How has a significant win in gambling changed your life?

When I started gambling a few years ago, I won a pretty big amount of money and that opened new doors for me to pursue new business ventures. Some of these ideas panned out and some flopped miserably, but I still managed to generate some money from the the ventures that were successful.

I now have something that can generate some "passive" income and something that needs a lot of my time and attention, but overall it improved my quality of living and it encouraged me to follow my dreams.

I still gamble, but not as much as I did before... because time management has become an issue. This will not secure my retirement, but it gives me some freedom to experiment with more ideas. (I still need to work between 8 to 10 hours per day.... and weekends, but I have something to fall back on, if something bad happens)

If you do not have time to gamble, that is not bad. There are some people in life that are so busy and not having time to gamble. My time are mostly filled up with work and sleep as I rarely have time. I gamble just one or two times in a week when I am relaxing. Gambling is for fun but if you do not see it as fun, then do not gamble.

As for me I have won money from gambling which can feed me for weeks or months but I have not won the money that I can use to establish a business. I am not even looking for money to establish a business from gambling, neither am I looking for money that can feed me for weeks or months from gambling.

As I don't wins much money from gambling, I am not changed my life from gambling but from other ways. You are lucky to wins much money that you can used that money to build a new business and earn passive income.
You should be grateful with that but you should not use gambling as a source of income because you may not lucky in other time. Your winning in gambling helps you changed your life so you can do many good things you can such as build a new business and recruits some people to helps you runs your business.
We don't knows what will happen to us if we still playing gambling. But we can always be careful when gambling so nothing bad happens to us.

It will be wrong if we win big and put them all back into gambling because we are just going to lose them. If I was to win big I have plans that are going to generate money from businesses that I have dreams of opening. I plan to use my big wins to open a car wash business, I do not see many of such business where I am leaving and I think it is going to be a good business. I also have plans to buy more Bitcoin and keep hodling believing that Bitcoin can pass $100,000 in this bull cycle. Gambling can not always give me big win therefore if I was to have the opportunity, I will not misuse it. We learn from our mistakes and I have misued money that I won before and I regretted that decision. It was not a big money but I did not have plans for it and put all the money back into gambling and lost it. I will still reserve some money to be used as more capital to gamble but a majority of that money will be used to setup something more guaranteed to bring income.

I don't have big wins from gambling, big as in life changing amounts. I've won relatively big amounts though, perhaps around a thousand dollars but in the middle of a gambling session. Meaning, I didn't really go home bringing that amount. You know, when you're in the heat of betting, it escapes your mind to just quit and go home. The adrenaline remains high and you continue to bet. The bigger the money in your hands, the bigger your bet becomes.

I think the only way for me to win life-changing amounts in gambling is through state-sponsored lottery jackpots. When that happens, I would no longer work.

You are one of the rare things that can happen in gambling, like that FedEx guy. Well, the lesson to this story is, that we must exit if we win and use it for something else, something that will keep us making money and probably not rotting. If we just go back to gambling, I don't think we can be successful here. Bet what you can but have a plan on when to stop because there will be a time that it will come but are we ready enough to run away with the money or our greed will eat us and try more? It's our own choice.

You can do the thing you do because you have a plan and you have control over how you gamble; others who win significant amounts of money will spend money on whatever they want, because they think that they can still win more or the huge money that they won is enough for them to life a lavish life.

I have seen lotto winners spending their winnings on things that they want instead of planning to use the money to give them passive income for a long time like you did.

I have not really had a big win that changed my life, i'd say i have only had medium and small wins, sometimes they go back into the casino, and other times i use it for something productive. I cannot say what i would do if i ever get a really big win from gambling, i'd definitely buy bitcoin, and i am certain all of it wouldn't go back into the casino, only a small percentage will, as it would give me a greater staking power.

I have read and heard different stories of people winning big in gambling but never have I been able to hit anything good that I can classify as big win - I usually gamble with little money and then try to do some parlay and also accumulate some games to give me a big odds but at the end of the day I always end up with nothing - at most I’ll only be able to double my initial deposit or increase it to like 5 times but nothing more than that.

The only time I new I had something from gambling was when I managed to hit a NDBs (free spins) and I ended up with a little from it - it was not that much but the fact that I didn’t have to deposit anything to get it made it worth more for me but still it’s still not enough to call a life changing amount.

I have not gotten to that point in gambling where I can comfortably say I have made a significant win or loss that have changed my life or my perception about gambling. If I ever make such a win, I do not think I will quit gambling because even right now, my gambling habit does not interfer with my personal life and i will utilise such money so well that I'll forever be grateful for that win.

A lot of gamblers will squander such money within a twinkle of an eye and come back running to gambling because there is more where the previous one came from. An irresponsible gambler is not just one who spends so much money and time on gambling, an irresponsible gambler does not know how to utilise money. He spends recklessly and goes back to gambling almost immediately. Anyone who invests his money just like you did is wise.

Yes, you actually spoke lots of sense in what you said above, because one thing I also noticed about O.P's story is that at least he/she was able to have full control over his/her gambling activities, as I'm sure he is not the only who may have won big from gambling, but what differentiate him from others is that at least he was able to make good use of the money, as it came for something tangible, which is one thing we all need to learn as gamblers if we are opportuned to big wins, since such rare scenarios comes just only once in a blue moon. However, I just wished I have ever won a big win, as I would have really love to share my story, but the truth is that I have always been an average winner, he usually gets plenty of loses and few wins. Cheering you for that and I hope that you'll continue to follow your dreams freely. Compared to the others that don't have passive income and still living pay check to pay check and still gambles, that's giving them hard time to cope up with that need because it slashes a part of their salary instead of going it to something else. But as long as they're gambling consciously and moderately, they're on their own.

Freedom is already a sign that you're ready for retirement. As long as you do things lightly and you don't have to be working hardly for them and you get to gamble some and have time for it, I guess that you're living the life already and I congratulate you for that.

Totally agreed,  there’s some success story of popular company CEO like Fedex that has same pattern of using the gambling win for his company expenses.

I really like the idea of starting a business using the gambling profit so that my attention will be away for gambling to avoid losing it back to the casino. Most of the time gamblers that experience win keeps coming back because they want to earn more which the opposite results. Business passive income can be use to fund gambling without damaging finances of person because it’s a consistent source.

Assuming the story told by the OP is true, it is an exception but a very exceptional one. Good luck finding people here who tell similar stories that are not made up. The most normal thing we've seen around here is someone who makes a lot of money from gambling ends up losing it all and more.

In my case as it is about small regular and stable income it is not the same.

People do often gambling because they want to earn a large amount of money that they will say it will change their life some players did this somehow like they use their money to build an asset so they dont back to their previous life and have a money casual generating without thinking too much where do they will get a money, but the opposite of that is those people saying they will change but after won a large of money they keep playing because they want to earn more like they experience but the outcome doesn't what they expect instead they lose more their winnings including their capital at the end they back to zero.

there are stages in ones life when you slow down on certain things and it's understandable if you've gotten to that point when you no longer gamble as you use to but rather do when when you are led to to. How most persons carry out thier gambling routine is mostly dependent on two major things, one is thier past win which mostly give them the impression that they can win even further or thier inability to win or loses which gives most persons the idea to keep playing untill they continue winning. For me, I've not gambled that long and haven't won a jackpot throughout my gambling but if I win big in my gambling, it's possible I might slow down on my gambling but can't be certain that I till totally stop gambling.

with the way I gamble, I do it in such a way that after staking a particular bet for the weekend, regardless of the outcome of the bet I don't gamble again till the next time. If I win, I just quite and go home with the money and if I loose, I take it in good fate and only come back at my next scheduled date.

I wish to have such significant win that change my life but in fact I've been gambling for more than 10 years but no single win that change my life significantly.
Of course I realize it well because I'm gambling with so low amount of money so it is almost impossible for me to win a huge amount.
I may win signficant amount with low bet amount but the chance is quite low ofc, because I'll need to win so huge multiplier.
Although I wish to win significant amount but I have to be more realistic because of my own capability in gambling.
