can grow my merit by mining.
I guess you must have been misinformed about what "merit" is as regards to the is forum called "Bitcointalk.org", because "merit" is not like Bitcoin or Gold that minable, but rather "merit" as regards to this forum is what is earnable depending on the value of quality post ans value rendered to offer solution to forum problems and challenges. And "merit" is an important factor for the growth process on this forum which every users must ascertain, as it is one factor which differentiate each users rank, and the ability to join a payable signature campaign (i.e merit earn in 120 days).

Hence, the only way to earn merits on this forum is to be active and provide value while engaging in discussions. There is not short cut to it.

When you say "gaining more knowledge about the system", do you mean the Bitcoin system? Or you mean the merit system on this forum? If you mean the former, forget about merit because the information, lessons, knowledge are openly available for everybody. No number of merits or ranks are required. All you need to do is read and understand. But if you mean the latter, then you are referring to a kind of reward that is given to a constructive post, a post that contributes to fruitful discussions. To be able to contribute, however, a certain amount of knowledge is also necessary.

It seems to me there is a way to mine merit. I'm not referring to mining as in Bitcoin mining. I'm referring to mining as in the effort to hunt or intentionally gain merit. It's obvious this is what some are doing. They make compilations, tutorials, translations, and whatnot which are often unnecessary. They create fake stories and experiences in opening a thread. They even beg for it within this forum and in various group chats outside this forum. They join groups, often made up of fellow locals, who are in the business of scratching each other's back.

Because it was marked as AI content does not necessarily mean it is AI content, AI tools can be wrong.
AI detective tools can be wrong but if many tools say your post is AI-generated with high percent, it's red flag. It can be plagiarism if you actually use AI and don't say about it publicly in your post.

The point is your content possibly not good in quality too and if you have many "possible" AI-generated, low quality posts, you are not a good poster. You can improve and become a better member, but you can choose to be what you are now. The advice is if you won't improve, you won't go to higher ranks because merit system is to prevent spammers ranking up.

When your appearance is like a consistent spammer, you will have risk that merit sources add you to ignore list, and you will have less chance to receive merit.

All you need to do is read and understand.
Read and understand it is more important than post and teach other members when they are newbies. Their main concern is knowledge and their focus should be read to learn and to understand what they read.

I'm a beginner that should got into the system with the hope of gaining more knowledge about the system to enable me gain from the system. I think you should have gotten all the desire answers and I just wanted to add to what others have said that, you don’t mine merit but rather you earn merits from writing quality post and I also want to let you know that, there is absolutely no set standard for quality post assessment as what one person might call quality post and even send merit might not interest the next reader and doesn’t doesn’t mean your post was a trash but when writing, always try to give explanations about a subject matter rather than just listing.

The forum is a free place and anyone free to say and send their merits to anyone as long as they’re not abusing it.
Ian’s for you to grow in the forum, you should be open to every criticism and try to pick corrections from them rather than picking offense.

Welcome to the forum and I hope to see you grow.

I don't know if they merit you are emphasizing on is the merit that we know that help for growing of any account in this forum, so I know quite well that the essence of merit is to rank up to a position of next level, but what I know is that before you gain a merit in this forum you most be a committed member and you most think and write out something that is interesting and example to learn something from, so many persons who has achieved a greater goals today it's base on their hard work and random thinking of positive things that people can learn from.

It seems you haven't read yet the pinned post in the thread, are you talking about the mining of merit is gaining merit or literally?, the statement is to vague. Well if you goal is to gain merit you can earn this through your progress of sharing knowledge, and contribution in different aspects or could be subjective if someone gives you merit, this is just a reflection or token of appreciation, as on the pinned post you've already seen that there's a ranking system you will achieve once you reach a designated amount of merit. I recommend to explore more on the community, learn and share your learnings merit will surely follow.

I too think that there shouldn't be a race for merit, instead, it should be following your trail because of your knowledge and desire to help/teach someone else something new. It's great to share your opinion where you shine and help others understand the things that may be a bit complicated or poorly tied up.
