Hello,

can anyone tell me how many BTU an S19 Hydro Miner with 191TH at 5.5kW needs for cooling and how many BTU more it will be if you run another one

We are looking for a chiller behind our radiators to cool down 45 grad celsius to 35 (prefer 30).

thanks

Um, when asking such basic questions you should learn how to use google or other search engines...
Search for "watts to BTU" and you will get your answer.
If running 2 or more just multiply by how many miners  Roll Eyes

2 x 5500 = 11000 watts

watts to btu = ?

hint 4 is close enough

so 4 x 11000 = 44,000 btu

for 2 machines

or 22,000 btu for 1 machine

search google  1 watt to btu =

Basically, we only need to know how many BTUs are in 1 watt. Here’s the answer: 1 Watt = 3.412 BTU

I use 4 for overkill

i googled but the most of calculators are for thermo or airconditioner and a server-farm with fans is not the same like hydro mining. i think u cant calculate it with 3.412 on hot water

Yes you can. Heat & power equivalence is the same no matter if it is carried by air, water, oil, metal, etc. The equations are the same. The only thing that changes for fluids (air is considered a fluid) is the mass flow rate needed to carry x amount of heat from one place to another. For metals or other solid materials it is thermal conductivity that controls rate of thermal transfer.

Yep. But in the case of a 500 square meter green house it is going to bleed a lot of heat.

my 40 meter 8 foot tall garage does not bleed heat and on a cold day. say -5 c a 3kwatt s19 keeps it at maybe 3-6 c

I should add that when spec'ing a dry chiller (no refrigeration or supplemental water spray) the BTU rating @ your desired temperature (35-50C) feeding the miners is only half of the information you need. The other 1/2 is the flow rate the pump in it can produce @ the desired pressure. The miners are plumbed in parallel - not in series - so take the flow required for 1 miner (8-10 L/min) and multiply that by how many miners you are running.

I did some research on green house r values :

Quote
https://www.greenhousecatalog.com/greenhouse-insulation

Greenhouse Covering Insulation Comparison
Compare the insulation quality of Solexx to other greenhouse coverings on the market...

Greenhouse Covering   ..............R-Value   U-Value
5mm Solexx Panels   ..............2.30   .........0.43
3.5mm Solexx Panels   ..............2.10   .........0.48
8mm Triple Wall Polycarbonate   2.00   .........0.50
Double Pane Storm Windows   2.00   ..........0.50
10mm Twin-Wall Polycarbonate   1.89   ..........0.53
8mm Twin-Wall Polycarbonate   1.60   ..........0.63
6mm Twin-Wall Polycarbonate   1.54   ..........0.65
4mm Twin-Wall Polycarbonate   1.43   ..........0.70
Single Pane Glass, 3mm   ........0.95   ..........1.05
Poly Film, 6mm   ........................0.83   ..........1.20

R-Value: measure of 'insulating ability' of the material. The higher the R-Value number the greater the insulation.
U-Value: measure of 'heat loss' through the material. The lower the U-Value the less heat is escaping.
*Independent testing, Solexx with caulked flutes.

Basically not much my 40 square meter garage is r11 at the garage doors and far better elsewhere.

So 3kwatts is not enough when it is -5c  6kwatts is enough in my well insulated garage.

I think you may need 10x for your 500 square meter greenhouse  so maybe 10-15 miners  at least 10

But you can start with 2 and see what you get as they are cheap now.

https://vmssecuritycloud.com/product/used-bitmain-oem-s19-100t-low-power-autotune-firmware/

under 600. He is a decent seller.
